To celebrate 35 years of activity by the Ingemar Group and 10 years of partnership with
the Fiera di Genova, which we supply the floating structures to for the International Boat
Show, we produced an easy-to-consult booklet in collaboration with Panama Editore
and Giornale della Vela summarising the excellent quality of Italy’s recreational yacht
facilities. This is a practical booklet full of useful and detailed information about the 240
most beautiful and well equipped marinas along the Italian coastline.

Pontoons and constructions over the water
35 years of Ingemar Group’s activity and 10 years’
partnership with the Genoa Boat Show: you are
invited to celebrate with us by “visiting” Italy’s
most beautiful marinas
A lot of water has passed under our floating
pontoons since we began operations 35 years
ago: for this year’s Genoa Boat Show, which
celebrates the 10th anniversary of our technical partnership with the organizers, we decided to offer to all our friends and supporters
this small publishing project, produced in collaboration with Panama Editore, which takes a
close look at our world.
Italy’s recreational yachting sector, following
the worrying fall in numbers over the last
few years, is gradually recovering thanks to
a series of investment programmes aimed at
expanding harbour moorings and updating
the quality of the services on offer to meet
the demands by the yachting public. On an international level the increase in the numbers
of marinas continues at a fast rate, mainly due
to the strong growth of yachting in emerging
countries and the enlargement and upgrading
of structures in the older and more traditional
locations. The astonishing rate of growth in the
mega yacht sector means adapting existing
marinas to meet their specific requirements
as well as creating new facilities, particularly
in the Mediterranean Sea and along the Caribbean and Middle East coastlines.
We owe special thanks to all those who have
shared with us the past 35 exciting years developing recreational yachting in our country
and who have contributed to the realisation
of our dreams allowing Ingemar to become a
Group proudly representing the professionalism expertise and quality of the Made in Italy
trademark throughout the world.

Ingemar installs floating pontoons in the desert!
Jeddah - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Growth continues in the basins of the new city on the
Arabic Gulf
La’ala Al-Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Sea City, 85km south of Kuwait
City, is an astonishing project in several stages begun in 2003
and occupying an area of over 64 km2 along the Arabic Gulf; with
a 25 year development plan a new city for in excess of 100,000
inhabitants will arise from nothing along more than 200km
of new coastline overlooking a series of canals and lagoons
excavated out of the desert.
The project, by the La’ala Al-Kuwait Real Estate Company, has
seen completion of the first 3 phases of infrastructures and
residential plots and includes the development of two new
marinas, the first of which is already close to completion, for
more than 1,200 berths.
In 2013, following a stringent international selection process,
Ingemar was appointed to manage the final design and supervise
on-site construction of the pontoons, fingers and floating
breakwaters, and the additional accessories and the anchorage
systems for the first marina. It was also appointed to supply all
specialist structures and walkways.
The “numbers” for the two basin projects are truly impressive:
17km of floating pontoons and fingers anchored by over 830
piles will provide moorings for over 1,200 yachts up to 40m
in length. Construction of the structures is under way and will
continue for a further two years.
Casting of the floating pontoons and breakwaters, 3-4m wide and
up 20m long and of the fingers up to 30x3m is working at full
pace and close to completion for the first marina. The elements
are of all-concrete continuous floating type with galvanised rebar
and have expanded polystyrene cores assuring flotation.
This is an extremely prestigious international assignment
rewarding Ingemar’s attention to the Middle East market and
their capacity to adapt to the specific requirements of each clientinvestor in the role of reliable technical partner and supplier.

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
A new series of landings for the Saudi Coastguard on the
coastline of the Red Sea and the Arabic Gulf are being
installed
Ingemar’s cooperation continues with the Saudi Ministry of the
Interior to renovate their Coast Guard bases and to create new
mooring locations along the country’s coastline. Following the
positive reactions of previous supply contracts, in part still being
installed, Ingemar has won another contract to supply and install
5 new landings, three on the coast of the Red Sea and two on
the Arabic Gulf.
The new landings are similar to the previous ones but with
different solutions relating to the characteristics of the systems
for installation which are designed according to the specific
site. A modular layout which can be progressively enlarged and
replicated at other sites, maximum structural resistance for use
in locations not perfectly sheltered, are again the common and
most important aspects of these landings.
The anchorage systems will differ in relation to the specific
features of each location: pilings fixed to the seabed, sliding
devices, vertical beams fixed to the piers and connecting rods
anchored to reinforced concrete blocks placed on the rock
revetment of the quay are all some of the alternative solutions
which are designed ad hoc for each installation.
The structures are built of the Heavy Duty type made of
aluminium alloy or, where wave conditions are rough, of
painted galvanised steel. The floating units are in concrete or
rotomoulded polyethylene according to the specific conditions
of each site. Each new landing will have moorings for 8 fast
patrol vessels.
The structures, designed for easy transport in containers, will
be constructed in Italy on the express instructions of the client:
this is yet another indication of the appreciation of Ingemar’s
‘Made in Italy’ quality and their capacity as designer and general
contractor within the difficult but promising Saudi market.
Al Faw - Iraq
A new hub for maritime traffic in the Arabic Gulf is under
construction
On the estuaries of the Tigris and Euphrates a gigantic port
complex is being constructed which will serve as a junction
for maritime traffic in the entire Arabic Gulf. Ingemar has been
appointed to supply a series of floating pontoons in reinforced
concrete of very high displacement to moor service and working
vessels. The modules are being produced at La’ala Al-Kuwait
Sabah Al-Ahmad Sea City in Kuwait and are designed and built
under the supervision of Ingemar in the same construction yard
Tivat, Montenegro
The “Monte Carlo of the Adriatic” expands - a popular
destination for the elite
Porto Montenegro, inaugurated in 2009, has seen gradual growth
each year in its mooring availabilities. At the beginning of 2014
the second part of works, Phase 2, was begun including new
structures on land and a radical enlargement of the marina
overlooking the spectacular Bay of Kotor, a Unesco World
Heritage site. The opening of the Regent Porto Montenegro Hotel
at the beginning of August coincided with the completion of the
installation of new floating pontoons. To the existing 250 berths,
from 12 - 150m, a further 185 have been added, 50 of which for
yachts of over 50m in length.
Ingemar continues to be a reliable partner for client-investors
and for this new extension has completed, on behalf of the
Montenegro firm Yu Briv (the main contractor for all works of
Phase 2), approximately 600m of new pontoons of 2.5, 3 and 4m
widths. Four long fingers at right angles to the external fixed pier
will allow the mooring of 97 mega yachts up to 25m long, while
the other pontoons parallel to the wharves will be for smaller
yachts, fuel stations and the marina’s service vessels. With this
final delivery Ingemar completes the supply of its extensive range
of products and technical solutions in the breath taking setting
of this amazing residential port development in Montenegro.
The marina is largely protected by floating breakwaters, the
yachts are moored to pontoons and jetties of different sizes and
functions, the piers are surrounded by floating and fixed madeto-measure structures and the berths have service stations,
firefighting terminals and pump-out systems.
Anchorage of the structures to the sea floor are also differentiated:
chains and deadweights, fixed pilings to the seabed and sliding
devices, vertical beams fixed to the quays. These are an
exhaustive testimony to Ingemar’s design versatility, flexibility
and diversification for their construction projects.
Al Faw - Iraq where the floating structures for the marinas of the new
macroscopic settlements are currently being built and which are
also designed with floating elements and Ingemar’s expertise.
The sections, with dimensions of 20x4x2m, weigh 65t, have an
a very high freeboard of 80cm to meet the specific requirements
of the vessels at their moorings and have a draft of 1.2m so as
to guarantee an efficient attenuation of the wave motion created
within the great port basin. The modules will be transported to
Iraq on special barges and anchored to the seabed by huge pilings.

The use of eco-friendly floating pontoons
and oversize breakwaters increases in Italy
The “challenge at sea” for the Ingemar Group continues: in 2014 they were key players in many enchanting Italian coastal sites.
Production at their factory in Casale sul Sile (Venice) proceeds at a fast pace with some of their most important commissions from
the north to the south of Italy.
Sistiana (Trieste)
Apartments, villas and a marina on the site of an old quarry
Work is nearly completed at Porto Piccolo, with an investment
of €250 million to redevelop the Bay of Sistiana, near Trieste,
and build a small village of 460 houses on the site of an old
limestone quarry, facing the sea and now transformed into a
modern marina with 120 berths for yachts from 8-32m.
Ingemar was appointed by Rizzani de Eccher, the main contractor,
to design, construct and install all the floating structures for the
marina and the relevant anchoring system: a custom-made
assignment.
The pontoons, with an overall surface area of approximately
1800 sqm, are 2.5/3m wide and are all supplied with fingers
for mooring yachts up to 32m. A large floating platform acts as a
main focal point of the marina giving access to the largest berths.
All the elements, with decks in exotic hardwood, have lengths,
form and variable features according to the complex layout and
the different requirements of the vessels. The structures are
anchored by 65 pilings drilled into the rock bed so as to guarantee
maximum safety and function of the floating systems. This is a
prestigious turnkey assignment for an important international
group, accomplished in only 4 months and in a climate of
enthusiasm and cooperation with all the other exponents of this
futuristic initiative.
Sistiana (TS) - Italy

has appointed Ingemar to design and execute the construction of
a floating walkway to cross the old moats and provide pedestrian
access from the town centre to this historic site. The new bridge
will be similar to the one installed by Ingemar in 1996 which
crossed the moats by the Fortezza Nuova (the New Stronghold):
this time however the opening of the bridge to allow boats to
pass across will be motorised and activated by remote control.
This openable pedestrian bridge will be 35m long and 2.6m
wide and the central section will retract telescopically leaving an
opening of 7.5m for the passage of boats. Approaching boats will
receive both acoustic and visual warnings at the canal entrance
and along the canal close to the bridge. This is yet another
example of Ingemar’s versatility in maritime engineering.

More berths thanks to floating breakwaters
The sailing hub VdV (Vento di Venezia) was created in 2003 and
has been crucial to the revival of the Isola della Certosa, one of
the most evocative places on the Lagoon and just a few stops by
vaporetto from Piazza San Marco.
Since then the number of berths has increased with the addition
of new moorings as well as service and hospitality facilities, and
also has a shipyard with boat storage.
This year important new works have been added: a barrier
with high displacement floating breakwater sections, 4m wide
by 20m length and weighing 70t, for protection against wave
motion, as well as a new series of pontoons with fingers all of
which makes the VdV hub a true floating boatyard on the island
overlooking Venice.
The work involved dredging the sea bed in some areas as well as
moving and modifying the mooring pontoon for the vaporettos
on the south side of the basin.
The new harbour layout, complete with all services and destined
principally for mooring mega yachts, has 11 new berths up to
35m in addition to the 300 existing berths of 10m to 35m.
This continues the collaboration between VdV and Ingemar, begun
in 2006, and is a superbly satisfying work experience with the
reward of seeing an abandoned area on the island transformed
over time into a modern and lively international sailing centre.
Savona
New floating pontoons for the Lega Navale
The Lega Navale di Savona boasts a long tradition of sporting
success and for years has been active in promoting sailing in
general but also sailing for the disabled. The premises, with access
for the disabled sponsored by the “The sea is for everyone” project,
and numerous boats equipped for people with special needs as
well as free sailing courses, is a feather in the cap for this dynamic
partnership which pays great attention to social issues.
Ingemar is particularly honoured to have contributed to the club’s
development by substituting all the old moorings: three new
fingers for floating pontoons have been in operation since the
spring of 2014 to moor the club members’ boats. This was an
important occasion for Ingemar to renew cooperation with the
Lega Navale Italian Naval League and with whom they share the
objectives of promoting a love for the sea as well as focusing
attention on social issues.

Amongst the many current improvements to renovate the
Fortezza Vecchia (the Old Stronghold), the Municipality of Livorno

Barion Sporting Club upgrades its moorings
The “Circolo Canottieri Barion Sporting Club” has completed an
important series of renovations to its historic clubhouse situated
on the city seafront: this includes the upgrade and enlargement
of the moorings for their members’ yachts.
Ingemar pontoons have been in operation there for more than
20 years but since then yacht sizes have increased considerably;
pontoons and services needed to be adapted to the latest
requirements and the more modern standards of health and
safety.
Ingemar’s long-standing collaboration with the Club has
generated an order to construct a new finger of pontoons of the
King-Size series, 75cm high above water and 3m wide, placed
at 90 degrees to the pier. At the seaward end a large floating
dock, 4m wide, will lie at a right angle defining the mooring
area and sheltering yachts of up to 25m. Because of local
maritime conditions, all the floating structures have generous
dimensions and are anchored to the seabed with pilings and
sliding devices.

Specialist state-of-the-art expertise, important investments in research and development and tens of miles of floating structures
all fully operational, are the hallmarks of this internationally appreciated Italian group.
From the Genoa Boat Show to the devotional floating bridge
for the Feast of the Redeemer in Venice, from the Marina del
Gargano in the south of Italy to Monte Carlo, from Port Gocek in
Turkey to Kieran in Kuwait or Aqaba in Jordan, if you walk over a
floating pontoon pay attention to the manufacturer’s label, it is
likely to be “by Ingemar”.
Founded in 1979 as a design company in the maritime
engineering field to plan and manufacture floating structures
destined to help develop tourist ports and harbours, Ingemar has
demonstrated from the outset their ability to study and solve all
the specific problems posed by these structures with a highly
technical approach.
After 35 years these distinctive qualities still constitute their main
winning strengths, placing Ingemar Group as the foremost Italian
company in the sector and one of the most highly qualified in
Europe.
Current production is much diversified and includes pontoons,
breakwaters and floating platforms for recreational yachts and at
the same time offers a complete range of accessories and all
the necessary equipment and services. The company’s range of
activities, outside the yachting sector, encompasses the design
and construction of specialist floating structures for use within
the leisure sector, as well as for industry and transport. Materials
employed in the production process range from aluminium to
specialist steels, from concrete to plastics, from eco-friendly
exotic hardwoods to the most recent composite and recycled
materials.
Research activity, carried out in collaboration with the most
important universities, is aimed at testing new solutions to
counter the problems of wave motion, at finding new systems of
anchorage to the seabed, at setting up new production processes
and even, when the necessity or opportunity arises, transferring
production technology for the elements abroad.
Today the Group employs 35 highly specialised staff in its factory
at Casale sul Sile, near Venice, with their Head and administrative
offices in Milan where it all began - “only” 35 years ago.
