We have producers who purchase feed in and out of their regions and will continue to do so. We need you to remember that some growers are adding to their acreage and may be growing on land that is in transition. To ensure organic integrity, you should always get a certificate that says the feed was grown under organic management and meets organic standards. It is the buyer’s responsibility to verify certificates and get transaction certificates on purchased feed. In doing so, if it comes up later that there is a discrepancy in the origins of the feed that you as the buyer purchased in good faith, you would not be held responsible because you did your due diligence.
