competitiveness within the European food industry by implementing a training
network of excellence in food innovation and organizing National and European
food innovation competitions «The Student Food Innovation Awards» a real eyeopener for the food industry.
ECOTROPHELIA achieves the goal of bringing together students, teachers,
researchers and professionals of the food sector in a network to think about
tomorrow’s eco-innovative food products.

SIAL PARIS – 19th & 20th October 2014
This year 75 students from 16 different nations are competing in ECOTROPHELIA Europe, the student
competition for food innovation held on 19th and 20th October 2014 in Paris during the SIAL. The
ECOTROPHELIA contest answers a problem common to European countries: to effectively bring the worlds
of education and research closer to the food industry to imagine environmentally friendly and quality food
available to consumers.
With the support of the National Food Associations, businesses, teachers and researchers, laboratories
and technical centers, the future engineers have designed innovative food projects likely to be marketed.
The products presented at ECOTROPHELIA Europe are the winners of the national competition of each
participating country.
Since 2011 ECOTROPHELIA Europe has motivated the organization of more than 60 national competitions,
mobilized 550 universities and 3,000 European students and more than 40 food products presented in
ECOTROPHELIA have been industrialized and marketed.
