ecently, Holger Mohr took over the United
States operations for Custom Chrome Inc.
Holger had been successfully running the
CCI European operation for several years. One of
Holger’s first tasks was to show how relevant the CCI
parts catalog was and prove that a ground-up custom
motorcycle could be built using the vast resources
available in the catalog. Holger was not going to be
satisfied with a mild custom; he wanted to build a
show winner that would make people remember the
Custom Chrome name. Combining European and
American influences, Holger built a modern Chopper
with head turning looks in only four months, and rides
it daily.
The brown metal flake, silver metal flake, pinstripes,
and gold leaf inserts that comprise the paint and
graphics came from the creative minds of the Pfeil
crew in Austria. An up close inspection reveals the
flawless application of these materials.
Holger’s motor is a 2008 Total Performance
Engineering, show polished 121” monster. Feeding
the beast is a 45mm flat-slide Mikuni carburetor. A
Crane single fire ignition sparks the plugs on time,
every time. This TP motor cranks out 120 horsepower
which is more than enough to push this lightweight
Rigid machine right up to the speed limit and beyond.
A BDL two inch wide open primary belt drive and Ball
Bearing Lock-Up Clutch move the power to the rear
wheel by the use of RevTech secondary chain drive
components.
Holger had the West Coast Choppers Rigid frame
equipped with a West Eagle suspension saddle that
uses four-inch shocks to keep the rider isolated from
the bumps and jars of the road surface. The SJP Retro
Line front fork has been extended six inches using
CCI tubes. A RevTech “Eliminator” front wheel with a
Metzeler 120/70 21 tire mounted uses a blacked out
Wilwood four piston brake caliper and an 11.5 inch
rotor for stopping. The rear wheel is an 18 X 5.50
RevTech Eliminator, and it too uses a blacked out
Wilwood caliper for stopping. The rear tire is a 180/55
VR 18 Metzeler.
Fred Kodlin “Bonanza” handlebars look mighty spiffy
sitting on top of WCC four-inch risers. The grips came
all the way from Custom Chrome Europe, as did the
X-Wing LED taillight assembly. Footpegs and controls
are Rebuffini; the gas tank is from WCC/CCI and
goes by the name of “Villain.” Holger’s motorcycle
was constructed entirely by European specifications
using a TUV-approved CFL frame and a Euro 3 EP
motor. It is now ridden on American highways and
byways. If you like what you see, it’s all in the Custom
Chrome Catalog.
