`
President’s Perspective
Fall is upon us, and as the leaves begin to change there are also some changes at
the club. Effective October 12, 2013, I have become the President at Plum Brook
Country Club. After serving as the Vice President for the past two years, I look
forward to the opportunities and challenges before me as we enter our 100 th year
anniversary. Our focus for the next two years will be fiscal responsibility, continuous
improvement on the golf course, and providing the membership with an excellent
country club experience by creating a welcoming environment that provides a value
to the members.
The renovation project is well under way with the parking lot and front entrance
completed. Approximately 100 replacement windows are currently being installed
throughout the clubhouse. The interior decoration is being finalized for January
construction and pool improvements will be completed in April. Everything is
positioned for an on-time and on-budget completion.
The golf course will be undergoing a few improvements this fall. We are planning
to replace several sections of drainage tiles that were damaged and install a few new
sections, as well. We will also be removing some dead trees on the course and
attempt to clean the creek bed of any debris that may be restricting flow.
Finally, I would like to thank the membership, the Past Presidents, and the Board
of Directors for their trust, words of wisdom, and overall positive reception. It means
a lot to me.
Your board is always open to ideas and suggestions. Please feel free to contact me
at 419.541.0777 or [email protected].
Best regards,
Chris Price
Dear Members,
Fall has arrived!! The course is looking beautiful with the leaves turning and the
greens healing from the aerification. Hopefully, we still have a month or so of golfing
weather before the crazy stuff gets here. Greens fees for the rest of the season are $25
during the week and $35 on the weekends.
The Fall Golf Shop Sale and Bonfire is scheduled for Friday, November 8th from
6-9 pm. All merchandise will be discounted and this is a great time to use your shop
credit. There will be FREE beer and wine along with Chili, Hotdogs and Cornbread. We
hope you are able to join us for a fun night around the fire!!
All Golf Shop Credit must be used by the end of November. The inventory is good,
so don’t wait too long and miss out on finding your correct size.
I am asking all members to PLEASE return all demo clubs ASAP. There are numerous clubs missing and clubs that are not retuned will be charged to the members account. Thanks for your attention to this matter.
The course will open at 9:00 AM for the rest of the year. The Driving Range will be
open as long as the course is open. PLEASE try and stay off the grass at the Driving
Range. Mark has aerified and seeded the range and needs golfers to stay on the mats so
the seeding will take effect, especially on the back of the grass tee. Thanks for your cooperation.
In closing, I would like to thank all members for another great year and we look
forward to making 2014 even better. Enjoy the holidays and hope to see you and your
families at the club!!

Club Manager
Dear Members,
At Plum Brook our fiscal year ends on October 31st, looking ahead to that date I am
happy to report that as a whole the club survived a rainy and cool spring, a year where the
course was closed 7 days because of heavy rains and an economy that was shaky at best.
We will end the year strong and healthy.
On Friday October 18th we will be rolling out a new menu. This menu will continue to
offer heart healthy and gluten free choices. Look for items such as raspberry pecan brie,
crab and artichoke dip, sweet potato spring rolls, pork tacos, Thai chicken lettuce wraps and
Buffalo chicken flatbread just to name a few of the new items. The menu keeps your
favorites and hopes to create new hallmark items.
We will be open on Thanksgiving Day for a turkey buffet from 12 to 3; the buffet will be
$15.95 for adults and $8.95 for those under 10 years of age. Please call ahead for
reservations so we may plan accordingly.
Order your sweet rolls for the Thanksgiving weekend ahead of time so that we have
enough for everyone. Also we will provide you with any help that you may need to make
your Thanksgiving feast at home a tasty delight. We will have side dishes available for pick
up, as well as pumpkin, pecan and apple pies. It is crucial that you call ahead and reserve
your sweet rolls, side dishes and pies well in advance.
Ohio State and Michigan will play on Saturday November 30th, join us and watch the
game with your friends and enjoy a special menu.
Don’t forget that we offer happy hour on Thursday nights with discounts on selected
beers, wine and well drinks.
This December is shaping up to be very busy; the weekends of December 7 th and 14th are
already booked solid. The grill room will be closed on the 7th and 14th because of Member
Christmas parties, the lounge will be open those nights for dining.
I am looking for some help this holiday season. I will need banquet servers to assist in
serving and clearing of food. Also I will need help in setting up parties. If you have a
student home from college that could use some extra cash, or if you have a high school
student in the same boat maybe we can help. They must be 16 years or older. The fun starts
December 1st and goes through the 22cnd.
Finally last year we had a Sunday Brunch the weekend before Christmas, that featured
Santa Claus and the Firelands chorus. It was a huge success, we will do the same this year
on Sunday December 22cnd, Santa will be in front of the fireplace and the Firelands Chorus
will perform beginning at noon, please join us for a lovely Christmas tradition.
Thank You
Tom
