About Kids Without Borders
• KWB is an all-volunteer
international non-governmental
organization
• Non-profit Organization
Founded in 2001 by Son Michael
Pham, a refugee of the Vietnam
War. His inspiration to found KWB
was the kindness and generosity
he received by his community
when he moved to the US.
What KWB does
• KWB’s mission is to “inspire and involve youth in service
worldwide.”
• 70% of their programs and projects are based in the US.
• Assists people in over 30 countries
• Over 90% of KWB’s international programs are in Vietnam
CPP Project: Teach Me To Fish
Situation: In Vietnam, orphans leave the care of the orphanage at
the age of eighteen.
The Focus: An exit plan for life after the orphanage.
Reality: Many would end up living in poverty, becoming victim of
crime, being trafficked, forced marriage, …
Opportunity: Provide these orphans with better chance to become
healthy, functional, and productive adults.
Continued Growth: Adults who were orphans return to the
program to continue assisting those in need!
Teach Me to Fish
Safety Net: During their final 2 years of high school, young
orphans are provided with help for school studies and preparation
for their future
Primary Scholarship: provides up to 2 years of support for
candidates who are not qualified for college. Scholarship will
cover expenses for vocational/technical training, related costs,
and living expenses.
Secondary Scholarship: provides up to 4 years of support for
candidates to attend college. Scholarship will cover books,
tuition, supplies,room/board, health insurance, etc.
Teach Me to Fish
Alumni Program: each participant of the Teach Me To Fish
program can become a role model to current or future
scholarship recipients. Creates a Big Brother, Big Sister
program to provide support and guidance.
Emergency Shelter: There is an emergency shelter/boarding
home for adult orphans under the care of the program
who are having difficulties.
Micro-lending Program: available to alumni who are in good
standing, they can apply for a small no-interest loan for
the use of starting a family/personal business
