GENERAL INFORMATION
Gelbvieh Bull Futurity
The Breeder’s Choice Bull Futurity has been initiated by Gelbvieh breeders and supporters to increase participation in the National
Gelbvieh Show, the National Gelbvieh Sale, the National Gelbvieh Convention and to identify the most useful young sires in the Gelbvieh
breed. The sponsor of the annual Futurity will be the Breeder’s Choice Bull Futurity, Inc., a non-profit organization, not associated with
the American Gelbvieh Association.
The Futurity winners will be selected by scored balloting of the participating breeders members. Ballots must have a different bull in
1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions. Ballots must include all three positions.
The consignor of the Futurity winner shall receive approximately 80% of the net Futurity funds. Two runners-up will be identified to
receive approximately 10% respectively.
The Futurity winner will be sold as Lot 1 in the National Gelbvieh Sale. The net sale proceeds of the winning bull will be given to one
breeder/member who will be selected by a random drawing.
Each Futurity breeder member will receive 20 (twenty) units of semen from the winning bull.
The voting will be held at the National Western Stadium Arena on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 10:00 am. The top 3 vote winning
bulls in the initial voting will come back to the arena for a second voting to select and announce The Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull
Futurity Champion.
Futurity winner and drawing along with announcement of winner of Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull will be honored at Annual Gelbvieh
Banquet held in the Double Tree Hotel Saturday Night, January 10, 2015 at 6:15 pm.
The 2015 Futurity is limited to 53 breeder memberships. Three breeder memberships will be sold at public auction before the drawing
for the sale proceeds in the Double Tree Hotel. We will be selling the 2 of Clubs, 2 of Diamonds and 5 of Spades.
All bulls entered in the 2015 Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity have beenDNA tested with high density Genomic EPDs and are
tested free of the following genetic defects: AM; NH; CA; and DD. The winning Breeders’s Choice Futurity bull is AI qualified and all test
have been completed to meet the AGA requirements for AI sires.

Black Crown 626A has been a favorite since birth among many
at the farm. We absolutely love the way this bull is put together.
He has the look that should grab the attention of the futurity
members the minute he walks into the ring. He has all the
right parts in all the right places with a big hip, wide topped,
very large testicular development, clean fronted and a very eye
appealing look. His sire, Future Investment, our Jr. herd sire
is making his mark in the breed as a leader and his dam is a
leading young female sired by our Sr. herd sire, Granite 200P2,
will be going to the donor pen this year. She also produced the
second high selling herd sire in our bull sale last year, selling to
Rippe Gelbvieh in Nebraska. It is sometimes hard to compete
against young pretty spring born bulls with an older fall born
bull that has already got the bull look, but never the less we think
this bull is pretty neat and could be a breed changer. We would
certainly appreciate you taking a good look at Black Crown and
consider him when you vote.

Upswing is the kind of bull that can do what his name says, he
could put any program on the upswing. He is as complete a
purebred bull as there has been in a while. It is hard to pick a
hole in this dude everything just fits. He is built flawless from
the ground up offering a big foot and plenty of bone, while
being as bold sprung and deep as you can make one. When you
study him from behind, he comes with a lot of top and hip. He
is backed by a no-miss cow that offers some outcross genetic.
His sire is our up and coming herd sire, Blue’s Impact, who
combines Black Impact, Harley and the Velvet Moon cow. Blue’s
Impact is proving himself as he sired the 2013 reserve calf
champion in both the Balancer and Purebred shows in Louisville,
the champion Balancer at the 20l4 Eastern Regionals, and the
Reserve Champion Balancer at the 2014 junior nationals. We

At Dawson Creek, we value proven cow-families. In the case
of Businessman, his dam, DARC P401, better known around
the breed as “Darci”, has already written her fair share of breed
history. Her first calf, RTRT Solution, was a Breeder’s Choice
Futurity Champion. Darci also produced the 2010 Reserve
National Champion Gelbvieh Female. Perhaps a better example

We are proud to introduce PHG Bam Bam B98 as our entry
in this years bull futurity. Bam Bam is a calf that has been
turning heads since our open house in August, and has
gotten plenty of attention since then. His dam was imported
into the US from Valley Gelbvieh in Alberta as an open
heifer, and is a picture perfect example of a Gelbvieh female.
Their herd has been closed for many years - these females
being some of the only cattle to ever leave the ranch - and
as such her numbers don’t reflect the true potential of this
female. B98 is a prime example of the type of calves Yukon
is producing - deep middled, wide based, and stylish. With
an 85lb birthweight and a 799 weaning, PHG B98 is truly a
combination bull that gives you the best of performance and
calving ease - being homozygous black and polled is just
