The approach has been to create a family of buildings that responds to the varying context of the site rather than a single building entity has strongly influenced the direction of the building form and character. The street edges are clearly defined, forming a large central courtyard for residents. Taking advantage of the anomaly in the alignment of Corniche Drive with the site, the south elevation is provided with an inflection to mark the event, and provides a considered break in the street edge elevation. Project Name Client Contract Sum Project Overview Jane Foss Russell Building, Sydney Australia University of Sydney $79m This project comprised the construction of a new central administration building for the University of Sydney on their Camperdown & Darlington Campus City Road and Maze Crescent. The eight-level Jane Foss Russell Building (formerly known as the Central Administration Building) includes an extensive library, generic office and administration areas, various retail tenancies and public areas featuring a large open mezzanine terrace which connects to the new footbridge and is now one of the central public areas on the Campus. The most striking element of the building is the multi-hued, glass facades which vary in style on each side of the building. The green tinted plaza façade, with its colourful array of glass panels, was inspired by the canopy of heritage fig trees across City Road. In 2009 the project was awarded a High Commendation Award by the Australian Institute of Building.
