WELCOME TO THE
A NIGHT OF HOPE AND RESTORATION
O C T O B E R 7, 2 0 1 5
2301 BELLEVUE AVE., LOS ANGELES, CA 90026
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTORS
TOM MY
&
M AT T H E W B A R N E T T
Thank you for joining us this evening to celebrate The Dream Center’s 21st
Anniversary! Tonight, we express gratitude to God for the thousands of
lives that have been rescued, rebuilt, and restored. As we move into the
third decade of our journey, it is also a time to cast an ever-wider vision
to help even more people. It is our hope that you will be inspired by the
perseverence, courage, and determination of some very extraordinary
youth, men, and women.
For over 20 years, The Dream Center has been transforming the lives of
men, women, and children that the world has given up on. The Dream
Center’s mission is to reconnect isolated people to God and a community
of support by providing free human services that address immediate and
long-term needs. As we extend the love of God through practical services,
biblical instruction and personal encouragement, we are building up those
who have been beaten down by life.
Our annual gala plays an essential role in the financial support of these
impactful programs and services, and this tremendous evening would not
be possible without the generous support of individuals and companies
like yours. We are extremely grateful and honored by the generosity of
our supporters, volunteers, and guests each year who help to make this
evening a great success!
With your support, we can continue to make a real difference in the lives of
hurting people—burdened or broken by the circumstances of life—
at a time when no one else is willing to give them a second chance.
Our hope is that you would join with us now to help rescue, rebuild, and
restore more people like the ones you will meet tonight.
With thanks,

ABOUT US
Since our founding in 1994, The Dream
Center has become a national and
international model of community
transformation by creating programs
and services that meet the immediate
and basic emergency needs of the less
fortunate. As a rescue center focused
on finding solutions to homelessness,
hunger, and education through
community outreach programs, The
Dream Center serves nearly 85,000
people a month through our 29
programs and services.
Programs and services currently
offered include: residential recovery
programs for adults, transitional housing
for homeless families, foster care
intervention outreach, mobile hunger
relief, medical programs and a shelter
for victims of human trafficking.
OUR PROGRAMS
HOMELESS FAMILIES
Imagine losing your home because
you can no longer afford it.
The Dream Center Transitional
Family Housing Program rescues
homeless families and provides
support, services and personal
care to create a path for selfsufficiency and re-entry.
YOUTH
COMMUNITY CENTER
The Youth Community Center is
a sports outreach center with a
vision to provide a place for the
youth, young adults and families
of the community to gather in a
positive environment. Committed
and caring staff lead programs to
meet each youth’s health,
educational and social needs.
FOOD DISTRIBUTION
The Food Truck outreach feeds
over 40,000 people each month,
serving at 32 different sites in
some of the poorest areas in
Los Angeles.
The Hot Dog Cart Ministry serves
2,000 hot meals every week to the
homeless population of Skid Row
and surrounding areas.
The Dream Center hosts one
of the largest nonprofit food
banks in Los Angeles. Our team
processes over one million pounds
of donated food per month,
which is then distributed through
our feeding ministries and food
services at The Dream Center, in
addition to weekly food giveaways.
We also help 55 other agencies
and churches by providing food to
their hunger outreaches.
FOSTER CARE
INTERVENTION
In America, there are currently
500,000 children in foster care.
Some people assume every child
is taken away because of abuse
or addiction, but that is simply not
the case. Many of those children
were removed from their homes
because their parents could not
afford to properly care for them.
Our Foster Care Intervention
program provides furnishings,
diapers, food and other basic
necessities.
OUR PROGRAMS
RESIDENTIAL
REHABILITATION
AND RECOVERY
DC Discipleship is an intensive
one-year residential program
designed to help individuals
overcome life-controlling
problems including addictions,
abuse and anger.
MOBILE MEDICAL CLINIC
Making healthcare affordable
and accessible, City Help Mobile
Medical Clinic provides access to
free comprehensive medical care
and prescriptions to the uninsured.
EMANCIPATING
YOUTH HOME
Did you know that each year,
more than 4,000 young people
emancipate from foster care in
California? Additionally, more than
30% of California’s foster youth live
in Los Angeles County.
The Emancipating Youth Home
at The Dream Center is for youth
ages 18-24 who aged-out of the
foster care system and have
nowhere else to turn. This program
meets physical, educational and
spiritual needs of young adults in
danger of becoming homeless.
HUMAN TRAFFICKING
The program was established to
address the specific needs faced
by victims of the growing human
trafficking industry, which includes
forced labor, involuntary domestic
servitude and forced prostitution.
This program offers safe refuge,
legal services, medical services
and specialized counseling so that
survivors of human trafficking—in
all its forms—can overcome and
be restored from their individual
trauma and challenges.
EDUCATION
The Dream Center is working to
reduce poverty through education.
In The Dream Center’s Adult
Education Program, participants
are able to earn their GED and
increase their job and educational
opportunities. These classes are
provided to every one of our
program participants, plus those in
the community who want to earn
their GED.
The DC Academy is a private,
Christian school for at-risk teens
in grades 9-12. We provide a
quality, mastery-based education
that combines high academic and
moral standards, individualized
instruction and a biblical
worldview.
AUCTION ITEMS
TOGETHER, WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Over the past 21 years, The Dream Center has made its mission to
find and fill the needs of those in the Los Angeles community. What
began as a food and clothing outreach has now expanded into an
internationally known resource center that serves nearly 85,000
individuals and families each month. We do this by addressing the
needs of our three core pillars: poverty, addiction, and human trafficking.
By threading together our core pillars, we instill hope, inspire
transformation, and impact generations in the communities and
individuals we serve.
By giving access to medical care, food, clothing, financial counseling,
job readiness training, and skills to keep families off the streets, we
reconnect isolated people to a community of support and to God.
Tonight, with your support, we can rescue more families from poverty
and separation, help more men and women overcome life-controlling
issues and restore more victims of human trafficking.
