Bydgoszcz
is a city with exceptionally rich, multicultural and very stormy history. Initially it was a wooden and
earthen settlement protecting the crossing over the Brda River; these days, it is a modern and fast growing city with
a population of about 360,000. Over the centuries, the city on the Brda had moments of great glory and fast growth (turn
of the 20th century), as well as decline (early 18th c.). The city, however, has always managed to rebuild after consecutive
destructions, utilizing its potential thanks to a convenient location at a crossing of land roads and waterways.

• location between two rivers that are part
of the international waterway E-70.
It is a connection with the national system of inland
roads through a hydrographic junction connecting
the Vistula with the Odra, which is also the central stop
on the Berlin – Kaliningrad waterway,
• four national roads running through the city
(No.: 5, 10, 25 and 80),
• railroad line connecting Silesia and Krakow with Gdynia,
which crosses in Bydgoszcz with the routes
Warsaw – Szczecin and Wrocław – Gdynia.
TRADE FAIR AND EXHIBITION CENTRE
Construction of new fairgrounds with office and conference facilities is underway in Bydgoszcz. The investment project
will first of all fulfil its exhibition and trade fair function, and – responding to the demand on the market – it will become
a centre of conferences and art-entertainment events of local, regional, national and international range. Considering
the trade history of the city so far, the centre will be located on 173-175 Gdańska Street in Bydgoszcz.
The size of the investment is substantial, which can be confirmed by the following information: built-up area approx.
13,637 sq. m, usable area 16,480 sq. m, including:
1) exhibition area – hall with usable area of approx. 10,910 sq. m and an entresol with an area of approx.
1,060 sq. m.
2) administrative-conference facilities with a usable area of approx. 4,508 sq. m (ground floor 2,313 sq. m,
second floor 2,195 sq. m) to service exhibitors and visitors.
Planned completion of the investment project is September 2015.

OPERA NOVA CONFERENCE CENTRE

The Opera Nova, situated in the city centre of Bydgoszcz in a picturesque
bend of the Brda River and the vicinity of the Mill Island, creates a clear
and recognizable architectural highlight of the city. This spacious building
makes possible organization of all types of conventions, conferences,
symposia and jubilee meetings. This modern and functional facility is able
to host events that can accommodate up to 1,500 guests.
The entire facility is air-conditioned, soundproofed, monitored and friendly
to the disabled. Its total usable area is 21,202 sq. m. The state-of-theart conference rooms, equipped in accordance with the latest multimedia
trends, guarantee to conference organizers flexibility and possibility of holding events with interesting scenarios. The Opera Nova is a perfect venue

Ignacy Jan Paderewski International Airport is located only 3.5 km south
of the city centre of Bydgoszcz. Convenient connection with the airport
is provided by the national road no. 25 and bus line no. 80, connecting
the airport with PKS bus station and PKP railway station. The timetable

The modern passenger terminal – built in 2004 – provides service to

Myślęcinek is Poland’s biggest municipal park, situated only

KART CIRCUIT
The “Racing Kamat” Kart Circuit is one of the longest indoor race tracks in the region. It has
500 metres in length, making it a very challenging track for karting amateurs. The “Racing

MILL ISLAND
Mill Island is the green heart of Bydgoszcz, an enclave in the city centre, perfect

EXPLOSEUM
Exploseum is a secret armaments factory operated by the Nazis during the last war.

MUSEUM OF WATERWORKS
It is Poland’s first Museum of Waterworks, located in two buildings in two different
parts of the city – the historical Pump Room near Las Gdański and the beautiful Water Tower, which offers a panoramic view of Bydgoszcz. The Museum teaches what
is water, why we cannot live without it, where it comes from, and how it gets to our
faucets.
A TRIP BY “OGÓREK” OR BIMBA
Go on a trip across Bydgoszcz by historical vehicles of public transport, including
a hundred-year-old Herbrand tram of the Red eNka dating from the 1960s or by
“Ogórek,” which is the immortal Jelcz 043 bus.
FOUNTAINS
Two fountains were unveiled in Bydgoszcz in 2014 – the reconstructed monumental
fountain-sculpture “Deluge” and the playing fountain near the Pomeranian Philharmonic. The first one depicts the dramatic scene from the Biblical Deluge and adorns
the square in the Kazimierz Wielki Park. It is the tallest fountain in Poland. The second fountain charms with its audio-visual effects – streams of water illuminated in
various colours “dance” in the rhythm of classical pieces.
