News from the Clubhouse by Marty Clegg, Secy/Treas The regular monthly meeting of the Falls City Mustang Club was called to order by President Steve Merritt on 15 July 2015. Sec/Treasurer Marty Clegg gave an update of the club finances along with the closeout of the annual charitable donations. The FCMC donated a total of $5250 this past budget year. Frank Hayden, Early Model VP, spoke about the history of the GT package on Mustangs starting with the 65-66 models. 1969 was the last year for a GT package until it returned in 1982. The most notable feature of the 2005 GT package was the large grill mounted fog lights. Brenda Clegg, Membership Chairperson, introduced new member James McGuirk who owns a ’06 GT convertible. Frank Hayden, MCA Regional Director, spoke about various MCA facts along with info that the MCA Grand National Show in Columbus, Ohio on Labor Day weekend is sold out. Steve asked how many regional charter clubs are in the MCA; Frank will look up this info for a future meeting. Therese’ Hayden, Wellness Committee, spoke of the cards sent to members including Paul Frisbee and Edna Sullivan. Cars shows recently attended by FCMC members were the Queen City Mustangers pony trail and car show, Backyard Classics car show and the New Washington Wrestling Boosters car show. The club had a very good turnout for Steve and Nancy’s cookout on 3 July and then again for the annual Sportsdrome Speedway outing on July 11. A couple of upcoming FCMC outings are the breakfast and poker run at the Clegg household hosted by Marty and Brenda and Steve and Nancy. Phil and Rose Ann Schieber will host a cookout at their house on August 15. A few upcoming car shows to mention are the Remax car show on Veterans Parkway on July 18, the Hoosier Mustang open car show in Columbus, In on August 8, the Indy Mustang Club show on August 22, and a car show at the Sportsdrome Speedway on September 13 benefiting the Dream Factory. The annual Vevay, In car show is September 19. In regard to the new year donation budget, members decided to retain the $2000 ($500 quarterly) as in the past. Members can request charitable donations to Pat Gibson or Jenny Frisbee. Bill Grant related a conversation he had with a member of a local Camaro club regarding the fairness and professionalism of judging conducted by FCMC members at the Huber’s Cops for Kids car show back in June. At this point in the meeting, the election of officers took place. On the vacant Executive VP position, Bonnie Cook was nominated, the nomination seconded and members voted her to the position. All other officer positions were motioned to be retained; members voted as such. Steve discussed his views of the Car Show Chairman position. He felt the annual car show has been, and should continue to be conducted by the members, with different members carrying out various aspects of the show. Dining prior to the August meeting will be at the Bob Evans on State Street in New Albany. Steve passed out to members some 2015 June show dash plaques left from the show. Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Also, with no business to conduct, no Board of Directors meeting took place. www.fallscitymustangclub.com Inside this issue: Members Special Events ……………...…...2 Officers/Staff/ MCA Judges………………….. 2 Ray Skillman Auto Show…………….............2 FCMC Cookout.....……..3 Barney’s Auto Fest..……………….…….4 Mustang Street Machine Show……………………..4 Sportsdrome Outing……………….……5 Remax Car Show…….…5 Breakfast/Poker Run……………….….…6-7 August Events..…...……7 NEW MEETING LOCATION Padgett, Inc., 901 E. 4th Street, New Albany, IN Wednesday, August 19, 7:00 p.m. Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Bob Evans St. Street New Albany If anyone goes to a car show and takes pictures, please send to Brenda or myself.
