Money Doesn’t Grow On Trees
But It Does Grow At UCCU
We tell our kids, “Money
doesn’t grow on trees.” So
where does it come from?
Teach your children about
money management,
loans and credit with
our Youth Services. With
help from UCCU, you can
plant the seed of smart savings:
First Time
Savings
Accounts
Designed for
members ages 17
and younger, this
account teaches
strong savings principles
for a lifetime of healthy
finances. Members will earn
quarterly dividends, so they can
learn about interest and how it pays to save.
First Time Checking Accounts
With the guidance and support of an adult co-signer, this account offers
greater financial freedom to our young members. First Time Checking
Accounts feature free online banking, e-statements, mobile money
service and debit cards.
First Time Auto Loans
This program makes financing that first car or truck easy and convenient. Members ages 16-22 can borrow up to 100% of their vehicle’s
value and enjoy flexible terms up to 60 months. No credit history is
required, and a loan officer will customize each loan to fit our young
members’ needs.
First Time Credit Cards
A UCCU Visa® Credit Card gives members ages 16-24 reasonable
credit limits, low interest rates, great purchasing power and convenient
account access. Parents or guardians co-sign these cards, so young
cardholders can learn about smart credit use from a trusted advisor.
Money may not magically grow from trees, but it can grow with the
Youth Services at UCCU. Visit www.uccumo.com to learn more, or stop
by the UCCU office near you to open a youth account today!
Be A
Credit Union
Super Saver
Since superheroes use their
powers to save others from harm
and take action to protect the
common good, it’s no surprise
that people around the country
admire them. Now, UCCU is
encouraging our young members
to recognize their own super
powers during National Credit
Union Youth Week, April 23
through 28.
This year's theme, "Be a Credit
Union Super Saver," focuses on
the ways young people can utilize
their own strengths as well as
credit union resources to meet
their goals. You can encourage
your child to participate by
helping him or her open a UCCU
youth account or make a savings
deposit. Bring your super saver
by the credit union, and help us
celebrate National Credit Union
Youth Week!
Can You Fill Your Tank & Your Wallet?
How Gas Rebate Cards Can Leave You Feeling Empty
With gas prices reaching record highs, the numbers at the pump might have you
considering a way around high fill-up costs. But before you sign up for a credit card
from your favorite gas station, make sure you’re driving away with a deal.
Many gas rebate cards do offer great discounts – sometimes as much as 5% on your
gasoline purchases. At that rate, you can fill up at $4.00 a gallon, pay $3.80 a gallon,
and save $3.00 for 15 gallons of gas. Those small savings can add up to more than $150
annually, but at what cost?
Interest rates on rebate cards tend to be higher than those on
standard credit cards – as high as 24.99% APR!* Plus, there is
often an annual fee and a limit to the rebate amount based on
purchases. For those consumers who carry a balance, the fees
and high interest rates quickly burn the rebate amounts until the
savings are reduced to fumes.
Decrease
Your Gas Costs
If you’re looking for a simple way to reduce your pain at the
pump, check out great low-interest cards like UCCU’s UChoose
Rewards Visa Credit Card. You’ll enjoy low, fixed rates and no
annual fee. Our cardholders also receive reward points for every
qualifying purchase, not just gas. Applying is quick and easy, so
contact UCCU today!

UCCU Honors Retiring Volunteers
Be A Part Of The
Credit Union Difference
The credit union would like to recognize two valuable members
who have devoted their time and talents to serving UCCU.
Volunteer leadership sets UCCU apart from
other financial institutions. Instead of answering to stockholders or corporate agendas, we
rely on our members to help us establish the
direction, programs and policies of the credit
union. Now, you have an opportunity to be a
part of the credit union difference!
United Consumers Credit Union is currently
accepting nominations for volunteer positions.
If you are interested in the opportunity to
serve the credit union and our members,
please contact us at (816) 325-6900. With
your help, UCCU will continue our history of
strength, service and financial success.
