deliverability. As a result, we have added a Global Content
Delivery Network (CDN) to our service offering and tested the CDN
on one of our most loyal customers, King Kamehameha’s Kona
Beach Hotel.
King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel is a stylish, newly
renovated property located in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The hotel sits
on Kona’s only white sand beach and has a beachfront pool and
hot tub. King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel offers an on-site
full-service spa, convenience store, shops, two dining options and
a shuttle to Kona International Airport.
They’ve genuinely thought of everything so guests are able to
enjoy an exceptionally convenient, carefree stay.
This hotel experiences significant website traffic due to the
452 available guest rooms and nearly 20,000 square feet of total
indoor and outdoor meeting space. The Vizergy hosted website,
www.konabeachhotel.com, was moved to Vizergy’s CDN.

WHAT EXACTLY IS A CDN AND WHAT DOES IT DO?
A CDN is basically a network of geographically dispersed servers
that provide alternative pathways for users to download resources. A
majority of a site’s load time is spent retrieving static content of a
website, such as images, text, files and structural components. These
servers are spread all over the world and ensure faster load time due
to being geographically close to users.
When a user is loading a site, the server closest in proximity to that
user will deliver the static content, ensuring the shortest distance for
data to travel, therefore providing the fastest site experience. CDNs
are typically used as a solution for websites looking to improve speed.

CDNs are important because site load times
matter to search engines, especially Google.
Google has indicated site speed as one of the
signals used by its algorithm to rank websites
in search results.
In addition to load times being important to
Google, it’s also extremely important to users
and their experience. Slow loading pages have
lower conversion rates and also affect how
users perceive brands while online. Just as
increased site performance can yield positive
ROI, decreased site performance has the
