KLEINBURG Fall 2013 Activities n e w s l e t t e r Be at There’s much to be discovered in Kleinburg…and what could be more enjoyable than finding the new home you’ve been dreaming of? For those looking to enjoy the joys of village living all year long, we suggest you also take a few minutes to tour the Impressions of Kleinburg Presentation Centre located at Highway 27 and Major Mackenzie Drive West. When the first phase of this fabulous new community was launched, it was an instant success with over 200 homes sold in the first few weeks. It’s no surprise that the community was so well-received, what with the developers and builders working hard on the street layout and architectural controls within the community to create a master plan community that everyone will be proud of. Now that construction has started on the first phase, Phase 2 has been released, with a fantastic new choice of lots. It includes a selection of luxurious freehold townhomes and semi’s priced from the upper $400s, and beautiful detached homes on 30’, 38’ and 44’ lots, priced from the upper $500s. The three builders at Impressions are all committed to building quality in the smallest detail but “the big picture” is important too. The master plan reflects a well thought-out community, where every streetscape flows naturally from one into another, and where new homes, parks and schools are all woven quite naturally into the fabric of life. A neighbourhood park and a new elementary school will be found in the very heart of the community. Walking and biking paths have been incorporated, along with a stormwater management pond and roundabouts to keep traffic flowing smoothly. Join the at the F E S T I V A L It’s not too early to circle your calendar and make plans to attend one of Kleinburg’s most famous and anticipated annual events. Kleinburg also boasts a number of other community events and attractions throughout the year, from its Canada Day Celebrations to “Christmas in the Village”. The Binder Twine Festival is held the first Saturday after Labour Day – a tradition that has been going on every year since 1967, when it was part of Canada’s Centennial celebrations. There’s the nocturnal celebration known as Kleinburg@Night. There is an Art Walk, a special weekend exhibition of local artist and their work, and the community’s giant Pumpkin Fest is a great prelude to whatever Halloween Celebrations you might have in mind. The tradition and inspiration actually dates back much further to the late 1800s when farmers would come to the Kleinburg community to acquire the twine they needed to bind sheaves of wheat. Back then a local resident by the name of Charlie Shaw offered food and entertainment to those farmers, in what eventually became a harvest festival for the whole community. Organized and operated entirely by volunteers, the success of the festival eventually led to the development of its own special venue, Binder Twine Park. For information on these events, visit the website hosted by the Kleinburg Business Improvement Association : From its craft sales and musical entertainment to its famous Quilt Raffle and Binder Twine Queen Contest, the festival is a lot like Kleinburg itself – heritage-inspired and proud of it! kleinburgvillage.com www.bindertwine.ca along MAIN STREET Welcoming many new businesses over the years, Kleinburg’s Main Street – Islington Avenue – has retained its Victorian heritage and flavor.
