t Futura we have hundreds of different
leathers to choose from. Whatever you are
looking for in terms of colour, feel or
texture; we’ve got it covered.
Leather is a natural product and each hide is unique.
The natural marks you see should not be regarded as
a fault but add to the beauty and character of real
leather and will not affect the performance of the
leather in any way.
Suitability Guide
The type of leather you require will depend very
much on where it is going to be used and how you
want it to look.
Full grain leather is generally regarded as the best
you can buy. It is available with an aniline (sauvage),
pull up, semi-aniline and pigmented finish. Full
aniline and pull up leather is dyed with soluble dyes
which allow the texture and natural character of the
hide to be seen with a top coat of oil or wax added to
give a natural or distressed look but requires a little
more care during use. Semi aniline leather has a thin
transparent lacquer top coat added to help protect it
from staining, while pigmented leather is the most
durable type ideal for heavier use.

protect the natural beauty of leather, are available to

Technical Specifications
Futura leathers are manufactured under the ISO
9001 quality system and comply with
British/European upholstery standards. All ranges in
this brochure can be supplied to BS7176/BS5852
Crib 5, when used in conjunction with the correct
foam composition. Marine (IMO), automotive and
aviation (FAR) standards can also be achieved on
some of our ranges.
Corrected grain and half grain leather has had the
surface grain of the hide sanded to remove excessive
imperfections and in the case of corrected grain the
surface is then embossed with an artificial grain
pattern. These types are generally not as soft as full
grain leather and are available in many finishes from
aniline to pigmented.

Leather is a natural product and variations in colour and texture may occur. The samples in this
brochure are only offered as a guide. Due to continuous range introductions, it is sometimes necessary
to discontinue a range or individual colour. If this occurs, we usually have a recommended
replacement. Please check availability when specifying. As a guide to ordering, one linear metre of 54
inch fabric is approximately equal to 1.7 square metres of leather.
