June - Emerald Coast Regional Mustang Club
Volume 20 Number 6 June 2009 MUSTANG MANIA Official Newsletter of the Emerald Coast Regional Mustang Club Welcome the New Editor WOW what a turn out for the elections this year. We even had a write -in ballot for Club President, but she only took one vote……sorry Holly, I guess your conquests will have to wait (Hail Hector!). Most everybody will know the active members that were elected, but let me introduce myself as your new Mania Editor. My name is Vincent Cimino; most call me Vinnie so that will do. I’m a USAF retiree. I was medically retired after losing my right leg to cancer in 2002. Yes, I have been to the Sand Box and have a few T-shirts to prove it! I drive a 2007 GT/CS… my second “Stang”. My first was a 2003 GT, but a drunk driver thought it would be cool to park his Yukon Denali on top of me. As the new editor I plan on some small changes at first to our monthly rag. I’m going to try an “editorial section”. We can spout off about things we would like to see happen with the club, or just talk trash about things. For example, I love the new 2010 GT, but hate what they did to the rear end. It’s like they ran out of money and said screw it… just pinch it in!! I’m going to try and get the calendar leaned more to letting members know what’s out there instead of loaded down with birthdays. Oh don’t worry, I plan on a Birthday page to say our best wishes. If your wives or husbands send me incriminating photo’s, I’ll publish those next to your birthday just to have a laugh. I would like to see our members send me stories about their Stangs and the funny things that have happened with them. So if anybody has any suggestions for the Mania or things to write about please send them to me. Ciao!! Page 1 of 10 Volume 20 Number 6 June 2009 The Emerald Coast Regional Mustang Club P.O. I went on a road trip to Ohio to visit family. But those of us that stayed here in Sunny Florida, got a chance to do lots of fun stuff. One of the things I missed that I would love to go to was the Ranger Camp show. Ya things that go boom and blow up are right up my alley!! I would have loved to shoot some guns off and play John Wayne again. If anybody went and took some pictures of the fun and games be sure to always remember to send me those shots. If I can I will add them to the Mania. Sticking to my plan on having an open forum or editorial page in the mania, I have one big question that I would love to hear back on. “What does the “Core” of our club have to do to get more of you out there to show up for meetings, functions & cruises??” I’m not pointing fingers or trying to upset anybody, I want suggestions. How can we make our club better and get more people to show up and have some fun with? Write back and let everyone know what you’re thinking. I’m one of those goofy guys that like things old fashion and modern at the same time. Take for instance: I have a friend (hush Kara) that is going to be stationed in Korea later this year. How about custom embroidered club satin jackets?? hats?? patches?? We could get it all made while he is there. I just need some feedback from you all, so come on… let’s get active and have some fun and support out club and show our colors. Hadji Shrine Show – The 16th Annual Hadji Shrine car show has been re-scheduled for July25th at Pensacola’s Nine Mile Road Hadji Temple. This venue is absolutely beautiful for a car show – a large shaded grassy knoll. For more information, call Bob McNeal at (850) 324-2778. Club Directory – There have been many inquiries into a directory of club members and supported businesses, services, etc., so – we will be publishing a directory of club member’s e-mail and phone numbers with pictures so we know who everyone is! If you do not want to be included in this directory, or have a special (family audience, remember) photo of your stang to share with the club, check in with Brian. Have a business or know of one that would like to be included? Ask about our club sponsorships and advertising. On a sad note “Steeda Dave” Godoy is PCSing to Cannon AFB, NM. Stay in touch while at the best base out west!!!(ya better you than me Dave….. Ciao!) Page 3 of 10 Volume 20 Number 6 June 2009 Don’t forget to show your ECRMC membership card @ Majic Muffler for a 10% discount. Remember to support our club’s sponsors. Stop by and thank them for their help in making ECRMC the greatest regional mustang club. Club Sponsorships – ECRMC is always looking for more local businesses to provide sponsorships. Any donations and/or discounts that can be provided are welcomed – know of a business that could use a little advertising in the Mania? How about word-of-mouth via the club members and our website? See Brian or Kara for details on ECRMC sponsorships. Page 4 of 10 Volume 20 Number 6 June 2009 Car of the Month Blumax is a 2007 “California Special” Vista Blue was offered for the first time that year on non GT 500’s. She was bought from Gary Smith Ford in February. Thanks Greek!!. She is bone stock except for the adaptive equipment used to drive her with my left foot and leg. I nearly washed the paint off her getting ready for the ECRMC annual car show, but I took a first place plaque so it was worth it. Like all go fast junkie’s I have lots of plans for her in the future for when I win the lottery. But for now I’m content to keep her stock. Ya and if you haven’t guessed it this is the NEW EDITORS MUSTANG, hey if you can’t abuse the power a little there is no fun in it then. I have loved Mustangs my whole life. My father is a retired Ford factory worker at the Cleveland Engine Plant! This is my second Mustang, but I have about 100 hot wheel and bigger models in my Man Cave at my house (just ask Brian), along with other Mustang memorabilia. Those that I have talked to know that I will always volunteer my time to help others work on their cars, just ask Steve. I wasn’t in the club 2 weeks and Steve and I were at the auto hobby shop on Eglin AFB ripping out his exhaust and shifter and putting in new very loud pipes!!! I’m sure that Steve’s neighbors love him at 0600 when he goes to work!! If you want your Stang or fast Ford in the mania in the coming months send me an email with a picture or two and a brief description of your ride. Ciao!! Fun with things that go BOOM, blow up or make loud noise!!! I can’t wait for the next open house at the Ranger Camp; I’ll have to talk Wright into going out and shooting his “14” as a warm up. I shot the Barrett .50cal over the Christmas Holiday with my Step-Dad and I would tell you all to try it but beware of the concussion!!!
