Darron Meares
Darron Meares is CEO of Meares Auction
Group and owner of Meares and Associates, LLC
dba Bowtie Benefit Auctions. Meares is responsible
for coordinating live and timed online auctions
serving customers across the globe.
Meares teaches auction law, auction promotion,
Uniform Commercial Code for Auctioneers, online
advertising and social networking to four auction
school classes per year. In addition, Meares is
frequently called to speak at state and international auctioneer association
seminars - currently 27 states, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Darron achieved the Master Personal Property Appraiser (MPPA)
designation from the National Auctioneers Association Education Institute in
2007 for his work in the field and court testimony. Meares is current with
Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
Russ Hilk
Russ Hilk began his auctioneering career in
Hopkins, Minnesota at the company Fram Fram
which specialized in buying and selling industrial
machinery, equipment, tooling, metals and
materials. He then began his own auction business,
Hoff-Hilk Auction Services in 2002.
Mr. Hilk founded Wavebid in 2011 after
spending hours posting online auctions and feeling
there had to be a better way to manage auction
data. After selling his auction company, Hoff-Hilk
Auction Services to his partner, he started Wavebid and built an easy-to-use
auction software for professional auctioneers.
Adam Astley
Adam Astley is a partner with the law firm of
Slowiaczek, Albers & Astley in Omaha. While his
primary area of practice is domestic relations, he
has advised auctioneers and other businesses on a
wide variety of legal issues, and has helped solve a
number of problems which are unique to the auction
business. He has been in practice since 2004 when
he graduated magna cum laude from Creighton
University School of Law. He is a 2011 graduate of
the NSBA leadership academy, the immediate past chair of the NSBA Family
Law Section, and a 2014 fellow of the Nebraska Bar Foundation.
Tom Clabaugh
Tom Clabaugh is the principal consultant for
Clabaugh & Company of Papillion, NE. He Works
with Wind Lease Acquisition and Invenergy LLC to
develop wind energy farms in northwest Iowa and
north central Nebraska.
He also worked six years for First State Bank
Providing all types of commercial loans for real
estate purchases, refinancing, equipment
purchases, construction, lines of credit and term
loans using conventional financing or the SBA
programs to the business and owners. He also referred clients to their preferred
providers to assist in business transitions, money processing, FDIC insurance
over the $250k limits and payroll assistance.
Tom is a Board Member of Midlands Venture Forum and also held a seat
on the Board of Directors for the Ralston Area Chamber of Commerce.
