MEET THE NVIDIA SHIELD TABLET
The age of mobile console gaming has reached a new level. Once a realm
dominated by Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, NVIDIA has now entered the
ring, thank to the introduction of their Shield, which was launched in 2013. It’s
been a year since then, and the graphics card company has now released a
second generation Shield, which is called the Shield Tablet.

retreat before things start to get hectic again. Whether if you’re traveling

Planning for a trip is a MUST as you need to know
the budget, where to stay, and what to see. Make a
list of spots you’d like to visit at your destination, and
ask your hotel’s concierge if visiting them is possible
with the time you have there. Going with the flow is
also an alternative, but doing so may leave you filling
unfulfilled at the end of the day.
TAKE A PHOTO OF IMPORTANT STUFF
Use your phone’s camera or a proper camera to
take photos of important addresses or numbers.
This lets you refer to them easily, without having to
look for pieces of paper that may have gotten lost

A holiday is meant to be a getaway from your daily
life. There’s no better time to experience something

Safely Navigating the World Wide Web
If you’re planning to go on a holiday, and would like to use the Internet to book your flight and
hotel room, you have to be extra careful! These days, phishing scams and cases of identity
theft have become rampant, so it’s best to stay on your toes when doing online transactions.
Here’s how:
KEEP YOUR BROWSER UP TO DATE
Most Internet browser updates are not just cosmetic.
They usually introduce new security measures to
prevent and perhaps fix previously known security
flaws. Making sure that you have the latest ensures
that you are at the safest.
The less information you share about yourself, the
better. Cyber criminals can sometimes use your
personal information against you.
SUITE UP!
Keep to famous and well known sites and you will be
less likely to be a victim. These sites tend to be well
maintained and protected.
Install an Internet Security suite, like that from
Kaspersky. These suites protect you from spam,
intrusions, phishing, and most types of threats
present on the Internet. It won’t protect you from
everything, but it is better than nothing.
LOOK FOR THE LOCK
DOUBLE CHECK THAT STATEMENT
STICK TO WHAT YOU KNOW
When attempting to perform an online transaction,
look for an icon of a lock on the address bar. If it’s
there, it means that the site has SSL (Secured Sockets
Layer), which means it’s safe. If it doesn’t, it means the
site is insecure and the transaction should be aborted.

Intel Launches the JOI 8
Meet Malaysia’s First Localbranded Tablet
arly in September, Intel Malaysia held a
roadshow in the concourse of Plaza Low
Yat. The highlight of this roadshow was the
launch of the JOI 8, Malaysia’s first locally made
tablet. The JOI 8 is powered by an Intel Atom
Quad-core processor Z3735E and runs Windows 8.1.
Apart from that, it has an 8-inch IPS display that has
a resolution of 1,280 x 800. The best part about the
JOI 8 is that it retails for only RM499.
The roadshow also was a platform for the
company to showcase a number of the latest partner
devices that are powered by Intel processors.
With so many devices on display, it was perfect
opportunity for the company to conduct its PC
Refresh campaign, where up to RM300 in rebate was
given when an eligible Intel-powered PC was tradedin for a new one.

s part of this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, Plaza Low
Yat hosted its inaugural Hari Raya Open House at Shikiya
Restaurant (LG Floor Plaza Low Yat) with 37 children from
Rumah Amal Baitul Kasih orphanage.
Not only did the children have the opportunity to savor some of
Shikiya’s Hari Raya specialties, they also enjoyed and participated in
exciting games and magic shows. Plaza Low Yat’s General Manager,
Michael Lee, also handed out Duit Raya and stationery to the children
present at the open house.

MSI Turns Up the Heat
Taiwanese Company Showcases its Latest
Gaming Notebooks
SI is no stranger when it comes to the production of
high-end gaming notebooks. The company recently held a
gaming fair here, where many of its latest and greatest
products were on sale. Among the list of notebooks were MSI’s GT70
Dominator Pro and the GS60 Ghost 3K Edition.
The gaming fair lasted for an entire week, where many exciting
and fun games were held. Of course, being a gaming fair, there
was a small Dota 2 tournament held there as well. This was a Solo
Championship, where the winners of the qualifying rounds moved on
to compete at the finals, which happened at a later date.

Lions Roam Plaza Low Yat!
Something for Everybody
n the spirit of 1 Malaysia, Plaza Low Yat and the Malaysia
Wushu, Lion & Dragon Federation held an Acrobatic Lion
dance competition and hosted a 1 Malaysia Cultural Dance
performance in conjunction with Merdeka Day and the Mid-Autumn
Festival at the Boulevard Strip of Plaza Low Yat.
During the event, 12 of the best lion dance troupes from Malaysia
and Indonesia competed to win the crown. The launch of the event
was attended by Director General, Tourism Malaysia, Dato’ Mirza
Mohammad Taiyab; Federal Hotels International Group Director,
Steven Chong; Plaza Low Yat Property Management & Operations
General Manager, Michael Lee; and Malaysia Wushu, Lion, & Dragon

and is held every weekend from 11am to 7.30pm at bbpark.
