Thrivent Night at Jackie Robinson Ball Park, Friday May 2, 2014
The Daytona Cubs play Clearwater at 7:05 pm. Please join with
us in supporting Halifax Urban Ministries. We are selling tickets
for a meal and the game for $20 per attendee, $6 of which will
be matched and donated to Halifax Urban Ministries. The Cubs are now charging
for parking, at $2 per vehicle, so carpool with a friend.
The meal catered by Dustins Barbecue begins at 5:30 pm and consists of Hot
Dogs, Hamburgers, or Pulled Pork, Potato Salad, a Garden Salad, Salted Peanuts,
Soda or Iced Tea.

Many, many thanks to Tom and Delores Opfer for all the hard work and hours that
they have spent making our Memorial Garden beautiful. They have planted new
flowers, fertilized, mulched, had the sprinkler system fixed and painted the benches. Thank you Tom and Delores for your dedication and hard work!
We continue to serve our HUM guests each Monday from 1-4PM and Friday from
10am-1pm. Thanks so much to Nancy Abend for volunteering this past week. The sign-up sheet for April & May
are located on the table in the fellowship hall. We do not
have any volunteers for the rest of April 28th and all of May. Please consider volunteering for this worthy cause. To learn more about HUM, please click here.
HUM Donations needed for April are: canned beef stew(1-24 oz.
can), canned fruit (1-15 oz. can), boxed macaroni & cheese (2-7
oz box).

Includes lunch and an ECO Tour of the Indian River Estuary at 10:30 or
at 12 Noon. Lunch is from 11 to 12:30. Cost is $5 for members and $7 for guests.

Our quilting group is still looking for donations of scrap material that
can be cut into 8“and 9” squares. Please see Rita Schmidt for details.
Please respect the reserved seating in the sanctuary. This
seating is reserved for wheelchairs and walkers. Thank you
for your cooperation.
The Prayer Partners Ministry needs more volunteers. These are the teams who
pray for individuals during communion in the worship service. There is no special
training involved. All that is needed is a willing heart. You may sign up on the volunteer sheet to participate. If you have questions, you may see Jim & Judy Smith
or Dave & Marge Ruhlen.
We have received a request from the Pregnancy Crisis Center, Inc. for diaper donations. Sizes for Infant up to 1 year are being requested. The center is requesting donations in conjunction with Mother’s Day. There will be a container
set up in the fellowship hall for you to drop the diapers in. All diaper donations
will be transported to the center before Mother’s Day. As always, thank you for
your generosity.

you will notice that individuals can register for Saturday Only. Saturday is when
all the workshops will take place. The fee for Saturday Only is $20.00/Adult. The
workshops promise to be exciting and informative! The following 5 pages list all
the workshops.
As your Pastor, I would strongly encourage each of us to attend some of these
events to equip us for sharing the Good News in our community. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to learn and develop skills and ideas for positively making a
Christian difference!
