The database of facilities information: Net-FM®
Web-based
Unlimited Users
Unique, robust features
Net-FM is fully web-based,
providing real-time, permission based access
to facilities information across your organization. The
INSITE technology is rooted in an Oracle® -based
relational database that dispenses space data throughout
your organization via standard networks, intranet and internet.
The core of Net-FM is space management, a room-level inventory embedded
in structured simultaneous hierarchies with geographical, room use
(reflecting FICM standards) and organizational (unlimited levels)
components. Additional applications include: Assets (equipment) and
Depreciation, field scanning for data collection, Indirect Cost Accounting/
Recovery, Grant Tracking, and intelligent, distributed floor plan technology.
Features / Benefits
►
Sophisticated Oracle-based RDBMS to manage space, assets, cost recovery, grants and more
►
Web-based application (Net-FM) with unlimited users site license
►
Unlimited organizational and asset location hierarchies, and FICM-compliant use hierarchy
►
Allows multiple organization and space use assignments and graphical displays
►
Embedded business rules based on extensive experience at major universities and hospitals
►
Built-in integrity checks and user-defined validations
►
Tested calculations reflecting institutional standards and required regulatory algorithms
►
Automatic FICM & BOMA-based space areas, room use classification and weighted area proration
►
Structured database views that are easy to understand and customized to meet many needs
►
Many time-tested reports included; easily produce others via industry-standard reporting tools
►
Complies with OMB Circular A-21. GASB 34 and other regulatory accounting requirements. ICR
support via multiple program functions per organization per space, proration and accumulation
by organization or facility
►
Equipment, fixed and movable, is linked to space and allows multiple accounts per asset
►
Grants / Projects are linked to Spaces

Integrated intelligent floor plans: Visual-FM™
Visual-FM is a one-of-a-kind floor plan system with both intelligence and unequalled efficiency
for maintaining scaled architectural
information about facilities. It is a
comprehensive software application
for managing and tracking spaces,
assets and other building .
Visual-FM, with its planning and
viewing components, forms this
unique computer-aided drafting
system that fully integrates electronic
floor plans with the Net-FM database.
The system is focused on facilities
management activities and peacefully
coexists with other design and
construction CAD systems.
Using object-oriented technology and
sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, Visual-FM reduces the cost of creating and
maintaining floor plans by over 50% when compared to polylined AutoCAD-based drawings. The
floor plan maintenance and query system has been designed for the unique needs of space
managers and planners versus ‘standard’ construction and design-based CAD systems.
Features / Benefits
►
Easily learned and understood by users with no prior CAD training; features and methods designed with
direct, real world user feedback since the 1980’s
►
Highly efficient methods for creating maintaining and intelligently querying floor plans; improves
productivity by eliminating the need to polyline spaces
►
Automatically produces and measures areas as architectural elements are created, and then stores
room information in corresponding database room record. Intelligent objects (walls, openings, space
labels, etc) have built-in validation and behavior rules. Provides automatic area calculation of FICM
(inside-of-wall) and BOMA (centerline-of-wall) area standards.
►
Increases accuracy of information via automated database updates using the live link and Reconciler
tool. The Reconciler supplies a visual status of data elements to be reconciled between the database
and floor plans. It provides identification and selection of individual elements to be reconciled, or
performs global updates. Allows for single or multiple drawing reconciliation.
►
Runs graphical queries to cross-reference, verify, and analyze any data held in the database with the
live link turned on. Visual-FM is the only floor plan system that can produce graphical planning
scenarios independent of database input.
►
Output drawings in formats such as DWG (with FICM and BOMA polylines automatically included), DWF,
PDF, JPG, GIF, BMP & EMF. Compatible with other CAD systems (AutoCAD, Microstation, etc.)

Floor plan query and analysis: View-FM™
CONF
INSITE’s View-FM floor plan application is
designed specifically for non-CAD users who need
access to information and who do not have
authority to change drawings. View-FM is a viewonly application that allows user to query
drawings and the database for the information
they need, as well as to “redline” drawings for
planning purposes. This feature allows users to
create “what-if” scenarios with drawings without
changing the drawing of record. Occupants,
spaces, and organizations can be rearranged for a
proposal or presentation.

View-FM is more than just the read-only system
for distributing Visual-FM floor plans to your
entire organization. It is a highly beneficial tool
for understanding your facilities and developing
evidence to support good decisions about space.
Users can create their own data and graphic
symbols which can be stored locally without
affecting the floor plans of record.
INSITE and AutoCAD integration: ACADLink™
INSITE’s ACADLink is an AutoCAD overlay that
allows the use of AutoCAD as an interface to the
robust Net-FM database. With polylined AutoCAD
drawings, space, assets and other information in
the database is directly linked to the floor plans,
and database operations are performed directly
on the AutoCAD floor plan. A rich set of tools is
provided for working with the floor plan and
linking graphical information to database records.
The AutoCAD floor plans saved with the INSITE
ACADLink can be queried for analysis and used for
“what if” scenarios, space planning and graphical
display of database information.
