LOAVES AND FISHES X10 Brings to you The Heartland of Orange County Westminster Family November 2013 Fitness Day!! Santa Ana Convoy of Hope Event October 5, 2013 So many lives were touch this day! Last count was 1,900 served! Impacting our Community I’m sure everyone has something to be thankful for this year and in the month of November, we get a change to eat a once a year feast and celebrate with family to share all of our thanksgivings. Most of us anyways... Loves and Fishes x10 president, Robert Flournoy is at it again! Not wanting to see anyone go hungry is especially heartfelt during the holidays. What a testament to commitment! From bags of groceries to shoes for children, Convoy of Hope was able to accomplish its purpose… L & F x10 is partnering with Civic Center Barrio Housing Corporation for their very 1st collaborative effort food drive to feed over 200 families a Thanksgiving dinner! Robert Flournoy, President/CEO CCBHC’s desire to provide a holiday meal for their own tenants was stunted by this large task. CCBHC asked L & F x10 to assist and the dream is well on its way to become a reality. For more info: see upcoming events Big THANKS to everyone that contributed to our fundraising campaign! We raised close to $6,000! Although, this fundraiser is over, please do continue to consider your tax deductible donations. Please visit L & F x10’s website and donation page http://loavesandfishesx10.com/ways-to-donate-2/ Our Local Farmers The Kawamura family owned business, Even though to provide a day of basic needs and resources ~ One day of Hope! The Original Manassero Farms, Dan Manassero The Original Manassero Farms is closed for the season, crops are slowly germinating in that rich soil awaiting harvest in early 2014! Can’t wait! Volunteers young and old...Huge thanks COH for making it happen:) During this seedtime, Dan Manassero gets best use out of his space by leasing his lot. On the lot again this season is “The Enchanted Pumpkin Patch” with Diana Duncan, owner and Garry Shammah, manager. Both have been operating the best pumpkin patch in Irvine for 3 years in a row! Come on down and visit! They’ll also be having wonderful Christmas Trees very soon! Orange County Produce, L.L.C leases over 100 acres of working farmland at the Great Park in Irvine. In addition to A.G. Kawamura’s already busy schedule, he works collaboratively with one of The Great Park’s outreach programs. There is a designated field called the “VALOR” Field (Veteran’s Agricultural Learning - Opportunities and Resources) for vegetable crops that are harvested for local food banks. This lot is set up to provide veterans hands -on training for possible future employment in the farming industry while having a direct relationship to the farm and those receiving the produce. We think this is great asset to the commuA.G. Kawamura nity! Partnering Organizations Templo Calvario Church Santa Ana California Templo Calvario church is where Loaves and Fishes x10 president, Robert Flournoy calls home. There is some genuine compassion shared each and every time this church gives their time to a project that Loaves and Fishes x10 is doing. Not only is the love of Christ and their neighbors shown through the giving of their time. Support of one of its members speaks volumes to how this body functions as a unit. We all want to feel a sense of belonging in our community. A base to go to regain focus and strength. Our president is no different. We’re so glad for all of the support “TC” gives to its family:) What a wonderful group of individuals setting the standard in good values. Picture of the Month Back in Time I love this place! Before he could shave his face… Forget the Nintendo Kids young and old come out to help glean with Loaves and Fishes x10. In my experiences regardless of the person’s, age or affiliation, getting back to the basics touches something in each one of us. Man and his relationship with nature. With the advent of electronics, not only do we have total access, we in addition move at a pace that leaves us exhausted without any physical component. Let’s change that! Come on out, get your hands dirty and exert yourselves while supporting a wonderful cause:) Back in the day… hard work did not have an age limit We’ve come a long way, made great strides Again and always THANK YOU to all the wonderful volunteers for make such a big difference in the lives of those in our community!
