The Virtue for the month of October at St. Anthony is GRATITUDE. Whenever we gather as a faith
community to worship, we offer thanks to GOD. The blessings we have of food, friends, family and
freedom are all gifts from our Creator GOD. As we prepare for the celebration of Thanksgiving, we are
urged to take some time to remember our blessings and give thanks.
Thank you to all the families that sent in names and pictures for our Terry Fox Bulletin Board. It was
covered with many of our family or friends that have been affected by Cancer. Thanks also for your
donations, this year we raised $486.60 for the Foundation.
Once again I encourage all our parents/guardians to become involved in supporting our school.
Our first Shark Park Playground meeting is October 5th @ 7:00pm. They are looking for parents help.
Also, the next School Council meeting is on Monday October 19th @ 7:00pm. We will be planning our
Winter Wonderland and many helpers are needed to plan and run this event. Please plan to get involved
this year.

ATTENDANCE

place card for persons with disabilities.
If you child will be absent or late from school please notify the office at
PICKING UP AND DROPPING OFF STUDENTS
SECURITY
Due to safety and congestion issues we are requesting that all Adults dropping off
and picking up students, please remain outside the exit doors or in the front foyer of
the school. If you are attending morning prayer in the gymnasium or volunteering in
the classroom, please make sure you are signed in at the front office.
It is very important that the school is aware of ALL individuals in the school.
Parents/Visitors/Volunteers are to report to the office upon arrival at the school.
Visitors, volunteers and parents, are to sign in and out, and MUST WEAR AN ID
BADGE during the duration of their stay.
MESSAGES
Classroom interruptions break the flow of the lesson being taught and is difficult for
Students to re-focus. We need your help ensuring your child is getting all the
support as possible. If you just dropping off an item, or leaving a message for your
child, please do so at the front office ONLY.
All messages need to arrive at the main office before lunch hour.
This way we can make sure that your child gets this message without being
disrupted from their class and ensuring they receive the message before the end of
the day. Only in cases of emergency will we call your child out of class.
Staff welcomes opportunities to meet and discuss your child’s program, but DO NOT
interrupt classes to speak to your child’s teacher. Please leave a message at the
office for the teacher to call and make an appointment.
STUDENTS ATTIRE
ALL students Preschool—Grade 8 are expected to be clean and tidy, both in person
and attire. Students are required to dress in a manner that is not too revealing.
Students dressed inappropriately will be asked to change or contact parents to
exchange the clothing items for something more appropriate. Headwear is NOT
permitted inside the school, unless it is for a special dress up day.
Please make sure that your child/children have weather
appropriate clothing with them everyday.
PREVENTING THE SPREAD OF ILLNESS’
Preventing the spread of illness in schools is critical to keeping everyone as healthy
as possible. Please do your part by keeping your child/children home when they
are unwell. It is important that we keep our school safe for everyone. You can help
by letting us know if your child is diagnosed with influenza, strep throat, chicken pox,
pertussis, measles, impetigo, fifths disease, hand foot & mouth or pneumonia.
Remember to call the school every day that your child will be absent. Make sure
the school has your current contact information in case your child was to become ill
or injured at school.
OUT OF SCHOOL CARE
LOOKING FOR A QUALITY PROGRAM TO CARE FOR YOUR CHILD?
Look no further! Boys & Girls Club of Drayton Valley offers quality programming in
our licensed Out of School Care program, run by caring and qualified staff. What will
your child do in our program? We have a wide range of activities, including centres,
stories, snack, outdoor play, games, crafts, dramatic play, cooking, and free time!
We have had great feedback from those already registered in the program. Often,
the kids don’t want to leave!
WORRIED ABOUT THE COST?
The cost is $310 per month (with the cost going down $50 for each additional child).
If you need to you can apply for full subsidy from the government (similar to how
you would for day care). Our staff work from 3-6pm with the children each school
day. And full day camps held on weekdays when there is no school (8am-5pm) are
included in this cost! (This excludes statutory holidays, of course.)
ONLY NEED CHILDCARE ON PD DAYS?
If you are only interested in the full day camps as mentioned above, have no fear!
You can register your child for a cost of $35 for a single day. We will start accepting
day camp registrations a week prior to the day. Just give us a call!

‘school points’ to go to either St. Anthony School. From this we can earn money
for our school to purchase any new equipment needed. Thank you for your help!
NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY
If your child has a library book that needs repairing, please do not do it
yourself. Have your child return it to the library and tell Mrs. Lord about it so that
she can repair it. She has special glue or tape for repairs. The library program
automatically generates emails for overdue library books even though it is only 1 day
late. This is only a reminder and your child does not get penalized for this, especially
on days that she is absent.
Mrs. Lord, will be doing the monthly Scholastic book orders. If you have more than
1 student, you can put both orders together and enclose only 1 cheque, made out to
"Scholastic Canada Ltd". Please make sure that your child's name is on the order
forms. Thank you so much for your support as this helps us to supplement our
library with free books.
Running Club have their feet quickly moving Mondays from 3:15—4:15 .
