Acts 17:6 - Yates Baptist Association
Volume 51, Issue 5 MAR/APR 2009 The Yates Baptist Association is a partnership of diverse congregations working together to encourage and enable congregations to be effective and innovative in their missions for Christ. Ac 7:6 1 ts Featuring authors: Thom S. Rainer and Sam S. Rainer III April 28, 2009, 9:30 a.m. Apex Baptist Church Cost: $49 per person MORE THAN TWO-THIRDS OF CHURCH GOING YOUNG ADULTS DROP OUT BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18 AND 22 Alarming, isn’t it? 70% of young church goers become dechurched. Why? “And the survey (research) said:” Top Ten Reasons Church Dropouts Stopped Attending Church 10. 9. 8. 7. 6. 5. 4. 3. 2. Was going to church to please others. Chose to spend more time with friends outside the church. Disagreed with the church’s stance on political or social issues. Didn’t feel connected to the people in my church. Became too busy though still wanted to attend. Moved too far away from the church to continue attending. Work responsibilities prevented me from attending. Moved to college and stopped attending church. Church members seemed judgmental or hypocritical. “And the #1 answer was . . . “ 1. Simply wanted a break from church.
