FRONT
Using 2 strands of yarn held together, cast on 68 sts.
Row 1 (RS) Slip 1, [k2, p2] 4 times, work in Seed st to
last st, k1.
Row 2 Slip 1, work in Seed to st last 17 sts, [k2, p2] 4
times, k1.
Work even until piece measures 11” from beg, end
with a WS row.
Shape Slit
Row 1 (RS) Work 17 sts, join a second ball of yarn
(holding 2 strands of yarn together), slip 1, work to end.
Row 2 Work to slit, slip 1, work to end. Work even
until slit measures 2½”, end with a WS row. Break
second ball of yarn.
Row 1 (RS) Slip 1, [k2, p2] 4 times, work in Seed st to
last st, k1.
Row 2 Slip 1, work in Seed to st last 17 sts, [k2, p2] 4
times, k1.
Work even until piece measures 17½” from beg, end
with a WS row. Bind off all sts in pattern.
SCARF
Using 2 strands of yarn held together, cast on 32 sts.
All Rows Slip 1, work in Seed st to last st, k1. Work
even until piece measures 41” from beg, end with a
WS row. Bind off all sts in pattern.
FINISHING
Block pieces to measurements. With RS of all pieces
facing, following schematic, sew BACK to FRONT
at points A, B, C, and D, and SCARF to FRONT
at points E and F. Insert bound-off end of SCARF
through slit in FRONT. Weave in ends.
NOTE: To wear, slip garment over your head,
until BACK band rests at back of your waist, with
FRONT as a diamond pointing downward. Drape
SCARF over your right shoulder, across the back of
your neck and down over your left shoulder. Insert
end of SCARF through slit.
