Welcome/first day checklist for EMT Paramedic Courses

Congratulations! You are registered for the TEEX EMS Academy EMT Paramedic training program.
You will need the following for your class:
On the first day of class:
 Student Textbook
 Class Uniform Shirt — Class B
 Dark blue or dark black twill pants (like Dickies or Dockers)
 Black polishable boots with rubber soles (no cowboy boots)
 Belt
 Class T-Shirt (to be worn underneath Class B shirt)
 Blood pressure cuff
 Stethoscope
 Pocket mask with one-way valve
Within the first week:
 Valid Driver’s License
 High School Diploma or GED
 MMR (proof of two vaccinations at any time)
 Hepatitis B vaccination series
 TDAP (proof of vaccination within last 10 years)
 Varicella (chicken pox), proof of two vaccinations at any time or proof of disease
 Negative tuberculosis test within 6 months of class start date
 Current criminal history background check (for any place you have lived in the last 7 years)
 Current Health Care Provider CPR card (within six months of class start date) or equivalent
 Current proof of Medical Insurance
 Flu vaccination (seasonal)
You will be required to submit a drug screen at a later date.
You must have meningitis vaccination (10 days prior to the 1st day of class if under the age of 30, if vaccination is over
5 years must have booster).
You will be required to wear the uniforms every day of class, including the first day.
You must provide a copy of EMT-Basic certification.
Please note: Background checks are required for clinical and field rotations. Certification by the Texas Department of State Health
Services, or other certifying entity is independent of the EMS program and its training.
Please report to the EMS office in building 101 of the Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station, Texas no later than 15 minutes

Criminal History Search
If you have lived in Texas for the last seven years, go to TX Department of Public Safety Criminal History Search

Click on “Criminal History Conviction Search,” set up new account, search yourself and bring copy of first page with you to class.
If you live outside of Texas, you must go to your own state website and do the same as above.
