In her real life fairytale, Paula is not a damsel
in distress; she actually does the saving,
touching the lives of those who come her
way. She is not afraid to take risks, is not
scared of trying exotic dishes or walking
under the rain and getting her amazing
wardrobe soaked. As she excels, from
topping the Oblicon Departmental Midterms
and being part of the Dean’s List to being
sent to France through the Junior Term
Abroad Program, Pau shines with grace
under pressure and still manages to keep
her ruby shoes on the ground. People are
naturally drawn to her because of her faith
in God, her well-rounded personality, and
her brilliance. While keeping the little girl
in her, she is sure to step out into the world
spreading the delight of her persona and
redefining the meaning of being a princess.
Worth keeping in our lives, Pau will surely
continue to dazzle us all- just don’t make her
run!

said. All-Around Editor: A super sleuth
for free time and grammatical errors;
you can most likely find Iya B training in
perfecting the art of editing through blogs
and LiveJournal entries rather than doing
schoolwork. Food Imagist & Critic: Mere
description can instantly make this girl
hungry; thus, making her a sought after food
sampling critic and eating escapade buddy.
Artist: Her casual doodles of fat men, moles
and the like during those oh-so-boring
classes are surefire sources of entertainment.
Good thing NO ONE (‘no one’ meaning
professors) actually notices her. EGO Coach
& Friend: Specializing on self-confidence, her
motto is “Magiging mas mayabang ka pa sa
akin!” but most importantly Iyatot’s a great
friend and sister to have forever.
Armed with an electric guitar, he
perpetuated the Blues;
Always cunning…he is a great improviser;
A nifty person…he always gets away with
his talents;
He’d steal your frown away, leaving you only
with laughter.
A word of caution to those who might

She is the energy of the block. Whenever
she’s around, everybody seems to just
laugh and forget their problems. She is
the kind of person who listens to your
problems and will go out of her way just
to help you. She never seems to care what
other people might think of her but at the
same time, she always does her best not to
hurt anyone. She may look strong, tough
and mataray, but in all honesty, she is really
sweet, gentle, and kind. She’s a woman
with lots of potential. She is capable of
achieving anything she wants as long as
she is determined to go for it. She thinks
of others before herself. She always puts
her family, friends, and loved ones before
her. She’s a blessing from God to the
people who have met and have come to
know her.
The legend of Maxine is to be told,
remembering first that this blessed spectacle
comes only once every ten light years. And
that being said, it is still no sure thing.
Whoever said that Shim is “one tough
cookie to crack” would have to be right
and wrong. There’s a natural strength in
her character which makes it hard, if not
impossible, for one to mess around with.
Shim knows how to draw the line for the
right reasons. You can certainly expect her
to be the voice of direction in the face of
a crazy cramming session. She may come
across as suplada on first encounter, but
this girl can actually light up a room with
her attitude and cheer. As you get to know
Shim, you will eventually find a spirit that
constantly glows with happiness and
warmth. What truly makes her different
from all the rest is her power to hear what
her friends don’t say. It’s not difficult to
like her; it’s even close to impossible not
to. Everyone has one thing to say: discover
for yourself how it is to bask in the Shimmering brightness of her friendship!
Behind those catastrophic laughs and
stubborn smiles lies a strong and wonderful
person. Her positive outlook in life surely
touches people. Dianne Irish Cadorna has
got to be one of the bubbliest people
in Ateneo. She never fails to amaze and
entertain people through her crazy facial
expressions, ludicrous gestures and witty
words; she has the kulit factor. She can make
a person whom she just met for two minutes
feel like they have been friends for over ten
years. Moreover, Dianne’s flexibility, both
literally and figuratively, is beyond amazing.
She also speaks Korean and Chinese because
of her passion for Korean culture. While her
serious side is not that apparent, one must
not make the mistake of underestimating
her capabilities. This girl bums around and
sleeps luxuriously, but still manages to
ace tests or cram excellent papers without
breaking a sweat.

A lady of elegant simplicity, Camille will not
dupe you to enter never-never land, nor
fool you to accept sugar-coated realities. In
everyday struggles, she will undoubtedly
show you what’s real and what’s not, and will
never fail to remind you that everyday is a
day to take on new challenges. She speaks
her mind, listens with her heart and faces
trials head-on. She dares fearlessly and is
never afraid to reveal the frailty of others,
nor admit her own.
Our time is then so fortunate. Born off
the spitting flames likened to that of the
phoenix, she breathes fire and energy.
Passion isn’t just attributed to her— she
defines it with intensity. She gives the
ground that she treads solidity, and spice to
the air.
Control and her name never far apart. For
her, nothing is ever too large or too great an
ordeal. She could fit the world in those small
hands of hers! Best of all, she’s human in all
of its compassion and kindness. Ordinary, yet
extraordinary!
With a mind of a dreamer and a heart of a
little child, Camille will surely rule the world
with no lies and pretensions—just genuine
smiles, sensible advices and grounded
criticisms. At the end of the day, she will
still be that ordinary girl with extraordinary
courage to paint the trees orange and the
rivers yellow—all while eating Blue Skies on
the side.

K is for Kathleen: smart, witty, a speaker,
a writer. K is for Kris Aquino, whom she
emulates through voice, actions and even
diction. K is for Kid at heart and credit goes
to her belief in fairy tale happy endings.
K is also for Kilig, made apparent after
UAAP games and certain birthdays when
a certain someone would make himself
present (cue Rizza and Iya’s drumbeats). K
is for Kalokohan: from Amiel’s Black Hole to
dodging shady characters during Embassy
nights, and from riding tricycles in the
pouring rain to inventing code names for
teachers. K is lastly, for Kath: a hand to hold
and a shoulder to cry on; always on the
go and forever independent; an AJMAn,
a LEXer, an AMA-er, a GUIDONeer, and a
REGCOM volunteer; a lover, a fighter, but
most of all, most important of all, a friend,
one is proud of and glad of having.

First impressions of Mickey Chatto would
usually be: really smart, serious, highly
respected and admired by his peers. And
once you find out that he wants to be a
lawyer, you’ll agree that he is eloquent
(and defensive) enough to be a successful
one. Admittedly, he is all that. But you
can’t ever rely on first impressions alone.
Mickey’s… a pleasant surprise. He’s
someone who has a lot of interesting
things to say - you won’t get bored. You
wouldn’t expect this guy to be very corny
and as much as you wouldn’t want to
laugh at his jokes, his infectious smile
pretty much seals the deal that you will.
Mickey is a total cheese – sorry, charmer,
he knows exactly what to say and how to
say it…and it works! Glimpses of Mickey
don’t do him justice at all. The thing is,
he’s also got such a warm heart, you can’t
be limited to just glimpses.
The best way to describe Kriska would be
to listen to her honey-sweet singing that
makes one’s ears melt in a pleasant way,
like butter on warm toast. The Kriska effect
brings you back to feel the goodness of
life – that everything is not so bad. Her
innocence and sweetness is a welcome
balm to the cynicism and jadedness of the
world. Though seemingly delicate at first,
she reveals a deep inner strength that makes
others stand back in quiet admiration. A
people-person by heart, her personality
emanates from her, covering the room like a
shield against tension, boredom and stress,
as if her smiling and caring demeanor itself
were her soothing singing. Her natural gift
is that she makes people smile in a genuine
way, which is why most people open up to
her and trust her with their feelings as if she
were their caring big sister – the one who’d
go the extra mile for them.
Jan Chiu’s march to the Loyola was a difficult
one especially when you have ADMU, DLSU
and UP recruiting him to swim for them.
Jan says that he undeniably made the right
choice since his stay in the Ateneo has not
just been about learning, but becoming
the best. From being hailed Mr. LEX 2007 to
bagging two gold medals in UAAP Season
70, he’s already made an unforgettable mark
in the Atenean community. His claim to
fame was joining the 2005 Southeast Asian
Games, and he has indeed gone a long way
now. Not to mention, he was even featured
in Meg’s March 2008 issue for being an
outstanding student-athlete. Then again, his
years here in the Ateneo are but a pit stop in
his journey to the Olympics and law school,
and he’s not stopping anytime soon given
that he has what it takes to make it big. As
Jan quotes a Nike ad, “Everything you need
is already inside.”

Decision: Plaintiff was found to have
survived senior year syndrome and will be
charged with graduation this year.
Summary: Lovable, thoughtful, caring
and kind are only a few words that could
describe the indescribable about this
astonishing individual. Bern has this innate
ability for making those stuck in a gloomy
rut; forget about their woes and troubles.
I don’t know how she does it, but she’s
able to charm everyone she meets. You
could actually call Bern “Miss Congeniality”
because her infectious laughter and
dazzling personality has won the hearts
of many. One thing that never ceases to
amaze me though is this girl’s ostensibly
superior intelligence. She definitely
knows how to study and at the same time
party. Bern is my favorite definition of the
epitome of brains and beauty.

Ian chooses to be a leader: creative,
dependable, responsible, decisive,
unselfish and disciplined. He constantly
thinks of innovative solutions and creative
business ideas to make the world a better
place to live in. But more than being a
visionary, what makes him truly unique is
his ability to deliver results. Ian respects
the uniqueness of every person. He aims
to be a great businessman and eventually
to be a catalyst of our country’s progress.
Ian is quite open-minded. He is a friend to
all. He also keeps surprising everyone by
doing more than what is asked from him.
A smart and hardworking fellow, Ian is
bound to succeed in his future endeavors.
One doesn’t need spider senses to know if
RJ is coming your way. Yes, he’s that dude
with a lot of key chains strapped around
his bag with the most noticeable forehead
in the world. RJ is really hard to miss seeing
as he’s a towering figure clad in dark “emo”
outfit. However, don’t let the “emo-rocker”
facade fool you because this dude is far
from being called Mr. Down. He’s the most
hyper and mahirit person in the group
who’s sure to get the crowd amped up
for another round of jokes. RJ also has a
laid back approach to life, especially with
his grades; he takes the time to smell the
roses. Aside from all that, RJ is one of the
best conversationalists in town who can
instantly get you gabbing till the wee
hours of dawn. He can basically talk about
anything, may it be his “superb” driving
prowess to mundane things. This guy is
definitely one tough act to follow!
“Ano ba yan, ang gulo ng buhok ko. Hindi
pa ako nagsusuklay!” If you’ve heard
that line, you must have already met Gia.
Spending a day with Gia would amount
to a day filled with misadventures, fun
and laughter. She may seem very shy
and reserved at first, but once you get to
know her, you’ll see that she is actually
very talkative. You can talk to her about
ANYTHING under the sun. May it be about
cramming, food or day-to-day tsismis,
every conversation’s just as fun. She may
seem innocent but once you’ve had your
share of substantial conversations with her,
she’ll surely change the way you look at
everything… in a disturbingly green way.
But Gia is more than just that. She is also
an honest confidante and a great friend.
That’s why she is treasured by the people
who know her best. Life would definitely
be lacking zest without Gia.
Penny never fails to amaze, to surprise. At times
you would think you’ve got her all figured
out until she does something unexpected.
A walking paradox, Penny can be a beautiful
mess, predictably unpredictable. She is one of
the easiest people to talk to, with her friendly
disposition and open mind. It does not take a
lot for a person to get comfortable talking to
her, although you would be smart not to get
on her bad side. Strike a conversation about
anything– from the latest Chanel collection
to the philosophies of Arendt– and she will
surely have a lot to say. This one’s a fiery
character, who goes through great lengths
for the things, not to mention the people, she
loves. It is passion for the relationships she
builds that sets her apart. She is a woman of
charming vulnerability, known to wear her
heart on her sleeve. But don’t let the seeming
frailty fool you, because underneath that is
an incomparable strength that comes from
experiences worthy of people twice her age.
A phoenix in her own right, she emerges
renewed from every adversity she has faced.
I’ll give a million bucks to anyone who
could make this girl laugh out loud. Lynlen
has this unassuming aura that will make
you wonder what’s on her mind. She looks
at you with childlike innocence with her
big, brown, lovely eyes that says more than
what her lips could -- a thousand words
which pierces the heart and melts the soul
within. And when she speaks -- oh yes,
she speaks -- with a soft maiden’s voice
that rings a melody in your ears, you are
taken aback for she is not really the girl
you thought she was. She is neither silent
nor unassuming. She talks to you as if you
knew each other from way back. She may
not laugh but she exudes such joy and
radiates such a sweet air that will render it
impossible for you not to like her.

Dan?J (dan-jay), n. 1. a joker who doesn’t
mean to joke. 2. a master note-taker,
although there is no assurance that what
he has in his notes are spelled correctly
(‘Mameluks’ à ‘Mommy looks’). 3. a world
traveler and souvenir shirt collector (16
Euro countries in 4.5 months!), but who
forgot to bring his passport to the French
Embassy when he applied for a visa (“Ate
Fe did not tell me to bring my passport…”
“WHO IS ATE FE?!”). 4. a constant teacher’s
favorite; it doesn’t matter whether he
likes the teacher or not. 5. everyone’s
favorite, actually, even probably his Korean
dentist’s, who’s spent the last n years fixing
his teeth. (He’s Dacanay’s Bell of Sumpaico,
JTA-Lille’s Mec, and JTA-LM’s Man-J). 7. a
good son, friend, and brother who spent
his precious Euros on pasalubong rather
than buying food for himself. 8. a boy:
unforgettable, very much loved.
Even though he doesn’t say much and it
seems like he’s not around, Gerro/Philip
knows exactly what’s going on and how you
feel. Talking to him is easy because it can
be about anything—from the shallowest,
most mundane gossip to the deep, dark,
heavy stuff. He also likes to sleep—a
lot—except perhaps on the eve of an exam.
His schedule? Zero sleep for whole nights
cramming for them, but spends entire
long weekends on video games and T.V.
series. Unintentionally smart, he would
frantically cram for a test and still manage
to ace it. Gerro/Philip is fiercely loyal to his
friends and takes every obstacle in life as
a learning experience, carries it with the
utmost humility and patience, and goes on
to brighten anyone’s day with his hundredmega-watt smile. Known for his silly jokes
and easygoing personality, he’s just the kind
of guy you’d want as your best friend.

“She listens to hardcore alternative music,
yet croons to the softest serenades. She
spends hours giggling after reading Twilight,
yet keeps silent about topping Accounting
exams. She crafts the best management
papers, yet composes poetic blogs on the
side. She cracks the nuttiest jokes, yet her
opinions reflect a woman of principle. She
spent hours looking for that perfect crepe
in Paris, yet she reprimands her father for
eating too much sweets. She admits to
panicking when driving her Swift, yet she’s
willing to drive kilometers for that perfect
Tagaytay trip with her loved ones. She thinks
she’s an ordinary Atenean—everybody else
thinks otherwise.” – Carlo Pielago
She’s that young lady studying her notes
intently, with a look of deep concentration
on her face, mumbling to herself a little too
loudly for some people to turn and stare.
And one should indeed stare—for Hazel is so
much more than the intense, all-work-andno-play student that often meets the eye.
Once she takes her eyes off her readings,
she becomes this wacky, high-spirited lady
with her quirky yet adorable ways—singing
“The Ordertaker” in a pambirit voice out
of nowhere for instance, or squealing or
shouting like a madwoman as she plays her
favorite computer game.
A person is measured not by how many
victories they have won, but by how many
defeats they come back from. – Mars is such
a character. A fighter at heart with a “never
give up attitude,” she could intimidate her
male counterparts with her aggressiveness
and willingness to succeed. Whatever
she wants, she gives herself into it. She is
the quintessential tough chick and may
look intimidating with her imposing and
self-assuring stance, but she is the best
confidante anyone could have once her
equally tough shell is cracked. Her words
sting, but such is the case for putting up
a façade is the last thing she’d do. She is
smart, tough, diligent, and above all, she has
integrity. Mars knows where she has been,
where she is now, and definitely knows
where she wants to be – with the rest of the
shakers and movers of this world. Telling her
otherwise would be a useless effort.
David \ Day-vid, Dhey-veed, Dah-bid, Deyviiid\ n 1: characterized by high-pitched
voice and a mocking laugh 2: brutally
honest and frank 3: insults the common
enemy with sometimes below-the-belt
comments that often leave them in a state
of perplexed laughter 4: his comments
pave the way for discernment (if you’re
not a dense common enemy) 5: a person
who loves to play practical jokes on other
people 6: once he gives you his loyalty, he
will keep your friendship forever. 7: a big

See, Hazel is quite more than intense. Thing
is, if faith can move mountains, her fervor
can move the entire earth. So, next time you
hear her mumble a bit too loudly, don’t let
the moment pass. Stare. Stare and feel her
ardor move you.

College isn’t just about studying, neither
is it just about having fun. The best way to
spend it is to know how to balance both-and Rox is one of those who know how
to handle this. Rox is all heart, and you’ll
know that from the first minute you meet
her-that easy smile, the friendly eyes, that
pinch of feistiness, and her natural grace.
All these make it easy for anyone to love
her. She believes in hard work and loyalty,
and puts her whole heart into everything
she does. You can bank not only on her
beauty and brains, but on her huge heart
as well. She’ll easily ace an Oblicon test,
talk through Philo orals, and spend time
with her friends--still with a smile on her
face. With the endless opportunities before
her, she’s no doubt bound for greatness-whether she chooses to be a lawyer or go
corporate or to simply be a housewife (just
don’t let her do Sports).
Arthur plays basketball every weekend and
has Yahoo! Sports as his homepage—he
truly is a guy’s guy. But in a crowd of
testosterone-filled males, he is one of the
few willing to be the sole thorn among
roses. Having female groupmates for years
has revealed his many endearing sides: he
is the laidback dude, often telling them
to “relax”; the perfect gentleman, always
looking out for them; the witty jester,
never missing an opportunity for laughter;
and the sensible knight, frequently giving
them a dose of reality.
Most have the courage to dream, but
only the wise make their dreams happen.
Uncompromising as she is fascinating,
Aggie is well on her way. A crazy mix of
brains, beauty and, surprisingly – brawn,
she is definitely a go-getter. Hurdling
voluminous books, surviving Manila traffic
on a stick-shift and climbing impossibly
high mountains in slippers is only a
dose of what Aggie can do coupled with
her unwavering smile, exceptional wit,
unflagging humor and yes, charming
poise. Indeed, our Gabriela is certainly
well endowed in so many ways that would
make any set of parents and six siblings,
proud.
Freshman year became a breeze
because she, like the soft winds
of January, made the new ever familiar.
And although the sophomore year burned us
With challenges, she, like the first drizzles of
May
Poured life into our exam-scorched minds.

Raf’s looks certainly betray him. His mop
of hair and menacing look seem to give
away the idea that this guy is just another
good-for-nothing delinquent. This might
be the impression that he’s keen to project,
but those who know him know better.
He might seem quiet and reserved, but
on the contrary, Raf is as child-like as one
could get. His penchant for graphic novels,
computer games, and pirates reveal his
love for wonder and fantasy. His knack
for experimenting show that he could
as easily be a mad scientist as he could a
ruthless lawyer. Raf is up for anything – as
long as it’s legal and moral, of course- and
this is apparent whether he’s exploring
the streets of Katipunan, the catacombs
of some geeky RPG game, or his threshold
for alcoholic beverages. Raf might look
threatening and intimidating, but he is
actually a good, little boy at heart.
No matter what, Arthur is everyone’s go-to
guy. He offers an in-the-good-and-in-thebad-times type of friendship, always an
early bird at parties but also the first one
to call in times of emergency. In the end,
all his friends agree unanimously: he is the
best kind of man there is.
After two years of seemingly endless search
for thrill and spectacle, Maral, in her third and
fourth year, traversed the path of security and
dispassion – she literally brought back her high
school self slash her overly grade-conscious
and highly superficial version just to feel
invulnerable once more.
Maral leaves Ateneo without any illegitimate
regret, without any dishonest expectations,
and without dramatic goodbyes.

There are multiple facets that make up
Sandy Garcia. He can be any character
in any movie like his Sean Connery
impersonation that has become a favorite
among friends. He can put drama to any
line and turn a simple conversation into
a performance. Also a connoisseur of the
finer things in life, fishing, yachting, rifles,
and steaks differentiate Sandy from the
rest. His knowledge of things is limitless.
To add to that, he amazingly keeps his
body fit while filling his bottomless pit
of a stomach. Sandy can also amaze you
with his musical know-how and guitar
skills. And finally, there is nothing that
this person will not give you: a good time,
great food, and the best company you can
ever have. He would never hesitate to offer
whatever he has left, even if it was the last
drop of water on earth. He is indeed the
man with a golden heart.
Sheila (shē●lă), noun. 1.) A resilient character,
Sheila has the spirit of a survivor. 2.) Possessing
wisdom beyond her life experience, Sheila
never misses an opportunity to learn
and re-learn the art of living the best life.
3.) Transparent, without any façade or
pretensions, she abhors hypocrisy. 4.) Clever,
witty and unbelievably funny, Sheila never fails
in making people smile. 5.) Cute. Although she
prefers to be called such, Sheila challenges the
“cute stereotype.” 6.) In relation to number 5,
most agree to call her such, but to a few, she
is beautiful. 7.) Intelligent, Sheila is a model
student and leader, and she makes it look
effortless. 8.) Hopeful. Sheila is the optimist we
all wish to be. 9.) Honest, she is grounded to
her truths and inspires others to do the same.
Her tall, intimidating beauty often makes
people wary of getting to know Anne.
But do not let the superficialities fool you.
Beneath her sophisticated literary tastes is
a romantic bookworm who dreams about
knights and princes. Beyond her I-am-ashopaholic look is a well-balanced student
who manages to study, participate in org
activities, and make time to watch the Blue
Eagles in action – all accomplished without

him, is a remarkable person. He is extremely
eloquent in three languages, Filipino, English
and especially Chinese. His proficiency in
the latter has garnered him various awards,
particularly 1st prize in the 7th Chinese
Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for
Foreign College Students in China. He was
also one of the Ten Outstanding Chinese
Men of the Philippines when he was in High
School. An extremely good orator, he can
wow crowds with his booming, expressive
voice alone.
Like Cher Horowitz, Sher is the quintessential
sassy, sweet and ultra feminine glam
princess-but she is anything but Clueless.
An early achiever and talented student,
Sherleen has always had the drive and
excellent work ethic in achieving her
long-time goal to be a corporate lawyer.
With her sharp intelligence and love for
speaking mixed with her bubbly, ladylike
and charming looks and personality,
Sher definitely demands attention at her
command. Her zeal for leading and love
for learning is evidenced by her active
involvement in her college organizations.
But more than her academic achievements,
Sher certainly knows how to have a great
time and make the most out of her life
with her family and friends. Indeed, Sher’s

Mark is more than meets the eye. Behind
the friendly smile and the genuine laugh

Dake is a man of great contradictions,

Despite being a seemingly serious person,
Dake is someone who has this natural
sense of humor that endears him to
people. He has this ability to make serious
situations into a laughing matter. To
people who have no idea of his academic
achievements, he may seem to be an
indifferent, carefree person but behind the
smiles, the brainless, ridiculous jokes is an
unexpectedly witty person. He works hard
for the grade and he certainly gets them.
In just one year he managed to go on JTA
and nab a one semester scholarship in
NUS! There can be no stopping him. He is
driven and he has the skills for success. No
one can tell what his future holds but it will
be, undeniably, bright and promising.

This good-looking, natural-born comedian

feeling down. A kid at heart, Jon2x still enjoys
cartoons, showing his odd dance moves,
and plain fooling around while displaying
a happy-go-lucky attitude. Also, he has a
talent for fixing things, cooking, extreme
sports, cramming, thinking outside the box
and belting out Aerosmith’s I Don’t Wanna
Miss a Thing during his KTV sessions with
his friends. This true blue Davaoeño is a
real friend that stays true to you till the end
no matter what. Ever loyal, supportive and
reliable, he has the mark of what a true and
best friend should be.
But most of all, people forget that Nino
is beyond all these talents, acclaims and
accolades. He listens to his friends if they
have problems, and gives wonderful advice.

Nothing much except he’s one neat and nice

doesn’t fuss over her studies and she often
finds herself buried with the heaps of
things that she has to do; yet surprisingly
she never seems to be bothered by it
all. However, Carleen is the ideal friend.
She’s one of the nicest, funniest, and most
beautiful people you’ll ever meet. She
is rich in experiences to tell, knowledge
to partake, and love to give to everyone.
Carleen has the power to make anyone
love her. She has the ability to make
anyone laugh without the slightest
intention of doing so. When she speaks,
everyone listens and when she smiles,
everyone laughs. To be with her is to be
loved. Knowing that you are loved by her

kind of sweetness. He’s also a real family
man, always knowing who to prioritize and
why. This trendy guy is a full package –

Most of us know Butch under many aliases
such as Boooooch, the Boochman, Booch
yezzur and Booch with the fur. He is also
sometimes known in basketball as the best
playing coach around. You won’t forget him
when you see his signature tip-toe floater
and technical foul. He’s the MVP in DotA and
the ultimate Master Planner for most of the
barkada’s gimmicks. To us, however, Butch is
simply a no-BS friend who will be there for
us for absolutely anything. No matter what
alias he goes by or what role he plays, Butch
has always been a dependable, down-toearth and quirky person who takes things
in stride while doing his best to work with
what is given. He can be a fan boy, a geek,
a wingman, a DotA master (though he will
adamantly deny this) and a champion (but
retired) bowler. The bottom line is that Butch
is a great guy who will ALWAYS have your
back.

We often see knights, heroes or macho
men in movies and TV shows whom we
think are trying to save the ladies, trying
to be all good and noble, but we all know
they’re just actually trying to feed their
egos. This guy is one of them. Most men
just thrive on challenges and Jahnus is
no exception. May it be a DotA game,
a basketball tournament, or a girl, he’s
always going to put his best foot forward,
often intimidating other men. But behind
this macho façade, he really is a “family
man.” Often playing the responsible kuya

Most would think that at first glance,
Clauds would seem quite unapproachable
and shy. But if you take time and effort
to know her, you’ll see a wonderful,
kindhearted and fascinating person. She’s
one of the few people who will sincerely
take time to listen to you. She also won’t
fail to cheer you up with her random,
funny comments. Clauds never tries to be
someone she is not; she has a strong sense
of who she is and who she will become.
People around her get inspired with the
way she expends all her energy to fulfill
a commitment she made, she tackles on
every opportunity that comes in her way
without hesitation. Instead of her being
influenced, she is most likely to influence
you with what she wants to happen. And
this she does with so much grace that you
won’t even notice that you have been
influenced. That’s how good she is.
If one yearns to be liberated from stress, to
laugh one’s heart out, and to experience
total insanity all of the time, Edson is
undeniably the person to look forward
to. With his loud and Chinese-accented
voice, he makes the school environment
entertaining in his own way and makes
complaining about school workload a lot
of fun – one heck of a chatterbox indeed!
Seriously, Edson is one of the humblest
persons one gets to meet. He doesn’t
brag about his accomplishments – and
that’s an understatement of all that he has
achieved in college. Though not a typical
grade conscious student, he is definitely
an achiever. He knows what he wants and
does not settle for anything less. He is brave
enough to voice his opinions and does not
compromise his ideals, especially when he
knows he is right. He may not know it, but
Edson – this comic, daring, clever, ingenious
guy – simply rocks!
Rizza to me is equal to food. She’s sweet
(like the turon she pretends she doesn’t
like), but can be contagiously hyper (like
the pink gulaman we used to drink during
First Year). She can be a little bit odd, but in
a good way (like those Del Monte prunes
she likes snacking on), and she’s the classic
Chinese-Pinoy—not too traditional, but not
too liberal either (like that chilled taho sans
syrup she purchased nearly every afternoon
one time during Junior Year). With her, you’ll
never go hungry, and neither sad, bored,
or lonely. She’s the Haagen-Dazs to your
crappy day and an entire lauriat when you’re
feeling celebratory. For most people, Rizza
Sy may be just another face in the crowd,
but for me, Rizza Sy is an eating buddy, a
classmate, a partner-in-crime, a study guide,
a conscience, and a friend. A good friend.
Rizza Sy for me, like food, is indispensable.
Reasons why you’ll never lose Chrissie Tan:
1) Her boisterous laughter can be heard
by almost everyone who has ears. 2) She
has insane but funny antics that would
put anyone with her to shame. 3) She
sings J-pop songs (and forces anyone to
harmonize with her) with big matching
hand movements. 4) She has a surprisingly

With his flashy moves and rock star strut,
Jep changes the mood and aura both
inside and outside the classroom. He’s a
funny guy who never fails to end the day
without friends having to laugh at one of
his bloopers, made purposely of course…
Well not exactly! This street-smart friendly
guy never ceases to be the genuine person
that everybody loves. Jep’s passion for
living emanates through his pastimes:
playing basketball (he really is good at it),
doing his weird and crazy dance moves,
and his flashy singing during KTV. Set
to party every weekend, he still sets his
priorities straight and maintains to be the
smart guy that he is. As his creative shot
says, he is the “next best thing to Chris”.
While, some may disagree, for his friends,
he certainly comes close. Truly, experiences
with Jep are not only Good Times…But the
Best Times!
In the past years, Candice has almost overcome
her panic-driven, I-talk-to-myself, introvert
days to grow into a smart, confident, and witty
young heroine. She has found the courage to
bridge the gap between fantasy and reality,
and the humor to accept and to laugh at
her own mistakes. But her passion remains
resolute – she still dreams with determination,
strives with strength, and holds a friend’s hand
with her heart.
Four years ago, when people ask “Who is
Tori?,” they’d often get replies, like “Oh,
she’s the one who looks like a 12-year-old,”
or “She’s the one with her face always
buried in a book.” It’s true, actually… Back
then, her pastime was “studying,” and
all of her closest friends were her books.
However, fast forward to three years later,
and BAAMMM! She’s a totally different
person. Now, she’s outgoing, and her
friends are “actual” people. Throughout
the years, she has learned the skill of multitasking by partying on weekdays and
finishing her papers immediately after. She
has grown so much since that very first day
of class – from the very nerdy student to a
grown-up lady, ready to take on whatever
challenges may come her way. Though,
of course, there are some things that will
never change… she still looks like she
hasn’t aged a day!
No. She did not come from a transatlantic
flight back to Manila just a few hours
before. She was not a late registrant,
either. She missed her first Physics class
back in freshman year because she had no
clue where her classroom was. When she
actually showed up the next session, that
was how Mers came crashing down into
my life – and rightly so. From that moment
on, she and I have embarked on sporadic
journeys. She’s the type who’d sneak in
someone else’s pool just for the hell of
it. She’s also the type who would write
brilliant short stories one minute, then
catch her reading up on Beatniks and JeanPaul Sartre, and just when you’ve figured
her out, she’s trying on a pair of shoes. If
you really want to get to know Mers, ask
her what the closest distance between two
points is and then you can possibly spend
the perfect day with her.
Describing Kevin as “friendly” is an
understatement. Popularly known as “Kevin
Tsai,” this guy is probably one of those who
have developed the most friendships during
their whole stay in the Ateneo. Being very
approachable, he is easily called “Kev” or
“Kevs” by many. His witty, kind and sociable
demeanor won him the favor of both his
professors and classmates alike, so much
so that he is often a preferred member in
many school-related group projects. Kevin
is also known for his multilingual skills and
impeccable taste in clothing. A great leader,
a responsible student, an eloquent speaker
and a talented writer, he is proof that
grades alone are not representative of one’s
intelligence, abilities and potential. Intrepid,
ardent and driven by many ambitions in life,
Kevin is definitely one individual whose star
has yet to shine dazzlingly and lustrously as
never been seen before.
Nothing could be truer of Ingrid Taojo. It
is not to say, however, that her simplicity
should be confused with any sort of
naïveté. Rather, hers is the kind that only
makes the brightness of her classic appeal
shine through. There are no superficial
layers that need to be uncovered, no
shadows or facades to be dispelled. She is
who she is: an athlete, a traveller, a creative
soul, and a worshipper of beauty.
With her trust in the Great Director above, she
is a star who seizes opportunities, gambles
with well-thought choices, and triumphs with
heartfelt decisions. As a protagonist, she
admits that fear is her villain, but knows that
Faith will prevail in the end. This faith, coupled
with indomitable spirit, is her gift. It will take
her name to the marquees, and pretty soon,
the entire world will be her very own stage.

Four years ago, an awkward and much
chubbier Mikee stood at the crossroads
between high school and college. He
didn’t know what to expect, and he wasn’t
even sure if he wanted to find out at all.
Luckily for him, he moved on to have
the time of his life in the Ateneo. Today,
an equally awkward but significantly
thinner Mikee finds himself at yet another
crossroads. He looks back at all the
friendships formed and strengthened,
all the hours spent hanging out around
campus, all the out of town trips, the five
months he studied at Boston, and even all
the sleepless nights he spent cramming for
finals week. He will never forget these past
four years, but it’s time to move on, and he
plans to do so with confidence. He takes
a deep breath, puts on a smile, and greets
his new life in the real world with a loud,
resounding “Hellowww!”
“Silent water runs deep.” This saying holds
true for the reincarnated Buddha that is Mike
Uy. This gentle giant+F97’s intelligence is
humbled by his down to earth personality.
The genius of Mike lies in his curve-setting
skills in finance and accounting exams and
his ability to stay calm in defenses. The
barkada never needed a newspaper with
him around; his aptitude in politics rivals
even that of an aspiring president. He loves
playing basketball to the point of supporting
his favorite teams down to the last penny,
right Mike? A “party” Mike would be another
thing, as he is also known to be very “game”
going out after he curves yet another exam.
Though he seldom shows his dance moves,
you can still see him belting out karaoke
songs! Despite his silent nature, Mike keeps
his dream of heading his own mafia like Tony
Soprano…just kidding!
Val is known for her trademark eye-rolling
and fearless banter, having little problem
with unnerving confrontational situations
and being blunt with what she thinks.
Even so, she is definitely not the ice queen
people often imagine her to be. Seemingly
unapproachable at first, friends often find
time pass by quickly when they’re with her,
as she shops and talks about girly matters
but at the same time knows more about
sports and cars than most men. Moreover,
behind the admirable poise is the Val
friends have seen trip once in a while.
Underneath the obsessive order, the pretty
face and the fixed hair is the beautiful mess
her closest friends have come to know
and love, someone who will always fight
for those she loves. She always listens but
never burdens – a friend you can trust with
all your heart, a friend you can expect to
take (or most likely shoot) a bullet for you.
Abigail, BIG to those who know her best,
has definitely given her nickname an
entirely new meaning. You see her and you
think twice about calling her BIG due to
her perfectly lean physique and effortless
aura. Yet to her family, BIG means warmth
and a sense of belonging: a home offering
untiring love, support, and security. To her
friends, BIG means spontaneity and truth: a
fountainhead of laughter, camaraderie, and
honesty. To her studies and obligations,
BIG is quality and inspiration: a book of
ideas, written with careful thought and
precision. And to life in general, BIG means
passion and individualism: a spirit that lives
every second worthy of history. Indeed,

YANG YAYANIG NA SA WORLD COURT
The Hague – People from around the
world converged at the Peace Palace, seat
of the International Court of Justice, to
witness the swearing in of Filipina Rowena
Yang as President of the institution. As a
former Justice in the Philippine Supreme
Court, Ms. Yang is known for clarity of
her decisions. Her interest in the law was
fostered in the valley of Marikina, where
she was raised, and at the Ateneo, where
she was regarded as “the quietest girl
in class”, despite the objections of her
classmates. Ms. Yang is also well-known
for the perpetual smile on her face.
Regardless, Ms Yang, with her gigantic
assets, is sure to make a huge impact
around the globe.

“What was your first impression of Kristian?”
Perhaps, some would answer, saying “quiet,”
“shy,” “serious,” and “sort of intimidating.”
Still, others would say “flashy,” “showy,”
and “scary when pissed.” Well, these are all
actually true… BUT those who think that
this is all there is to him – the very same
people who insist on referring to him as
Kristian – obviously don’t know him too
well. Those who do know him, however,
would say that Yao has this intense passion

latest gadgets. They’d know Yao is outgoing,
friendly, fun, a downright goofball, and has
this unbelievably loud, infectious laugh
that can get anyone within a 2-mile radius
laughing as well. And for those that really do
know him, they’d say that Yao here, dreams
big and works hard – that’s why they’d all
probably agree that he has the makings of
becoming the next big business tycoon.
