Seven Tips
1. Know if you have CMP prescriptive requirements on your 30
hours of continuing ed over the two year reporting period
2. Understand the 8 way paths you can earn CEU
3. Record what category your CEU credit is classified
4. Understand what subcategory your CEU credit is
5. Know info and tools for tracking / documentation to enter your
CEU into GBCI for your CMP; audit risks; approval time
6. Know Content Type – General or LEED Specific (limited to
EP designated or LEED Project Participation)
7. Intent of CMP is a Flexible Method of Learning.

Prescriptive Credential Maintenance
•Prescriptive is Required only of LEED APs who enroll through from Option 2, i.e. without retest and ONLY during their first 2‐year reporting period
Afterwards, there are no restrictions on types of categories.
•You cannot select LEED Homes or LEED ND without testing
But you can convert from NC to ID+C or O&M without retesting
•If you Take the Retest under Option 1, prescriptive does not apply. Only the 30 hours of CEU applies

•Above shows 24 prescriptive hours in categories you must do in the first 2 years after upgrading

LEED-specific CE hours are earned by completing activities approved by GBCI or USGBC by addressing
one or more of the following topics:
LEED process
LEED credit and/or categories, such as requirements, intents, or
version comparisons
Indepth, technical LEED updates
Indepth LEED project case studies targeting individual credit
achievement
Best practice lessons entailing successful or unsuccessful LEED
implementation strategies
LEED-related benefits and/or incentives (ROI, post-occupancy
studies, grants, tax incentives, etc.)
Note: Authorship and LEED project experience do not require approval to count
toward LEED-specific CE hours. However Authorship is audited.

minutes), then ½ hour incremental credits for additional
30 minutes instruction.
• Max 5 Hours total for reporting period for attending
