It’s at the end of the eighties, and the hedonist Ernst, whom everyone calls “Goalie,”
returns to the small town of Schummertal after spending one year in prison. This is
where he grew up; everyone here knows him. Goalie wants a new start, this time a
life without drugs. He looks for a job and falls in love with Regula, a waitress. It
doesn’t matter to him that his best friend Ueli thinks he has become bourgeois.
Strong-willed, somewhat naive and with a great deal of charm, he wants to get his
life back on the right track. But just as his life is about to take a lucky turn, his past
catches up with him.

It is April 1974 and Julie Dujonc-Renens, young feminist journalist and the cunning
Joseph-Marie Cauvin, leading reporter for the Swiss radio, have been sent to Portugal to investigate Switzerland’s aid to poor countries. Sparks fly during the bus trip
with Bob, sound engineer approaching retirement. The projects financed by Switzerland prove to be calamitous and the workers’ revolution that suddenly breaks out
doesn’t help, obliging our heroes to disregard first the radio’s management, and
then their own codes of conduct.

The story of Switzerland’s most controversial political leader. It also chronicles the face-toface encounter between a filmmaker and a man of power, through a year of exclusive, upclose interviews and access to his private life. How did an impoverished pastor's son became a successful businessman with a colossal fortune, and one of the most powerful men
in Switzerland? A political parable and reflection on a country, the film traces the portrait of
a man who has radically transformed politics in Switzerland, Moreover, the film captures the
mood of a period when, all over crisis-stricken Europe, nationalism is on the rise.

The film traces a reencounter years later between the director and his parents – and is an
attempt at a personal revision of the past. In the process, a new view of the parents
emerged, an image which also provides again and again insight into a bygone era. The
narrative of their marriage, however, borders on a classic drama and leaves us feeling forlorn and miserable even today.

around us. In such a way, in 2011 Marie-Elsa Sgualdo discovered the work of
Spanish director José-Luis Guerin, creating in her the desire to contact him. “I
thought about sending him a letter in the form of auto-fiction to try to express
what had moved me in his films. (…) I undertook to breathe life into what I would
call rumours, without obliging myself to always tell the truth.” (Marie-Elsa

Richard Köchli: Born in 1962 in Basel. Has worked for 24 years as a professional guitarist on stage and in the studio. He has made a name for himself as
an author of successful books for guitar in Germany and in the USA. Although
his album “laid-back” (2008) won him acclaim as a sensitive, multilingual singersongwriter, his true talent remains the slide guitar, for his famous bottleneck is
also the perfect link to Blues: his book “Masters of Blues Guitar” was honoured
with the German Music Edition Prize Best Edition 2011; he won the Swiss Blues
Award 2013 for his two CDs “Howlin' with the bad boys” and “Still howlin' – live.”
Born in 1974 in Zurich. 1989-2001 Singer, guitarist and songwriter for the Zurich
rock band Crank. 2002-2008 Goes solo and devotes himself to rock music in the
spirit of the 1960/70s. While his album “Pool” made the Swiss hit parade, his
singles “Echo” and “Don’t Look Back” advanced to the Airplay hits. He continues
to work actively as the sideman and producer in a diverse number of projects.
Since 2012 works with his brother Luke in The Weyers rock duo. The debut
album was released in autumn 2013.
