Emerald Coast Car Show
Fort Walton Beach High School – The annual Fort Walton High car show was
held on September 6. Despite starting the day with some rain showers, the weather
cleared for the show to give the Corvette and Model T clubs a hot and sunny day for a car
show. Panama City’s Bay Mustang club showed up in force to help us fill in the entire
center section of the show field with Mustangs. Credit goes to Steve Hoffman for finding
the open window leaking A/C from the school. His new found corner became quite the
“Cool Spot” for socializing. The most popular comment at the end of the day was the
need for a cool shower after baking, in some cases burning, while enjoying the show.

ECRMC News Updates
Just a few of the many Mustangs on display at the Emerald Coast Car Show. Check out
our website for more views from the show!
Show n Shine – Gary Smith Ford will once again be hosting a Show n Shine on September
20th. Free food to all attendees and look for a couple of games throughout the day for a chance to
win some prizes. After the show, we will cruise over to the Shalimar Sonic for even more food
and socializing. The Show n Shine will run from 10 to 3 and then we will re-assemble at the
Shalimar Sonic around 4 PM.
Food Drive - We are also preparing to hold a Show n shine food drive in early November, so
to get us started, bring canned food items with you to the Gary Smith Ford Show n Shine so we
can begin to stockpile food for the Manna food Bank. More information about the food drive will
be released as our plans get finalized. See Randy Brown for more information and to volunteer to
help out with the drive.

Bylaws Updates – All club members should have received a copy of the club’s bylaws with
last month’s Mania. See Brian if you have received not yet a copy. We will be discussing the
need for updated bylaws at our next meeting. Bring your ideas, suggestions, and questions to the
next meeting. By the way founding father Dave, having prepared notes but leaving them at home
doesn’t count!
Tashia Settlement – Former Treasurer Tashia Wilcher has settled with the ECRMC. She
re-imbursed the club for funds she mis-used and was placed on 18 months of probation. Those
involved with the whole affair are glad that it is finally over.
ECRMC Annual Show – Remember to mark your calendars for April 25, 2009 at Fort
Walton High School. A committee for the show has been formed and will be meeting at the Show
n Shine to plan for our 20th Anniversary celebration! If you want to get involved and help us put
the show together, see Kara or Brian at the Show n Shine. Join us as we prepare to put on our best
show yet!
Silver Springs Roundup – National Parts Depot has begun registrations for the Ocala
mega-show. See this Mania for a registration form. The first 1,000 registrations mailed in get in
to the show for FREE. This is a huge gathering of Mustangs and Fords in central Florida at the
Silver Springs Park. This is also the perfect show for families as there is a mini-zoo and huge
natural springs with boat tours on site. Best thing is, act quickly and it is free. We have reserved
20 rooms at the hotel right across the street from the park, so see Kara for details on reserving a
room.
Commando Cruise is coming – Northwest Florida’s biggest show is coming on October
25th at the Air Force Armament museum. Check for a registration in next month’s issue of the
Mania. This show always has a large field of Mustangs, all placed around the aircraft on display.
Navarre Beach car show – October 18th, the Navarre Board of Realtors returns to
Navarre High School for their annual show. ECRMC member and Mach 1 Detailing owner Jason
Stanley is on the show’s executive committee and promises to get the classes expanded to reflect
our usual high attendance. Check with Jason at the Show n Shine for more details.

Car of the Month
John William’s 1997 Cobra
John’s first foray into the world of Mustangs is a “slightly modified” 4-valve 4.6 liter Cobra that
has been dyno rated at 502 fwhp, 453 rwhp.
As anyone who has been around stock SN-95 Cobras knows, numbers like these won’t come
from a stock FoMoCo powerplant, so this Cobra has compiled quite a list of mods,
including: Vortech V1 supercharger with intercooler & ice box, Accel high output coil packs
sparking through MSD ignition wires, a Pro-M mass air meter, and Bassini x-pipe and cat back.
A Steeda 4 row radiator helps the Cobra keep its cool while slamming gears via a Pro-5.0 shifter.
With the straight-aways taken care of, handling balance benefits from relocating the Optima
battery into the trunk. Tokiko brand lluminas adjustible shocks equipped with Steeda 1” coil-over
springs and sub-frame connectors helped out by full sub frame connectors and poly-bushing
equipped lower rear control arms tighten the Cobra through the corners.
