Is your company seeking a way to gain
some free exposure in the Jackson- Belden
Chamber? Each month, the newsletter
showcases a member who has been a
member for at least one year. The
company must have renewed its
membership for the 2014 year and may
not have been featured as a “member
focus” during 2013.
A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD • M ARCH 2014
Dear Chamber of Commerce Members,
How are you doing with your New Year’s Resolutions? We all spend time
making resolutions, telling ourselves we are going to be better. W e
resolve to lose weight, to get into shape, to become more involved with our
family, friends, and community.
Let’s resolve this year to make our Jackson-Belden Chamber and our business
community better by becoming more involved. It is really easy and ultimately
profitable to do this. Please attend our various networking and business after/
during hours events. Of course, you will want to attend the SUPERFANTASTIC
AultCare Quick Connect Luncheon at Glenmoor on a monthly basis. (Sorry, for
the shameless plug!) Consider joining one of our many volunteer committees.
Get involved more deeply with our various health, safety, and legislative initiatives.
But, I am not through yet. I want you to raise your left pinkie finger and repeat
after me: “I resolve to reach out and contact one Jackson-Belden Chamber of
Commerce member each week for the rest of the year.” Who should you
contact? Call a prospective customer or client! Call a prospective vendor or
service provider! Call on a new member and welcome them to our Chamber!
Call on a Board of Directors member! What should you talk about? Ask about
shared challenges! Ask about future business projections! Ask where they get
their customers, services, and supplies! Ask what their ideal customer looks
like! You get the idea.
Let’s resolve to make 2014 our best business year ever by helping each other
reach our collective goals because as we all know, a rising tide raises all boats!

focus on...Muggswigz
The original Muggswigz Coffee and Tea Co.
opened in April of 2003 and sits on a quaint corner
in the booming arts district of downtown Canton,
Ohio. Now the company that has earned several
industry awards, has another coffee and tea bar
location in Jackson on Fulton Drive, and operates
a growing wholesale business. Muggswigz roasts
all the coffee for both of its locations and its
wholesale clients right in the downtown coffee and
tea bar location. That means the beans
Muggswigz is brewing and selling are just hours to
days out of
the roaster. In fact, after ten days out of the roaster,
all retail coffee beans are discounted 50%!
The coffee selection ranges from four primary
blends to various single origin farm-specific coffees.
The primary blends consist of an ideal light roast—
the Fairfire Blend™
, an ideal medium roast; the
Bullseye Blend,™ an ideal dark roast; the Black
Gold Blend;™ and a blend called Spro™
, designed for espresso. For batch-brewed coffee Muggswigz uses a unique
brewing system that is a hybrid of French press and manual drip, and also offers single cup pours and French presses
to allow the guest to choose what characteristics to highlight about the coffee.
On top of roasting in-house, Muggswigz also does all the baking and syrup-making in-house, at both locations. The
baked goods include delicious pastries such as whole wheat fudge-like treats called Morsis, specialty breads, muffins,
fruit bars, and biscotti. Every syrup and sauce the company uses is made using natural ingredients to give them a
natural and multidimensional flavor. For example, for the chocolate syrup Muggswigz purchases raw cocoa beans
from the Dominican Republic, roasts them, and makes the chocolate syrup directly with the fresh roasted cacao beans.
Various seasonal syrups and sauces using fresh ingredients, some from local farms, also grace the menu from time to
time. In addition to the brewed coffees and single cups, Muggswigz offers a unique menu that showcases traditional
espresso bar classics, a menu of fifteen to thirty loose-leaf teas, a menu of signature coffee- and tea-based drinks,
and a menu of drinks like small-batch sodas and fruit smoothies.
At Muggswigz, tea receives equal billing. It provides a vast selection of teas ranging from directly imported farm-specific
lots to tea and herb blends. The company maintains relationships with tea farmers that enable them to offer the highest
quality unblended teas, fresh, and at a great value. All the teas are whole-leaf teas, which is the highest grade as far
as leaf particle size is concerned. Most of these selections can also be found on the retail shelves, along with many
tea-related supplies and equipment to help customers replicate their Muggswigz experience at home!
Muggswigz is also unique in the training aspect of the company. Each barista goes through intensive and continuous
training so that he or she never stops learning. They are happy to field any and all questions to help you understand
what is going into your drink.
With the new Jackson location conveniently located right on Fulton Drive in the Shakertown Plaza, regular guests no
longer have to trek downtown to fulfill their Muggswigz cravings. This location offers a bright and spacious interior along
with the same classic menu.
Muggswigz also provides wholesale coffee and tea sales and
services to offices, restaurants, cafés, and other business clients.
Learn more at www.muggswigz.com.
Muggswigz is a true gem to be found in Ohio. There is obviously
a lot of attention that goes into the details of each traditional and
specialty drink. But, as Alex, the owner who still roasts coffee,
blends teas, and acts as a barista at both locations, said, “I don't
feel the need to inundate all our guests with all the special little
details of our drinks; all I need our guests to know is: one, that
for them to get the full value from their drink they need to actively
imbibe and enjoy it; and two, how delicious it is for them. You can’t
drink a story or information pamphlet, the proof is in the cup.”

Accurate Door Systems, Inc. began in 1982 as
a garage door and gar age door opener ser vice
company. Founded by John P. Ebel, the company
started as a division of The Television Maintenance
and Appliance Company and The Canton
Automatic Door Company—both which were
owned by John’s father, George F Ebel. It soon
became apparent that f or continued growth the
company would need to operate independently,
and in the fall of 1982, John established Accurate
Door Systems as a sole propr ietorship located at
3742 Cleveland Avenue in Canton, Ohio. As a
separate company, Accurate Door flourished
and, in 1986, was incorporated into Accurate Door
Systems, Inc., with offices in both Canton and
Akron, Ohio.

Jackson-Belden Chamber of Commerce
members are encouraged to participate
in one of five Tip Club groups. These
groups meet weekly for either breakfast
or lunch. Participants form friendships
and a successful referral network.
The Tip Club program offers a no-cost
forum for Chamber members to build
the kind of relationships with other
members that will generate sales leads,
educate potential customers about
member businesses, and expand networking opportunities. It is anticipated
that Tip Club members will be the
referral to other members’ businesses.
People prefer to do business with
people they know.
Meetings are facilitated and follow a
structured format. Members are asked to
present a 30- to 60-second introduction,
talking about their products and services.
Business cards and literature may be
distributed. Tip Clubs provide a friendly
forum to practice sales pitches and try
new approaches and sales techniques.
THE RULES ARE SIMPLE:
Only one person per industry/
service is permitted in each group
with the exception of the Tuesday club.
When there is industry overlap, it is
broken down by services. Each person
is assigned a specific industry/service
that he or she is allowed to market.
Regular attendance is required. It
reinforces identity, networking, and
a commitment to grow Tip
Club businesses.
JOINING IS EASY:
Interested members should email Ashley
Winter at [email protected] to be
placed in a group with an opening for
their industry.
