LIETUVOS IR LENKIJOS JAUNIMO MAINU FONDAS II LICEUM OGÓLNOKSZTAŁCĄCE LUBARTÓW www.lo2lubartow.pl RASEINIU RAJONO ŠALTINIO VIDURINĔ MOKYKLA www.saltinis.raseiniai.lm.lt/index.php?psl=naujienos „With History Through Generations” 30.05.2009 – 06.06.2009 SUBJECT: Former and Present Links between Lithuania and Poland – on the trail of cross-cultural dialogue in time and space PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project participants will be twenty students aged 15-17 (10 students from each school, including 4 disabled students). The activities will be conducted using a simulation game: “Time and Space Travel – on the trail of cross-cultural dialogue”. The participants of the game will take up the roles of four time machine crews and will be visiting places in Vilnius that are connected with the shared history and culture of Lithuania and Poland. The students will have a field trip to Raseiniai and Trakai. The artistic activity reports from the trips will have a form of: “Logbooks of Time and Space Travel” made in four international groups. The reports will include a poster, presentation, painting, installation or sculpture (inspired by the Invocation by Adam Mickiewicz) and – for young citizens of the EU – a guide to Vilnius and a bikers map of Raseiniai. The project participants will also learn to recite the Invocation – the Poles in the Lithuanian language and the Lithuanians in the Polish language. The disabled students will coordinate the organization of the Tournament of Vintage Games for the local community. The summing up meeting will include the presentation of project reports, basketball ”Match of Friendship” and the tasting of national food – “Healthy Cuisine of the Two Nations”. During their eight-day stay in Lithuania, the students will take part in study visits and workshops that will present to them the way both countries functioned before and after joining EU structures. The students will create and distribute information enhancing mutual understanding and cultural cooperation. The participants will develop the basis for further school exchange schemes. The school exchange for students of II Liceum Ogólnokształcące from Lubartów and Saltinio Vidurine Mokykla from Raseiniai will be executed as part of the Polish Lithuanian Youth Exchange Fund. The Lithuanian partners will also help in overcoming the language barrier with the community (the project is executed in Lithuania and the working language of the project is English). All activities covered by the project will be implemented by both groups together. When carrying out the activities, the students will work together in mixed Polish-Lithuanian groups. For the 8 days of the project the students will always be together. At the end, the participants will plan their future cooperation. The project participants will learn how to work in international groups, to work for the local community and also to obtain information from older people about old games and national dishes and then they will present them for the local community. The following methods of work will be used in the project activities: workshops, presentations, simulation game, field trips, study visits. The six-day stay in Vilnius and the two-day trip to Raseiniai will cover four main program parts: activities with guests invited for that purpose (interactive lecture and workshops), consecutive parts of the simulation game whose objective is to create “Logbooks of Time and Space Travel”, activities promoting health and the culture of the two countries (games and workshops), joint artistic activities: art and literature workshops. All the methods and project activities are aimed at promoting the non-formal learning and development of the young. The project participants will meet with people involved in issues related to the EU and local government (in Vilnius – the University of Vilnius, the Presidential Palace, in Raseiniai – the Town Council). In this way, they will gain knowledge of joint activities of both countries within the European Union as well as work towards tolerance and understanding of diversity as they will learn about the rules governing cross-cultural dialogue. The students will broaden their minds concerning ethnic traditions, e.g. by meeting with a local folk artist and preparing dishes under the topic “Healthy Cuisine of the Two Nations”. In order to improve physical fitness, the project participants will prepare and carry out (also under the guidance of the disabled students) the tournament of vintage games and a basketball match of mixed teams. Before the projects starts, students from individual school will prepare draft concepts of the artistic works to be created during the student exchange (creation of films, presentations, installations, paintings, sculptures, maps – guidebooks). PROJECT EVALUATION: On the last day of the stay in Lithuania, students will evaluate and close the project. A survey will be conducted among project participants. Working together, the students will make evaluation posters and summarise the project. In their respective schools, the students will evaluate the project and make a final conference call using Internet connection. The students will organize a public exhibition of artistic works. Local newspapers and the schools’ websites will present articles promoting cross-cultural dialogue between Lithuania and Poland. The students’ knowledge and experience – provided in the form of “Logbooks of Time and Space Travel” – will be presented to schools and cultural institutions in their cities as an example of good practice. The effects of the students’ work will be published in local newspapers – photographs, a report on the project activities. The whole school community will be able to see the multimedia presentation, posters, artistic installation and the exhibition of photographs in school gallery. Effects of the project activities will be posted on the websites of the schools. The tourist folder (guide to Raseiniai and bikers map) will be distributed among students of other schools in the town and posted on the website of both partner schools. Marzę o romansie z Hendrix'em i Caravaggio. Fascynują mnie aborygeńskie abstrakcje malarskie i taneczne. W przyszłości osiedlę się w Stonehenge. They distractedly broke into my soul although they left place to language-european class in which I learn: sign language, Latin, Greek, German, Hebrew and dolphin's speak. I'm dreaming about romance with Hendrix and Caravaggio. I'm fascinated with aboriginal painting and dance abstractions. In the future I will settle in Stonehenge. Weronika Karpińska: Mam osiemnaście lat, od dziesięciu hoduję włosy (na głowie), szukając sensu życia. Chodzę do klasy językowo-europejskiej. Uczę się języków takich jak: migowy, łacina, greka, niemiecki i mowy delfinów. Moją pasją (oprócz włosów) jest indywidualne pływanie synchroniczne. Zdolności nadprzyrodzone: moonwalk, znajomość 97 chorałów gregoriańskich i „Dance Macabre”. I'm eighteen years old, since ten years I have grown my hair (on my head), looking for point of existence. W wolnym czasie robię wiele różnych rzeczy takich jak granie na gitarze, ASG (Air soft guns) i malowanie figurek. Oczywiście muzyka jest bardzo ważnym czynnikiem w moim życiu. Uwielbiam słuchać klasycznego metalu (Metallica, Iron Maiden itp.) i bluesa. Wiem, że nie jest to zbyt oczywista kombinacja. Moją drugą miłością, po muzyce i gitarze, są tropikalne zwierzęta. In my free time I do many different things such as playing guitar, ASG (Air soft guns) and painting miniatures. Of course music is very important factor of my life. I love listening classical metal music (Metallica, Iron Maiden etc.) and blues. I know that isn’t very obvious combination. My second love after music & guitar are tropical animals. Sightseeing in the old town in Vilnius (sights related to Polish-Lithuanian history). Working in groups, summarizing the knowledge of shared history of Poland and Lithuania – students create a multimedia presentation using the images and information gained during their walk around the city. Meeting with a Member of Parliament from Vilnius. Visit to the Parliament of Lithuania. Visit to the Presidential Palace Creating “A Guide to Vilnius for Young Europeans” – preparing a folder. Lecture by the guide about the links of the poet Adam Mickiewicz and Vilnius. Defining the Mickiewicz route. A walk on the trail of Mickiewicz memorabilia. Creating an image, installation or sculpture inspired by the Invocation from “Pan Tadeusz” by Adam Mickiewicz. Learning songs of Marek Grechuta based on texts by Adam Mickiewicz. Continuation of artistic activity inspired by the Invocation. The groups work on their own and visit places related to the work of Mickiewicz (e.g. Ausros Vartai, the Basilican monastery). Sketching these places. Learning songs of Marek Grechuta based on texts by Adam Mickiewicz. Learning the Invocation – Lithuanian students learn in the Polish language, Polish students learn in Lithuanian. Creating a report “Logbooks of Time and Space Travel” Trip to Rasieiniai, visiting the castle in Trakai (important for Lithuanian history). Sketching the second capital city of Lithuania. Raseiniai – a cycling tour around the town and the surrounding areas. Meeting with a local folk artist. Creating a tourist guide to Rasieiniai and its surroundings for young Europeans, and a bikers map. Meeting with a member of the town council. Meeting in a Lithuanian school. Tournament of old games and a basketball match in mixed groups. Working in groups, teams prepare a meal “Healthy cuisine of the two nations”. Preparation and presentation of results. Meeting with representatives of the town. Planning of future cooperation. Evaluation and closing of the project The aim of the project is the cooperation of young people Poland (II LO Lubartów) and Lithuania (Saltinio Vidurine Mokykla Raseiniai), learning about the history and culture common to both countries as well building up bonds of friendship during artistic and sport activities. Twenty students (ten from each school -including 4 disabled persons) are to take part. The activities will be run using simulation game method. The participants of the game”Time and space travel”on the inercultural dialogue trail will take up roles of four time machine crews and will be visiting places in Vilnus that are connected with the common history and culture of Lithania and Poland. The students will have a trip to Raseiniai and Trakai. The artistic activity reports from the trips will have a form of”Time travel logs” made in four international groups. The categories to be employed include -a poster, presentation, painting, or sculpture (inspired by Mickiewicz’s “Invocation”) and , for a young citizen of UE - a guide of Vilnus and a bikers map of Raseiniai. The students will also learn to recite "Invocation" - the Poles in Lithuanian and the Lithuanians in Polish. The handicapped youth will coordinate the organization of the Tournament of Vintage Games for the local community. The summing up meeting will include the presentation of project reports, basketball ”Match of Friendship” and the tasting of national food – “Healthy Cuisine of the Two Nations”. During their 8 day stay in Lithuania the youth will take part in study visits and workshops that will present them the way both countries functioned before and after joining EU structures.
