We met during a party at Liberty Grand, which,
ironically, neither of us wanted to attend, but
our friends convinced us to go out as it was
the long weekend. At the end of the night we
were introduced through friends and exchanged
numbers thinking nothing of it. A few days later, we
went on a date – once again thinking nothing of
it. The date from the beginning to end was simply
amazing. It was as though we had known each
other all of our lives and we were finally meeting.
I would say we fell in love then and there. For
the proposal, he took me to the spot where we
had our first date by the lake. It was simple, but
sentimental and exactly what I had hoped for!

our inspiration
I knew from the get go that I wanted a
black and white with deep blue lighting
theme. I wanted it to be very modern,
contemporary and elegant.
we loved
The favourite part of the wedding was
definitely the décor! The other part we
loved was our engagement shoot with Z
Molu Photography. We had such a fun time
with this shoot and the pictures were just
unbelievable. We used the engagement
shoot as our slideshow in the lobby at the
reception and the guests loved the pictures!
We also loved what Sheenimpressions
created for our wedding cards. They were
designed in a way so that our guests had
a feel from the beginning of what our
wedding theme was and we were really
pleased with the way they turned out.
tips & advice
I realize planning a wedding can be stressful,
but you really need to believe that it will
all come together. I recommend hiring
a wedding planner and definitely having
meetings with the key people involved,
especially your wedding party so that
the timing can be flawless on the big day.
Do not let the wedding become bigger
than what you two share. It’s important that
you both make time to go on dates and
just have fun, without having to discuss the
wedding. I would also suggest if possible, to
have at least a 2 week honeymoon – you
will need it after all the wedding planning!

About the Design
Fresh and fabulous. Incorporating Pantone’s colour of
the year, the eye-catching combination of tangerine
and turquoise paired with crisp white creates a

Can you imagine a more spectacular or romantic beginning to your new
life together than beginning your honeymoon under the brilliant Kenyan
skies on your very own private star bed?
Your dramatically designed, handcrafted wooden star bed sits on a
raised platform and it is only partially covered with a thatched roof.
The unique “Mukokoteni” bed on wheels can either be wheeled onto
the open deck area for an unforgettable night under the stars, or
left under the shelter of the roof. The platforms are sited to ensure
complete privacy.
Awaken to witness the glow in the east as the sun rises up to greet you.
You may hear an elephant swimming in the pool below you, or watch
the gruff wart-hog and fragile gazelle waiting to be next. The landscapes
of the Loisaba Wilderness in northern Kenya spreads out before you
– a gem in this private 61,000-acre wilderness, abundant with wildlife
in the heart of Laikipia with the Ewaso Nyiro river on its southern
boundary, dramatic escarpments and wildlife plains in the north.
The star-beds are normally reached by one of many options; on foot,
horse, camel or vehicle. With two sets now in place, you can enjoy a
unique opportunity to travel between them both and the lodge as part
of a Star Bed Expedition, guided and hosted by a team of traditional
Samburu and Laikipiak Maasai warriors. Food is prepared in traditional
camp kitchen, barbeque style.
You can also choose the lodge or Loisaba Cottage, which is set back
from the escarpment in beautifully landscaped gardens with a private
swimming pool. The cottage has two double en suite bungalow rooms
in the gardens, one double en suite room accessed just off the main
area (with an open front and a smaller bathroom), and one double/twin
mezzanine room above the main area with access to a large bathroom
via an external staircase.
Of course, your accommodations are only the beginning of this
exceptional African safari. Loisaba Wilderness is outstandingly beautiful,
and its abundant wildlife is truly wild. Whether you go early morning
or late afternoon, your guide will take you across the plains, through
the bush or along the riverbank viewing the wide variety of game, birds,
plants and trees that Loisaba has to offer. In big game country, you will
likely encounter African wildcat, caracal, leopard, lion and cheetah as
well as a wide range of antelope such as the greater kudu, eland, duiker,
dik dik, Thompson’s gazelle and gerenuk as well as a plethora of bird
species.
