Director’s Note
OLIVER! was presented for the first time on the Athens stage in 1982. It is a timeless
story created by Charles Dickens and brought to the stage by Lionel Bart in London
in 1960. OLIVER! came to Broadway in 1964 and won a Tony for best score. OLIVER! is
now back in London as it opened in the West End in December. This is a special show
for me as I have a former actor, Teri Zoller Brune, from my original OLIVER! in 1982.
She is in charge of coordinating the Orphans for this show because she has her
daughter Mia and son Max in the show playing the part she had in 6th grade.
Their Dad, Scott, a former ATC actor is working on the set.
It is also special for me because I am directing my son Logan for the first time on the
Athens stage since he played Gavroche in LES MISERABLES in 2003.
I feel this is a timely show for what we are all living through right now. Even
though things may be tough for many of the characters in the show they make the
best of their situation as in the songs “Consider Yourself”, “It’s a Fine Life” and
“Who Will Buy”.
I would like to thank all of the parents, my family, Athens staff and
Administration for their support; especially Dr. Fowler and Jeff McCoy for this
production. This is a tremendous undertaking with over 125 people involved. The
show would not happen without all of the many hours put in by the parents and my
production staff.
Enjoy the show.

MEET THE CAST, CREW & PIT
Aseel Abulhab
Grade: 10th
Role: Cello
Aseel is a sophomore, and this is her first year in pit. She has been playing the cello since 5th grade
and the piano since 2nd and is a member of the Symphony Orchestra at Athens. Besides playing,
she enjoys travelling, being involved in after school clubs and activities, and trying new things.
She is so excited to have the opportunity to be involved in the musical this year. She would like to
wish everyone good luck! Cast, break-a-leg Pit, Don’t suck!
Jonathan Achard
Grade: 12th
Role: Trumpet
After four years in marching band, Jonathan is excited to play trumpet in his first ATC musical. In addition to being section leader for two years, he is an Eagle Scout and an avid student. He
hopes to pursue a degree in Political Science, utilizing his natural love for history. He thanks his
parents for their continued support.
Mitch Aiello
Grade: 9th
Role: Fagin boy
Mitch is very excited to a part of his first high school production. Mitch has a lot of experience in
the theatre. He has been in musicals such as The Music Man. He has been in plays such as The
Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe. Mitch tries his hardest in school. He can not wait to continue his
acting and singing career here at Athens.
Erin Barger
Grade: 12th
Role: Old Sally/Milk Maid/Oom-Pah-Pah Dancer/Londoner
Oliver is Erin’s third and last show with the Athens Theatre Company, and is sad to see her high
school theatre career end. She had a blast singing, acting and dancing in Miracle on 34th Street,
Night of Scenes (2008), and High School Musical at Athens. Erin has also enjoyed played Kim
MacAfree in Ridgedale Players’ production of Bye Bye Birdie (Spring 2007) and participating
in the chorus of Avon Players’ production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
(Fall 2007). She plans to attend Michigan State University in the fall to become an elementary
school teacher, but hopes to continue participating in community theatres as a hobby, or possibly
make singing/acting her career if the opportunity comes along. Erin would like to thank the crew
for building a wonderful set, the pit orchestra for playing such beautiful music, the cast for their
talent and friendship, the production staff for pulling this show together, and, over course, her
wonderful family who supports her in whatever she chooses to do. She loves you all, and hopes that
everyone enjoys the show!
Alyssa Benes
Grade: 10th
Role: Cello
This is Alyssa’s second year in pit and she is very excited. She hopes that the musical will be as
much fun as it was last year. Aside from symphony orchestra rehearsals, her busy schedule consists
of homework and bowling practice, as she is on the varsity bowling team. Alyssa is looking forward
to another great experience with the musical this year.
Danielle Bridges
Grade: 12th
Role: Clarinet
Danielle has been playing the clarinet since the 4th grade and also enjoys playing the piano. This
is Danielle’s first time in Pit and is very excited to participate in her first show. After tearing her
ACL in November, she has been unable to play tennis and it is very important that she be able to
play her senior season at Athens. Danielle is still undecided about college and whether or not she’ll
still be able to play college varsity tennis. She would like to thank everyone involved in the show,
especially Mr.Benes for a great time and a very memorable experience!
Kevin Brown
Grade: 11th
Role: Second Bow Street Runner
Kevin is a junior at Athens High School. He’s been singing since he was 4 years old. He started
playing piano 2 years ago at the Gus Zoppia Music Center. He likes basketball and football. He
sings at church in the youth choir. He loves to volunteer. He’s a tutor and he helps out at the Boys
and Girls Club; he was their ‘Youth of the Year’ in 2008. He’s also in Project Lead at Athens. He’s
the second youngest out of 5 kids. He loves to be social and hang out with friends while, of course,
keeping his grades up. He’s a tenor in Magic choir also. He’s just a cool dude.
Max Brune
Grade: 1st
Role: Orphan
This is Max’s first show with the ATC. He loves Star Wars and legos and making his friends laugh.
He’s a natural for the stage, just ask his parents.
Mia Brune
Grade: 5th
Role: Orphan
This is Mia’s second show with the ATC. She loved being in Miracle on 34th Street in a boys role.
She has also been in Carousel at Troy High. She plays travel soccer for the TSC Force and loves the
game. She looks forward to middle school next year at Boulan. She hopes to learn how to play her
new guitar this year.
Adam Cable
Grade: 11th
Role: Trumpet
Adam would first like to thank God for giving him the ability to play the trumpet with confidence, and owes all the credit in the world to God and his family. He can proudly say that his parents have attended almost every concert that he has been in, and can not thank them enough for
their support. Outside of school, Adam is involved in Civic Jazz, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Band,
Tennis, Baseball, and Student Congress. In his free time, he enjoys listening to Dave Matthews
Band, messing around on his keyboard, playing roller coaster tycoon, and watching a good college
football game.
Patty Calucchi
Grade: 12th
Role: Percussion
Patty is 17 years old and has been playing percussion for 8 years. This is her first Athens Theatre
Company production. She’d like to thank her mom for supporting her for all these years.
Andrew Catterall
Grade: 12th
Role: Mr. Brownlow
This will be Andrew’s fifth and final show with the ATC and he could not be more thrilled to be
performing as a senior at the end of his long high school career. He has been tremendously privileged to have performed as a rich cast of characters over the years. From the nameless convict #1 in
The Man Who Came to Dinner to the disgruntled lawyer, Mr. Mara, to the misguided authoritarian Coach Bolton to the horribly uninformed composer Roger Hopewell. And now he will make his
final curtain call as the rich, yet caring Mr. Brownlow. He would like to thank his directors and
parents for all of their support and to tell his fellow performers to “break-a-leg!”
Kathleen Chou
Grade: 11th
Role: Flute
Kathleen is affectionately known to her close friends as “weenie”. She is excited to be involved
with her first ATC production. She has been playing the flute for six years and has acquired some
pretty serious skills. Apart from her musical talents, Kathleen possesses many significant abilities including, making unique facial expressions, excelling in her classes with beastly intellect
and being a crazy cool girl. Though you might mix her up with her younger sister, Daphne, she
definitely has her own full awesomeness. She would like to extend a special thank you to her personal hero, Lo Osak, whom she believes is the “cat’s pajamas”.
Kristen Cleghorn
Grade: 11th
Role: Charlotte/Londoner
This production will be Kristen’s 3rd with the ATC, but the first with actual speaking lines. She’s
really happy that she was lucky enough to be chosen and able to work with such an amazing cast
and directors. She thanks her mum, dad, Trevor, Amanda, Nathan, Grandparents & all her other
family for being supportive. “Break-a-leg everyone!”
Alex D’Amore-Braver
Grade: 11th
Role: Fagin Boy
After past lives as an eagle, a cow, Joan of Arc and a Haitian turnip farmer, a strange spirit
has currently come to rest in the 17 year-old boy from Troy. Feeling unsatisfied with the first few
months of his junior year, Alex decided to try out for his first show with the ATC. He is also in
forensics and jazz band and enjoys listening to, playing and writing music, whether on trombone,
piano, or guitar. He also likes playing with his dogs, hanging out with friends and travelling. He
thanks everyone in the ATC for being so welcoming, and his family for supporting him in everything he does.
Kyle Dayak
Grade: 12th
Role: Londoner
Kyle Dagah, self-cast as Oscar Wilde, the infamous Londoner, is acting in his first high school
play, and quite joyfully so. He plans to participate in other theatrical performances in his college
years.
Albert DeFluri
Grade 12th
Role: Cello
Oliver! Marks the 3rd and final ATC production that Albert takes part in. His first musical as
a cellist was Little Shop of Horrors followed by Once Upon a Mattress. After one year away, he is
back for one last production and is in high spirits. According to him, it was too great an experience
to have missed another year. After finishing high school, he plans to go to college to study computer
engineering while continuing to play the cello.
Chelsea Desmond
Grade: 11th
Role: Rose-seller/Oom-Pah-Pah Dancer
Chelsea is very excited to be part of the ATC again! Her last show was Miracle on 34th Street. She
has been keeping busy with Project Day Dream, at Birmingham Community Theatre, and has
been in Sound of Music, Ms. Hannigan in Annie, Les Miserables, and did tech in Aladdin, Jr. She
hopes you enjoy the show!
Kelsey Devaney
Grade: 12th
Role: Crew
Kelsey is a senior this year and knows this will be her last show so she wants to make it the best.
She has been in the ATC for 3.5 years. During those years she was a crew member and loved it!
She loved the chance to be involved with the show and making so many new close friends. She has
always had a deep love for theatre, and being new to Athens in her sophomore year, she thought
that joining the ATC would be a great way to make friends and have fun. It was one of the best
decisions she has ever made. Now she has a teacher/director she can confide in and friends she can
depend on.
Eric Donato
Grade: 11th
Role: Workhouse Assistant/Fagin Boy
This is Eric’s 4th show and 3rd year in the ATC. Eric is excited for this show because of the really
cool music. He would like to thank the directors for the opportunity.
Katie Douglas
Grade: 10th
Role: Oom-Pah-Pah Dancer/Londoner
This is Katie’s second production in the ATC and she is so excited to be doing Oliver! Katie was a
cheerleader in High School Musical last year and she loves that she gets to be on stage again this
year. Katie wants to thank all the directors for giving her the opportunity to be in this great
show! “Break-a-leg everyone!”
Elizabeth Ferguson
Grade: 9th
Role: Fagin Boy
Elizabeth is very excited to be in her first ATC production. She has been signing, acting and dancing for as long as she can remember so she’s thrilled to be on the Athen’s stage. She hopes she’ll have
many more chances throughout her high school career. She’d like to thank her family for supporting her and putting up with her busy schedule. She would like to also thank everyone in the
musical for welcoming her into the group.
Andrew Fillion
Grade: 10th
Role: King of Londoners
Andrew is returning in his 3rd ATC production. He is excited to work again with familiar and new
people in Oliver!. He is looking forward to doing more musicals for the ATC.
Mariya Gefter
Grade: 12th
Role: Londoner
Mariya is a senior who has participated in one other production at Athens High School. She loved
being a part of the winter play, Miracle on 34th Street and knows she will love Oliver! just as
much. She is excited to sing & dance and have a ton of fun. She’d like to thank Ms. Manfredi &
Frank for helping her be an important part of this play. She would also like to thank her family
for their support! Hopefully we’ll have a jolly ‘ole good time making this musical.
Emily Glick
Grade: 12th
Role: Bass Clarinet
This is Emily’s first show as a part of the Athens musical, and is excited that she gets to play in
Oliver! Emily has been playing the bass clarinet since 7th grade. She wishes the best of luck to her
fellow pit members, the cast and the crew. Emily would like to thank all of the staff especially
Mr. Benes, her family, and friends for all of the fun times and the support they have provided.
Emily is a senior, so this is her last performance as a part of the pit. She hopes to make it great and
hopes you like the show!
Brittany Goehmann
Grade: 10th
Role: Bass
Brittany is thrilled to be a part of this musical. This is her second musical with the ATC. Last
year she got to experience being part of the stage crew. This year she gets to be a part of the Pit. She
wishes everyone the best of luck in the show.
Jon Gold
Grade: 12th
Role: Bari Sax
Jon is extremely excited to play in the pit for his second show with the ATC. After the high-energy
High School Musical, Jon is looking forward to the challenge of a classic musical. He would like
to thank his entire family especially his grandmother for support in his endeavours. Also, he acknowledges the entire TSD Fine Arts Department and school board for providing an environment
that is devoted to music.
Therese Goussy
Grade: 12th
Role: Mrs. Bedwin
Therese is both excited and sad to be in her 4th and final ATC production. It’s been a great three
years, full of amazing experiences, and love. Thanks goes out to everyone who has supported her.
Thanks also go to everyone whose hard works make these shows possible – especially the directors,
she loves you guys! “Break-a-leg cast/crew/pit!”
Shaelyn Gurzick
Grade: 11th
Role: Oom-Pah-Pah Dancer/Londoner
This is Shaelyn’s 4th ATC production. Her past performances include: Miracle on 34th Street, Once
Upon a Mattress, and High School Musical. She is looking forward to her role as an Oompah-Pah
Dancer in this spring performance of Oliver. Shaelyn would like to thank her family and friends
for their support and encouragement. She would especially like to thank Ms. Manfredi for giving
her this wonderful opportunity.

the best of luck with the show!
Shelby Hanley
Grade: 12th
Role: Clarinet
Shelby is 17 years old and has been playing the clarinet for 8 years. This is her first show with the
Athens Theatre Company. She is really excited and wants to thank her best friends Patty and
Lanya for joining Pit with her.

ATC career next year. He is a young lad capable of doing great things. He has a lot of interest in
football and classic movies.
Katie Irey
Grade: 12th
Role: Fagin Boy
Katie has been in five shows with the ATC, and each year she loves it more. She started out as
a chorus girl in The Man Who Came to Dinner, and now she’s an orphan, picking the pockets of
the more fortunate. The people that she’s met through theatre have changed her life and she will
never forget them. Katie fell in love with theatre when she saw her sister, Caitlin Sams, perform
in Man of La Mancha. Since then, her love for singing and performing has grown. She would like
to thank Caitlin, for showing her such an amazing place to belong, her parents, for never letter
her give up (and letting her use the car), Ms. Manfredi, for always being there to talk and help
Katie through whatever is thrown at her, her friends, for understanding how late rehearsals can
be, especially Travis, Natasia, and Bee, and of course her ATC family that will always be close
to her heart no matter how far away they move. This has been an amazing experience and Katie
wouldn’t trade it for the world. All of the people that are graduating with her, as well as the ones
still stuck at Athens, will always have her as a friend. She would like to thank everyone so much
for this experience, she will miss you more than you could imagine.
Lauren Janness
Grade: 11th
Role: English Horn
In her first experience in the Pit Orchestra with the ATC, Athens junior Lauren Janness (English
Horn / Oboe) is really excited to be a part of Oliver!. Lauren began playing the flute in fifth grade
and took up the oboe in sixth grade. In high school, she added tenor saxophone, keyboard percussion,
and English horn to her repertoire. Lauren is a drum major in the Athens Marching Band who
hopes to continue to study music in college. She would like to thank her family and friends for
their support and awesomeness!
Hannah Jenuwine
Grade: 10th
Role: Violin
Hannah is very excited to be a part of her second show with the ATC. Last year she helped build the
set and worked backstage for High School Musical. This year she is playing violin in the pit, and
it is tons of fun. She’d like to thank her family and give a shout out to all her friends. “Good luck
everyone!”
Michelle Khadra
Grade: 12th
Role: Violin
This is Michelle’s 3rd year playing violin in the Pit Orchestra. As a senior, she is looking forward to
her last performance with the ATC. Next year, she will most likely attend the University of Michigan to study biology. She would like to thank her parents and sister for their continual support in
everything she pursues.
Jessica Kijek
Grade: 9th
Role: Londoner
Jessica feels honoured to be a part of the production Oliver! during her freshman year. She was involved in a lot of plays in middle school and couldn’t wait to get involved at Athens. She is in the
chorus this year and loves every minute of it.
Kendall Klitzke
Grade: 11th
Role: Londoner
Kendall is thrilled to be in her first musical with the ATC. You may have seen her as the Judge’s
granddaughter in Miracle on 34th Street, heard her as a bassist in the pit orchestra for High School
Musical, or saw her behind-the-scenes work on Once Upon a Mattress, Rumors, and The Musical
Comedy Murders of 1940. She would like to thank her mom, brother and sister for inspiring her to
get involved with theatre, Frank for his awesome vocal coaching, Mr. Benes for making the show
a musical, Ms. Manfredi for always being there and all the work that she does, Chris and Gino for
always giving her a home, and all of her best friends who made this show something she will remember for the rest of her life.
Dana Kuntzler
Grade: 12th
Role: Violin
This is Dana’s second and final year in the pit orchestra. She has played the violin since she was 10.
The other musical production she participated in was Once Upon A Mattress and she enjoyed every
minute of it. Dana’s ambition is to help put on a great performance for the audience. She would
like to dedicate her performance to her Grandfather Hackenberger, who recently pasted away. He
will always be her best friend and still be there for her. “So long, fare thee well, pip pip, cheerio.
John LaRose
Grade: 12th
Role: Bill Sykes
In John’s childhood all he did was play sports. His junior year he stepped out of his comfort zone
and auditioned for High School Musical. This was the best choice he’s made in high school. The people and friends he made will never be forgotten. Everything that has happened could have never
been done without the support of his parents and he thanks them dearly for that.
Jarvis Li

Role: Flute
Jarvis, a junior and section leader in the marching band, is in the Pit for the first time for Oliver!
He spends his time practicing flute and studying to stay on top of his very impressive schedule.

Emily Lourim
Grade: 4th

Emily LOVES the theatre! She has appeared in the Ridgedale Players JAR productions of Babes
in Toyland, Two by Two, Charlotte’s Web, and The Best Christmas Pageant EVER. She thanks
the Athens Theatre Company for this awesome opportunity! And she thanks all of her family for
always supporting her!
Logan Manfredi
Grade: 9th
Role: Artful Dodger
Logan Manfredi was born at a very early age, nine years after the birth of his brother. He made his
stage debut at nine months in the Athens Theatre Company production of Peter Pan. He was on
stage in a spotlight wearing only a diaper at the beginning of the show as a voice over said “I ran
away from home the day I was born”, Logan smiled and crawled away. A certified stage fight combatant at 14 years old, Logan was most recently seen as Edmund in Etico Productions presentation
of The Lion Witch and the Wardrobe at Meadow Brook Music Festival. He made his professional debut in 2007 as Billy Ray Jr. in the award winning production of On Golden Pond at Meadow Brook
Theatre. Some of Logan’s other favorite roles include Fleance in Macbeth (Meadow Brook Theatre)
and King Cobra in If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (Etico Productions). Logan is slated to play the
Boy in If You Give a Pig a Pancake this summer (2009) at Meadow Brook Music Festival.
Matthew Mannette
Grade: 12th
Role: Percussion
This is Matthew’s second show with the ATC. After an amazing time with High School Musical,
Matthew couldn’t wait for this year’s show. He is very excited for this show and hopes that everyone enjoys it. Matthew is a senior this year and will most likely be attending the University
of Michigan. He would like to thank his parents for always supporting and encouraging him. He
would also like to thank Ms. Manfredi and Mr. Benes for allowing him to be a part of this experience. Ms. Manfredi took him in as one of her own and made the auditorium a special place to be.
Matthew also wants to thank all of his pit buddies. From good luck cheese whiz and crackers before
every show to rules about taking your shoes off before entering the pit, his corner of buddies made
this a blast for him. Matthew also wants to thank the cast and tech crew. Without them, this
would just be an orchestra concert…with no lighting…No offence Mr. Benes. He wants to wish
everyone good luck and break-a-leg! ~Enjoy the Show!~

school have been theatre ones. Stephanie is excited about her final show at Athens, but it is a
bittersweet feeling. She would like to thank her family for putting up with the crazy theatre
schedule. Stephanie would also like to give a huge thanks to Frank, Mr. Brune and Mr. Benes.

thank the Sexy Six, her family, Devon and Neal, Frank, Laura, Ms. Manfredi and especially
Mr. Brune for the last four years of guidance and support. She is so excited to be going to college but

our seniors

Colleen Osak
Grade: 12th
Role: Oboe
Colleen is thrilled to be playing oboe in the Pit for her second Athens musical. She was initially
worried that no musical could possibly live up to the excitement of High School Musical, but Oliver! Has proven to be a worthy successor. (It does have an exclamation mark in its title, after all.)
The oboe sensation Donald Baker of the DSO recently performed at a local concert, and Colleen
thanks her lucky stars she was able to get a picture with this legend, who inspires her oboe-playing
to this day. She thanks all of her family and friends for their support throughout the years and
hopes everyone enjoys the show!
Sarah Park
Grade: 9th

Michelle Renaud
Grade: 12th

have seen Michelle this past fall as Majorie Baverstock in The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940

believe how fast this four year roller coaster ride through Athens High School has gone by, but she

costumers, and especially her family and friends for their love and support.

has been in many productions with The Ridgedale Players (her favorite role being Roderigo in
Babes in Toyland) and she performed last summer at Meadowbrook as Lucy in Narnia: the Lion,
the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Rachel loves to perform even off-stage, whether it’s in sports, playing the bassoon or making videos with friends. She would like to “consider herself one of the family” and hopes to apply her love of entertaining to the ATC stage again in the future.

Grade: 8th

family for their support and her directors for giving her a chance to be in a high school production.

this show and he would like to wish her good luck. Matt will be attending Michigan State University in the fall and hopes to achieve a career in the medical field. Matt would like to thank his
parents, Meg and Doug Roach, for all their encouragement, support and being able to put up with
him. He would also like to thank his extended family for always travelling long distances to come
and see his shows and for their support, and the Directors for giving him this opportunity and working with him. Lastly, he would like to dedicate his performance to his Grandfather for always supporting him in everything whether it is singing, theatre, piano, hockey, or those special talks.

Wenzel in The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. She has also been a chorus member in Once Upon a
Mattress, Thespian Susan in High School Musical and Florence (of Neil Simon’s female version of
The Odd Couple) in ATC’s night of Scenes. Julianna is thrilled to have the opportunity of bringing her violin on stage. She would like to thank her parents, her brother Ken, Ms. Manfredi, Mr.

Nick Sedky
Grade: 9th
Role: Oliver
Nick is thrilled to be in his first appearance with the Athens Theatre Company. Playing Oliver
helps him remember his time in England where he was in his first musical, “South Pacific”, and
was chosen to play the part of Jerome. While he was in England, Nick attended Stagecoach Theatre School for three years, where he preformed in several variety shows. From then on, Nick knew
he wanted to act. He attended Interlochen Theatre Summer Camp in 2007 and portrayed the Ace
Reporter in “The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf”. The following summer he attended the Theatre Camp
at Troy Athens High School and played the part of the dwarf servant to the evil White Witch in
“The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”. There, he met many of the great people who are now
in the cast of Oliver. He knew that the working with this amazing group of actors, singers, and
dancers would be a wonderful experience. Nick would like to thank Ms. Manfredi for her support,
encouragement and her confidence in him throughout the production. He would also like to thank
Logan Manfredi, one of Nick’s closest and best friends, for informing him about the musical. He
would also like to thank Natalie for her help with dialog and Frank for all his help with vocals.
Finally, Nick would like to thank his family for their love and support during the production.
Natalie Sparbeck
Grade: 12th
Role: Nancy
Natalie is thrilled to be a part of Oliver!. Natalie is very sad that this will be her last production on the ATC stage. She has been with the ATC for the past four years. You may have seen her
most recent performance as the eccentric Bernice Roth in the Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. Her
past roles include Cathy in High School Musical, Chris Gorman in Rumors, Lady Merrill in Once
Upon a Mattress, Jake’s mother in Miracle on 34th Street, and was an ensemble member in Little Shop of Horrors. This past summer, Natalie also played regionally in The Lion, the Witch and
the Wardrobe at the Meadowbrook Music Festival. Her senior year on the Athens stage has flown
by. She couldn’t be more appreciative to play the role of Nancy. Natalie would like to thank her
mom, dad and her older brother, James for all of their time and support! She would like to thank
Mr. Brune for helping her grow as an actress and always being so encouraging. Thank you to
her vocal coach, Frank Pitts, for making me the singer I am today and also to her choreographer,
Laura Sak! Last but not least, her thanks must go out to Ms. Manfredi for being such an amazing director, teacher, mentor and friend – I love you! Natalie has hopes in the fall to be pursuing a
college education in theatre performance! For the last time – “break a leg ATC, I love you!”
Cassie Stanger

Cassie is in her third year performing with the Athens Theatre Company. She is very excited to be
a part of this production and she wishes the best of luck to the cast and crew!

Role: First Woman
This will be Kelly’s fourth and final show with the Athens Theatre Company. She fell in love
with theatre her freshman year when she was in Little Shop of Horrors with her brother David.
Following that, she was in Miracle on 34th Street in the fall of her sophomore year, and wench
number two in Once Upon a Mattress the same year. There are so many great memories that happened with that ATC – it is impossible to name them all. She loves all of the amazing friends that
she has made throughout the years, and will miss the family created here when she leaves for college in the fall. Now for her senior year, she is excited to be a part of the ATC production of Oliver!
Richard Stokes, II
Grade: 12th
Role: Dr. Grimwig
Richard is a senior at Athens High School and has been participating in ATC productions since
his freshman year. This is his last show, and being Co-Vice President, he will miss it greatly. He
is very excited about doing Oliver! and having the experience of doing a period piece with dialect
changes. Having been in many shows with the ATC, he has had many opportunities to display his
talent, and has the best wishes for his classmates’ success in this show, and hopes they all will shine
on stage. He says, “Being on stage is a golden opportunity, and nothing else will ever compare to it.
I am very happy that I have expressed my passion in such a way.” Richard thanks everyone who
has supported him in the past and will in the future. The ATC will always be his second family.
Rachel Voight
Grade: 10th
Role: Flute
This is Rachel’s first year in the Pit with the ATC. She is a sophomore playing the ‘Floboe’ (a flute
playing the oboe part) this year and is very excited to be part of this production. She would like to
thank her family and flute teacher for helping her achieve her goals.
Brandon Wernette
Grade: 10th
Role: Noah Claypole
This is Brandon’s first show at Athens. Freshman year the productions conflicted with his two
main sports, soccer and cross country running. He has always enjoyed drama and music doing various skits at church and playing guitar for the young children. He also plays piano and saxophone.
Along with music and drama, Brandon also likes the art of poetry and photography. Balancing
all these things with the biggest time consumer of all, school, is difficult, but somehow he manages
without going insane.
Linda Yuen
Grade: 12th
Role: Violin
Linda, a senior, is a talented young woman who has been in the fine arts since her youth. As a
four-year-old, she began to take lessons for piano. AS the years passed, Linda picked up the flute
and kept it for three years. In 4th grade, she began to play the violin. Ever since, she has been
passionate about her instrument. She has taken private lessons, in addition to improving herself
through her passion, and she has been in the Athens Symphony Orchestra for two years; however,
this is her first year as a Pit Orchestra member. Next year, Linda plans to attend Michigan State
University and will be working in the medical field, as well as minoring in Chinese.
Sarah Zarbaugh
Grade: 9th
Role: Bet/Oom-Pah-Pah Dancer
Sarah is a freshman at Athens and 15 years old. She’s been singing since she was two and dancing
ever since she could. She loves the stage! She would never be here without the encouragement of her
incredible friends. She is so excited to be in this production.
Stephen Zelda
Grade: 12th
Role: Mr. Bumble
Stephen is thrilled to play the role of Mr. Bumble in Oliver! but is also very sad that this will be
his last production with the ATC. Being involved in nine shows in the past four years with the
ATC has been the most amazing experience ever. Stephen has been blessed with the opportunity
to play fun characters in shows such as the Jester in Once Upon a Mattress, Ernie Cusack in Rumors, and Ken De La Maize in The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. Stephen is so grateful for
all the memories and all the friends he has made from being involved with this theatre company.
The ATC has helped him grow into the person he is today. Stephen would like to thank Laura for
teaching him a thing or two about dancing, Frank for his wonderful voice coaching, Bob for helping him so much with character development, Chris and Gino for all of the technical support and
set, and of course, Manfreds, for everything she has done for him. Stephen would also like to thank
his family for all their support and having to deal with him whenever he’s not a rehearsal. The
time Stephen has spent with the ATC is truly unforgettable and he is so glad he got involved.

This is Crystal’s first year with the ATC Pit Orchestra. She is ecstatic about the show and loves
