CREATE MAPS:
TEASI pro offers the possibility to use self created raster maps with the
format MBTiles.
With this, extra information can be added to the existing maps (e.g.
Müritz), or maps can be created for regions where no data is available
(e.g. George Town).
Here, we show you what you have to consider and how it works in detail.
TECH HINT: MAPS
TEASI maps are generated electronically, called vector maps.
These maps are created out of digital data from the device and can be
zoomed and changed individually.
Compared with that raster maps are build out of single fix pictures (tiles).
Zoom level and details are defined through the number and quality of the
pictures, you can compare this with number of pixels at a digital
photography.
TECH HINT: MAPS
TEASI takes the raster map above the original vector map. This means that
the features of the vector maps remains e.g. routing or search by address.
Self created raster maps (Mbtiles format) can not be used for routing or
search by address/POI.
TECH HINT: MAPS
For your first try, we recommend the open source progam MOBAC:
http://mobac.sourceforge.net/
Before installing the program you will need JAVA for your MAC or PC:
www.java.com
Furthermore you should have a good internet connection and time.
TECH HINT: MAPS
After successfully installing MOBAC, it starts with a selection of available
map formats.
To create TEASI maps you have to take „MBTiles SQLite“.
„Name of the new atlas:“ define a name for your project. For example
„TEASI pro Map“ – you can choose a name also later.
TECH HINT: MAPS
Now, the progam surface will be opened with the OpenStreetMap
MapQuest.
We recommend this map for the beginning.
TECH HINT: MAPS
MOBAC uses 3 main parts:
map settings:
map:
GPX-track:
TECH HINT: MAPS
Map settings:
Selection coordinates:
Necessary to find places around the earth by coordinate.
Map Source:
To choose the map for the information basis. E.g. Hike & Bikemap,
OpenSeaMap or regional maps.
Zoom Level:
TEASI uses zoom levels between 1 and 20, these are the zoom steps
which can be set by using +/- button.
You can set the available zoom levels, we recommend 15-18 for your
first map. The chosen zoom level has a huge influence to the size of
the map – while choosing you will see the required number of tiles
(max. 500.000 per map).
TECH HINT: MAPS
Map settings:
Layer Setting: (Important)
Set the hook at „Recreate/adjust map tiles“ and choose „JPEG –
quality 95“ by „Tile format“.
You can choose the JPEG quality on your own, it defines the size of
the file.
Atlas Content:
Here, you will see your selection of maps, this we will see later…

Saved Profiles & Map source tile coverage:
You won‘t need these settings for the beginning. More interested
users can learn the functionality at „help/show readme“ in top
corner.
Button „Settings“
Not nessecary for TEASI maps.
Create Atlas:
Creates the own map.
TECH HINT: MAPS
Map:
Zoom:
Changes the zoom level.
Grid & WGS84:
Shows coordinate grid.
Move the map:
Works with the arrow buttons, not while placing
the mouse above “zoom”.
TECH HINT: MAPS
If you would like to create a map with an originally not existing
area: Search for this area, mark the region
By using “add selection” the marked area will be saved as
a new layer within my project. The below-layers are
created out of the already defined zoom levels.
You can choose them to see it on the map. With right-click
you can delete the layer, if you don’t like it.
„Create Atlas“ creates the final file for TEASI pro
– that’s it...
TECH HINT: MAPS
The creation of the map starts …
TECH HINT: MAPS
If the process is finished the progess shows 100% and “Status: FINISHED”
„Open Atlas Folder“ opens the folder where the MBTiles-file was saved.
TECH HINT: MAPS
GPX:
With this, you can import GPX-tracks to your
map. This could be helpful to add map
information around your track. This helps
reducing the size of the file, because just needed
parts will be add to your map.
The selection will be made in „Maps/selection
around (or) by GPX track“
„Panels“: here you can hide areas.
TECH HINT: MAPS
Completely selection of all parameters.
With the button „Create Atlas“ you will save the red area as MBtiles-map
for TEASI.
TECH HINT: MAPS
Copy the MBTiles-file onto the TEASI pro to the folder:
BikeNav\Map\Raster.
If the folder “Raster” don’t exist, you have to create it manually. Please pay
attention to the correct writing.
TECH HINT: MAPS
Set the hook at “Use Raster Maps” at Settings > Maps. In “Select Sources”
you can choose the wished MBTiles-file.
TECH HINT: MAPS
It could be useful to delete the hook at “Auto Zoom”, depends on the
chosen zoom levels in MOBAC.
Zoom to the area with the saved raster map.
OSM-map
George Town
(near Cuba)
Müritz-Seamap
TECH HINT: MAPS
You can download the two example-files here. Always activate just one raster map.
The usage of raster maps could slow down the map of TEASI pro a little bit.
We recommend to deactivate the usage of raster maps, if not necessary.
