The Better Business Bureau offers the following advice :If a US Census worker knocks on the door, they will have a badge, a handheld device, a Census Bureau canvas bag and a confidentiality notice. Ask to see their identification and their badge before answering their questions. However, they advise that you should never invite anyone you don’t know into your home no matter how cold it may be. Census workers are currently only knocking on doors to verify address information. Do not give your Social Security Number, credit card or banking information to anyone, even if they claim they need it for the US Census. No matter what they ask you, you only need to tell them how many people live at your address. Eventually, census workers may contact you by telephone, US Mail or in person at home. However, the Census Bureau will not contact you by e-mail so be on the lookout for e-mail scams impersonating the census. Keep them; I pray Thee, dearest Lord. Keep them, for they are Thine. The priests whose lives burn out before Thy consecrated shrine. Keep them, for they are in the world, Though from the world apart. When earthly pleasures tempt, allure --Shelter them in Thy heart. Keep them and comfort them in hours of loneliness and pain, When all their life of sacrifice for souls seems but in vain. Keep them and remember, Lord, they have no one but Thee. Yet, they have only human hearts, With human frailty. Keep them as spotless as the Host, That daily they caress; Their every thought and word and deed, Deign, dearest Lord, to bless. By John J Cardinal Carberry Rev. Edward T. Please remember these priests by name in your prayers throughout the week, particularly during hours of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. This week we pray for the following priests serving the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Rev. Lawrence Duncklee Our Lady of Good Counsel -Inwood Rev. John Tutone Sacred Heart - Island Park Rev. Gerard Ringenback St. Bernard - Levittown Rev. Msgr. Donald Beckman St. Ignatius Martyr—Long Beach Rev. Christopher Nowak St. Mary of the Isle-Long Beach O Almighty, Eternal God, look upon the Face of your Son and for love of Him, who is the Eternal High Priest, have pity on your priests. Remember ,O most compassionate God, they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation which is in them by the imposition of the bishop’s hands. Keep them close to You, lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation. O Jesus, I pray for your faithful and fervent priests; for your unfaithful and tepid priests; for your priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for your tempted priests; for the lonely and desolate priests; for your young priests; for your dying priests; for the souls of your priests in purgatory. But above all, I commend to You the priests dearest to me, the priest who baptized me, the priests who have absolved me from my sins , the priests at whose Masses I have assisted and who have offered me Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion, the priests who have taught and instructed me or helped and encouraged me, and the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way. O Jesus, keep them all close to Your Heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen PLEASE SUPPORT THE ROSARY ALTAR SOCIETY AND ITS MINISTRY. I hope all our members of the Rosary Altar Society had a Blessed and Happy Easter! April 1 was the one year anniversary of Father Mapa’s Mass of Transferral. Father Mapa’s death on March 29, 2009 was unexpected and unfortunate. Although I am sure our Lord was there to comfort him at the moment of his death and to lead him safely home, he is missed by all. The anniversary of Father Mapa’s death should serve as a reminder to us that our Lord is there for all of us in good times and bad times, and in the ups and downs in life. However, we must treasure those whom the Lord has placed in our paths and caused us to enter into a relationship during our lives here on Earth. The Catholic Church teaches and has always taught that every human life is sacred and each person has a unique precious and gift from God. We were blessed to have Father Mapa as a priest in our Parish, although his stay at our Parish was too short. Let us say thank you to all the priests that continue to serve and counsel us. Please pray for Monsignor Martin, Father Chadwick, Father Raymond, Father McCartney, Father Racos and Father Kayser. OUR FASHION SHOW WILL BE HELD ON APRIL 27, 2010 at the Watermill Caterers. Persecution In Rm. 12:2 Paul says, “Do not conform yourself to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your minds, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.” Paul is giving Christians some practical guide lines on how to live lives that will be pleasing to God. He first says, don’t be conformed to this worlds’ way of living, for we are not of this world, but we are in the world to give light to the world. Paul goes on to say, that our minds must be transformed from day to day. This transforming is not a single event but a process which occurs over time As we conform our lives to the teachings of Christ, our minds are able to discern the will of God. Thus, we will begin to do things that are good, pleasing, and perfect in His eyes. The study of Scripture will help us to develop these and other guidelines so that our lives will be a shining light to a world in darkness. We are all called to become more like Christ by our words, by our actions, and by our good deeds. As we do so, Light will truly shine in this world, and this will bring glory, honor and worship to our heavenly Father. For Bible study info, please call Tony Albano at 586-4827, all are welcome.
