Curatorial Proposal
We are a brand new artists residency and we are in the very begining of our long future life. All of us are learning everyday and we have
realized that Pilot concept is more than a test.
Our proposal is to work on what is a PILOT in any discipline of art. Develop a work in which both the achievements and the errors are part
of the process of creating a work and constitute the final piece of art itself. Every piece should be small-scale, understanding small-scale as a
smaller size than the actual size of the final piece, having developed previously a work of trial-error until where the artist considers his work
as definitely finished.
The initial point of this investigation is from the perspective of the so-called New Experimentalism: a branch of the philosophy of natural
science, and from the work of Ian Hacking that redirected and broadened the traditional conception of experiment.
Only when we manipulate an entity we actually are able to prove its existence. The understanding and definition of an entity is not
necessarily static. This is the MAIN IDEA we propose to develop.

PILOT

pilot project
trial, run, test - the act of testing something.
A pilot program, also called a feasibility study or experimental trial, is a small-scale, short-term experiment that helps an organization learn
how a large-scale project might work in practice.
A good pilot program provides a platform for the organization to test logistics, prove value and reveal deficiencies before spending a
significant amount of time, energy or money on a large-scale project. Typically, a pilot program begins with a proposal that lists the
objectives of the pilot program and documents how the program will be carried out. The documentation should also provide a time-line for
the pilot and metrics for how success will be determined.
TRIAL AND ERROR
Trial and error is a fundamental method of solving problems. It is characterised by repeated, varied attempts which are continued until
success, or until the agent stops trying. It is an unsystematic method which does not employ insight, theory or organised methodology.
Trial and error is also a heuristic method of problem solving, repair, tuning, or obtaining knowledge.

La Postiza as a new independent centre is not able to offer grants for resident
artists at this moment. We can assist artists seeking grants in their country or
institution, by providing an invitation letter or preparing a detailed budget.
The cost of lodging includes a private or shared room in a house totally
equipped: kitchen, fridge, electricity, gas, water, living areas cleaning, service
of towels and sheets and studio.

Application Guidelines and Criteria
Send your applications to: [email protected]. Please include a short
description of the project you intend to work on during your stay at the
retreat, as well as a proposal of your involvement with or the activities in
the local community (if you are interested), a brief biographical note with
bibliographical information, cv, the number of persons that will be staying
with you, and detailed contact information.
Interested are asked to make applications previously.
Residency is not confirmed until payment (60%) is received.
Each application will be considered on individual basis and on its own merit.

Every programme will count on professional lecturers and paticipants who
will contribute to improve the quality of the topic investigation.

As a cultural activist association, we will develop a
conceptualisation of cultural activism reflecting the kinds
of actors involved in our city, nature and forms of creative
practices, political and social objectives pursued; and the

stop and rethink the professional perspective for a moment.
The main objective is to offer the opportunity to spend
some time in the simple recreation, research and renewal of
its sights. Get out of your everyday life can contribute a lot
when it is viewed from outside and it can redirect the artistic
practice.

The artist-in-residence programme aims to stimulate creativity
through interaction with the local environment, artists and
cultural institutions, and seeks to foster crosscultural relations
between participants and the local artistic community in

national artists.
Through a visiting programme, we also offer museum tours,
mediterranean food experiences, trips, traditions, new
perspective debates, etc.

present a substantial relationship with the local setting.
The residency program is complemented by regular
interventions from visiting professors (academics, artists,
curators, theoreticians, historians) in accordance with
the program’s concept , always from the critical thinking
