November 2015 Since July, 1995 Vol.20 Issue #11 Hoofbeats . . . . . News from the Clubhouse by Marty Clegg, Secy/Treas The regular monthly meeting of the Falls City Mustang Club was called to order by President Steve Merritt on 21 October 2015. Sec/Treasurer Marty Clegg gave an update of the club finances along with a copy of the treasurer’s report to everyone present. Frank Hayden, Early Model VP, spoke about current values of classic Mustangs as listed in Mustang publications. Prices appear to be going down slightly as older collectors seek to sell or thin their collection, thus making more cars available. Brenda Clegg, Membership Chairperson, announced new member Chad Zabenco who owns a 1990 LX convertible and welcomed back members Dan and Holly Watson who own a 1973 coupe. Present at the meeting was new member Fred Mildenburger who, along with his wife Debbie, own a 2012 GT convertible and a 1966 convertible that is currently a project car. Frank Hayden, MCA Regional Director, spoke about the upcoming MCA 40th Anniversary show in Indianapolis on September 1-4, 2016. Frank told about the available track time (for a fee) and free parade laps on the track on Sunday, the final day. Track laps will be on the road course, not on the historical Brickyard track. Past car shows attended by various members were the Rods and Wrenches car show at Brown County Park near Nashville, IN, the Scottsburg High School Baseball car show and trunk or treat, a show at Mt. Washington and Shepherdsville, KY. The FCMC also attended the Derby City Mustang Club ‘FordFest’ at Bill Collins Ford on Bardstown Road. Upcoming car shows and events are the Kyana Toys for Tots breakfast on October 24 at the Kyana clubhouse. There is a car show at the St. Matthews Kroger on October 24 and at Academy Sports in Louisville on October 25. On October 31, the Last Time out of the Garage car show is at Bass Pro in Clarksville and Buckets car show in Jeffersonville on Nov 7. The annual FCMC chili cook-off/supper will be November 14, hosted by Jenny and Paul Frisbee at their toy shed at B&J Trucking; start time is 4pm. Details of most of these show/events can be found on the FCMC web calendar. Bill Grant spoke about a car show at Hendricks Motorsports facility in Charlotte, NC on November 21. Bill was hoping to encourage other members to attend with him. The annual FCMC Christmas party will be on Dec 12 at Tuckers in New Albany. Invitations (with the announced theme) will be mailed soon to all members. Steve told everyone that he has not heard from Ralph Hines regarding the date for shopping with the kids as part of the Cops for Kids program. In regard to donations, Pat Gibson noted that $250 of the first quarter $500 was donated to We Care at WMPI radio in Scottsburg. A suggestion was made to move the remaining first quarter $250 to the holiday donation budget which would raise it to $750; members voted to approve this. Dining prior to the November meeting will be determined later. Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Immediately after the monthly meeting, the Board of Directors met to discuss several items. Steve spoke about his conversations with Jon Hunt regarding ideas and possibilities for the June pony trail. The board also discussed the large attendance at the DCMC FordFest and how the FCMC could capitalize on some of the attendance crowd for the June 2016 car show at Jim O’Neal Ford. Ideas on how to expand on advertising the June show were discussed. Expanding membership was the next point of discussion. One idea was to place membership applications in the waiting room at Jim O’Neal Ford (assuming they would allow it). Another idea was to reinstate the idea used a number of years ago to ask Jim O’Neal Ford to give a new membership to the buyer of any new Mustang from their dealership. The final topic was the need to ‘refresh’ the design of the trophies for the June show; several ideas were kicked around prior to the adjournment of the meeting. www.fallscitymustangclub.com Inside this issue: Members Special Events ……………...…...2 Officers/Staff/ MCA Judges………………….. 2 Harvest Homecoming Parade……….….............2 Rods & Wrenches Car Show..............................3 Backyard Classics “Trunk or Treat” Cruise-In…..………..…...4 Derby City Mustang Club Annual Ford Show……..5 Scottsburg Warrior Wheels Car Show with Trunk or Treat……….…6 November Events…..…7 Pumpkin Pecan Bundt Cake with Spiced Carmel Icing………………….…..7 NEW MEETING LOCATION Padgett, Inc., 901 E. 4th Street, New Albany, IN Wednesday, November 18, 7:00 p.m. Dinner at 5:30 p.m. TBA New Albany If anyone goes to a car show and takes pictures, please send to Brenda or myself.
