Everyone loves beer….we decided to take you to the source ….. High fives all round, it’s special offer time….. End of summer…. but not in Malta Message from the editor Although large parts of Europe are preparing for cooler climates, we are lucky enough to still be basking in warm weather, which means we are still offering plenty of activities on our most important element – water. Therefore we thought you may like some ideas about rather luxurious forms of water transport. We are also happy to announce the re-‐branding of our national carrier, Air Malta. Other items covered in this issue include a polo course and having drinks served to your clients in quite a unique way. Talking of drinks, “Spotlight On” will be covering a tour to the source of our famous lager – Cisk. To conclude, we will also be exhibiting at this year’s edition of EIBTM that will be taking place in Barcelona between the 27th and 29th November. You will find us on the “Gondwana” stand number G850. If you do not have time to meet on the stand, we will be organizing a get together on the Tuesday evening with some food and drinks – feel free to contact us for more information. Oh, and last but certainly not least, check out our special offer…. 1 2 3 Wassup Traveltrade October 2012 What’s New? We have some planes painted in pretty colours, some guys trying to serve drinks while hanging from ropes, some people getting spoilt on large boats and some folks trying to hit balls whilst riding ponies. Air Malta recently announced the rebranding of the company, which will include a new livery on the fleet. All aircraft will be flying with the new vibrant artwork by end of March 2013. This latest development is yet another step towards the restructuring of the company in light of the ever increasing competition from low cost carriers. Incidentally, please feel free to contact us regarding any matters related to Air Malta – we will happily put you in touch with one of their MICE team members. We are also very excited to announce a new and very exciting incentive activity to add to our many other unique products: How about a “Polo” course? The clients 2 would visit Malta’s polo Club and enjoy an introduction to this sport of the nobility starting with theory, practicing striking the ball with the mallet, riding the horses and finally taking part in an actual game. Another fun way of spicing up your event in Malta would involve shooting up to the sister island of Gozo by speedboat. We would then take the clients for a short tour into some of the caves, when all of a sudden, they will notice our team dressed in tuxedo’s, abseiling down towards the boats. On closer inspection, the clients will observe that our team members will be carrying glasses and Champagne on trays, which following landing on the boats, will be a welcome refreshment and surprise. Within previous mailshots we have mentioned several different types of speedboats that can thrill and exhilarate your clients. If you prefer to take things up to another level, how about chartering one of our cabin cruisers for a day? We have vessels available in various sizes (up to 110 feet super yacht class) as well as varying budgets. You can really spice things up by serving lobster on board washed down with Champagne, cigars as a treat and masseurs to take those every day pains and stresses away. Regarding any of these items, feel free to contact us at any time for further information. 1 2 Wassup Traveltrade October 2012 Spotlight on… The Cisk Lager Brewery Tour By Steve Livingston Something that has not escaped our attention over the years is the fact that the popularity of our local lager “Cisk” is showing no signs of diminishing with our clients. It seems that Cisk is just made for our climate in the same way that Guinness is perfect for Ireland. We have decided to act on its popularity by now being in a position to offer you the possibility of visiting the brewery with your MICE groups. The group would make their way to the Farsons Brewery (built in 1950) and start with a brief visual presentation about the company. They would then make their way to the Old Boardroom followed by the Brew House where the beer is still brewed in original giant copper vessels dating back to the ‘50’s. From here, the group would then proceed to the Beer Process Block where yeast is kept and beer is fermented, matured, stabilized and filtered. The final 2 destinations would then be the Bottling Hall where the beer is bottled, canned or kegged and finally the bar, where obviously everyone will have the opportunity to taste this delightful tipple. This particular tour can be organized in its own right or alternatively as part of a “Discover the tastes of Malta” activity where other stops can be arranged giving the clients samples of all types of food, beers and wines produced in the Maltese Islands. 3 Wassup Traveltrade October 2012 Special Offer… The Grand Hotel Excelsior, Valletta Valid for groups from the 1st December 2012 until the 28th February 2013 DOUBLE ROOM FOR SINGLE USE: EURO 73.00 PER ROOM PER NIGHT ON BB DOUBLE ROOM FOR DOUBLE USE: EURO 98.00 PER ROOM PER NIGHT ON BB Notes: • The offer is valid for groups consisting of a minimum of 20 paying persons staying for a minimum of 2 nights • Subject to availability • Offer is valid for confirmations received prior to 15th November 2012 • Offer excludes 27th December 2012 to 2nd January 2013 • Rates are quoted in Euro and are inclusive of VAT and full buffet breakfast 4
