Brain Health and Lessons We Can Learn from the Life of Esther
The seminar will cover brain development, neuro-endocrinology, nutrition,
and other lifestyle factors that promote spiritual health and wellness of
women and their families.
Crystal has a Ph.D., as well as a master’s and bachelor’s degree in nutrition and a minor in
molecular biology. She is currently the program director for the newest academic degree offered
by Southern Adventist University: the associate degree in vegetarian culinary arts. Before
coming to Southern in 2012, she taught at LaSierra University and Loma Linda University. She
studies brain health and wellness both from a biblical and scientific perspective. Her philosophy
is to make the brain so healthy it cannot harbor disease. She specializes in depression, nutrient
imbalances, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, ADD, and vegetarian issues.

MESSAGE OF MERCY
Message of Mercy was formed in 1998 when a group of five friends and family found they
shared a common love for singing Christian music. What started out as a fun pastime doing
occasional performances, quickly evolved into an active, traveling music ministry heard around
the world. God’s Message continues through this ministry of music and personal testimony.
They feel blessed to be celebrating their “sweet 16” this year!

REFLECTIONS OF MERCY
Reflections of Mercy is comprised of teenage girls Cienna
Neal, Jaime Henderson, Shelby Huse, and Bethany and Josie
Woodruff. The girls have a personal connection to Message
of Mercy, as their moms are either past or current members.
These young ladies love Jesus and are happy to share their
talents for Him. They break into lovely harmonies and sing
almost constantly when they are together. There is also quite a bit of giggling. Their sweet
smiles and kind hearts show through when they sing, making their performances very touching.

BLANKETS FOR OUR SOLDIERS
Our God in Shoes emphasis for this weekend will be for us
to make 200 fleece blankets for our brave young men and
women soldiers who have been wounded. These blankets
will be a gift of warmth and comfort as they recover from the physical and emotional scars
of war. You can make a difference by helping us make these blankets. Location: Maple
(adjoining the dining room).
OFFERING
The monies collected during the retreat will help support the God in Shoes Ministry. Last
year, we were able to organize a two-week mission trip to the Pine Ridge Reservation in
South Dakota, a large one-day God in Shoes outreach in Charleston, S.C., and outreaches
in nine churches in the Georgia-Cumberland Conference. Your generosity is making a
difference in the lives of others! If you have brought a pair of shes to donate, please bring
them with you to the Sabbath morning service.
