In 2005, Baton Rouge hosted the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships and, after six months of competition and an influx of 65,000 bowlers over six months, the event left approximately $70 million here in our community. In February of 2012, USBC brings the Open Championships back to the Baton Rouge RiverCenter. The 2012 tournament is expected to draw 70,000 bowlers and bring an estimated $100 million of economic impact to the Baton Rouge area. USBC, bowling’s national governing body as recognized by the US Olympic Committee, is the largest athletic travel group in the world. It comprises over 3,000 local associations and the organization’s membership exceeds 2 million bowlers.
