A word from the Pastor… - First Baptist Church of Toccoa >> First
A word from the Pastor…
It is wonderful to consider the ways in which God confirms that believers
are eternally related to Him as His children. First, the Holy Spirit of God
leads us. When we are being led by the Spirit of God, we have that inner
confirmation of adoption which Paul speaks of (“Those who are being led
by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”).
Second, Paul explains that we have access to God through the Holy Spirit.
This access to God allows us to cry out “Abba, Father!” This past Sunday
I stated that the modern English equivalent would be “Daddy or Papa.”
God has made it possible for His children to have an intimate, personal
relationship with Him.
Finally, Paul shares that the Holy Spirit provides inner assurance to our
divine adoption. In other words, the Holy Spirit bears witness with our
spirit that we are children of God. If you are a believer you are an adopted
child of God who has the Holy Spirit leading, providing access to God,
and giving inner assurance to your divine adoption. Rejoice in knowing
you are a child of God!
This Sunday is going to be a big day. We will experience the ordinance of
baptism in the 11:00 service. We will also recognize and honor Marilyn
Moseley for forty-five years of faithful service. In the evening service we
will ordain Andrew Ivester into the Gospel Ministry. The service will be
held in the sanctuary at 6:30.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.
David

I hope everyone is continuing to have a wonderful summer! Let me
remind you of a couple of things. First of all VBS is coming up very
quickly, and I need as much youth help as possible. There are several
things going on that I will need your help with so please let me know as
soon as possible if you can help! Also, the Kentucky mission trip is just
around the corner, and we will have another meeting on Sunday, June
28, at 4:30. If you are going on the mission trip, it is very important to
be at this meeting.
This Friday we will be going to Gravitopia! If you would like to go, we
will be leaving the church at 9:00 and return around 2:00. The cost for
this trip is $15 and that will include lunch. Finally, I want to encourage
everyone to come and be a part of Fusion on Sunday nights. This summer we will be discussing and learning about the Great Commission and
how to share our faith. I hope everyone has a wonderful week, and I
look forward to seeing you all soon!

Have you ever felt really small? Perhaps it was a trip to the
aquarium as you watched the whales and schools of fish. Maybe it was a visit to a large city, where you were enveloped by
masses of people as skyscrapers towered above you. Or perhaps when lying on a blanket in a grassy field, gazing at the
stars, you began to ponder the vastness of creation. Yet, small
as we are, we are beloved by a caring God who knows the very
number of our hairs. How else can we respond, but to lift up
hallelujahs to the Creator?
