CITV “ Christmas Share A Story” Competition 2014: Terms & Conditions
1.
APPLICATION PROCESS

Competition opens on Monday 1 September 2014. Competition closes for entry at 5.00 p.m.

2.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Entrants must be aged between 5 and 12 years old at the time of the competition close date
and must obtain prior parental permission before entering the competition. Please note
parental or guardian consent must be obtained and consent from any other adults including
without limitation teachers will not be accepted.
Entrants must be residents of the United Kingdom, Isle of Man or Channel Islands and must
not be employees or members of their immediate families of companies within the ITV group
of companies and/or agencies or companies associated with this promotion.
Proof of age and eligibility will be required.
Entries created by groups of individuals, including without limitation school groups or other
organisations, will be invalid and will not be entered into the competition.
3.
METHOD OF ENTRY
Eligible entrants should go to the website at www.textsanta.co.uk and download a competition
form as instructed. The form should be printed and completed by hand then returned by post
to CITV Christmas Share A Story Competition, PO Box 570, Manchester, M5 0FE. There is
no other method of entry other than that specified in these terms and conditions.
There is no charge for entry except that entries must be submitted with the correct postage
paid. There is no charge for downloading the entry form but internet service providers’ fees
may apply when accessing the internet.
Only one (1) entry per person is permitted. In the event that any entrant submits more than
one (1) entry, only the first entry will be considered.
Entries will be judged based on criteria including but not limited to inclusion of a Christmas
theme, Santa character and the theme of sharing / giving, entrants’ originality, creativity, how
engaging the idea is and that the idea could work well as a one minute animation.
The Promoter bears no responsibility for any entry which is incorrectly submitted, lost or
received after the closing date, or damaged in anyway.
The Promoter recommends that entrants keep copies of their entries as entries will not be
returned to the entrants.
4.
SHORTLIST
All submissions will be assessed by a panel of judges consisting of animators and industry
experts, including an independent judge (the “shortlist panel”). The shortlist panel will

decide on a shortlist of up to 20 candidates on or after 13 October 2014 (the “shortlisted
candidates”).
5.
WINNER SELECTION
The shortlisted candidates will then be judged by a panel of judges different to the shortlist
panel, consisting of animators, industry experts and a Text Santa representative, including an

independent judge (the “panel”). The panel will select one (1) winner on or after 20 October

2014 and the winner will be contacted from 21 October 2014.
In the event that the panel ties in its decision, the independent judge will have the final
decision.
6.
PRIZE
The prize will be for the winner to have their story adapted and turned into a 1 minute
film/animation and it will be shown on ITV and CITV Channels, CITV website
(www.itv.com/citv) and www.textsanta.co.uk.
7.
GRANT OF RIGHTS
By making an entry you grant the Promoter permission to use the entry in any way it wants in
any media in whole or in part. This means that the Promoter can use, edit, reproduce, record,
modify, translate, distribute, play, perform, broadcast, publish, make available and display
your entry (or part thereof) and/or prepare derivative works of the entry by any medium or
method whether now known or later developed, including without limitation on television
channels and online in its sole discretion anywhere in the world. The Promoter may also
permit third parties to use the entry. You acknowledge that you will not receive any fee or
royalty payment from the Promoter or any third party for the consents and grants given by you
in relation to your entry and/or any resulting animation.
You confirm and agree that your entry is all your own work and you are fully authorised and
entitled to grant the permission set out above. You agree to give us evidence of this authority
and entitlement if requested by us. You agree to waive any moral rights that may exist in
relation to your entry. This means that you waive the right to complain about the way in which
the Promoter (or its authorised third parties) may edit, alter or use the entry and that they do
not have to identify you.
You agree that your entry will not contain any material which in any way infringes the rights of
a third party or which infringes applicable laws or which is defamatory, obscene, harmful,
offensive, threatening, abusive or hateful. Such entries may be deemed inappropriate and not
considered.
You agree that if you are selected as the winner you agree to transfer all the rights in your
entry and any resulting animation and that the Promoter will wholly own the rights in any
animation created based on the entry and you will enter into any agreement required by the
Promoter to enable the Promoter to own the entry and the animation. Failure to enter into any
agreement as required by the Promoter will result in disqualification (without further liability to
the entrant) and the Promoter may offer the prize to the runner-up.
8.
GENERAL
The entrant’s parent or legal guardian may be required to provide their signature to confirm
the entrant’s agreement to the terms set out in these terms and conditions and to license
and/or assign any rights which may be required by the Promoter.
The Promoter does not guarantee, represent, undertake or warrant that they will contact
every entrant. Unless otherwise specified, the Promoter is not liable to refund any costs or
expenses incurred in entering the competition including but not limited to internet access fees,
postage costs, incidental costs, charges, fees, expenses and taxes.
