I simply didn’t want to destroy such a clean rig. With the swap of a few guns, I acquired a F-Toy chassis #78. It has had quite the history from what I was told, and found out on Pirate4x4. The plan from the beginning was to try to keep it as "low budget" as possible, if that is even possible. The drivetrain is a 22R on propane that will be turbocharged. I am going back to a G-Series 5 speed transmission, and dual cases, with stock 2.28 gears in the first case, and 4.7s in the rear. Also, I am planning on running a disconnect, although I have not purchased one yet. It will have an FJ80 front axle, and a Rock Assault Tacoma rear, both will house 4.88 gears, with either a Detroit/ARB combo, or Detroits front and rear. Chromoly shafts will help spin the 40x13.50R17 Goodyear MTRs on Allied Rock-A-Thon beadlocks. Cutting brakes will help maneuver the buggy through cones during competition. Once fabrication is completed it will be getting paint and possible vinyl wrapping in a red and black theme. This is my true first real project. Everything else I have owned throughout my life has been pretty much already modified or built. Although, I have modified them here and there, to give them a unique style that I like. I finally wanted something I could say I built, rather than bought; although buying is definitely a LOT cheaper than building. Once done, it should be a unique rig that I can call mine, and will hopefully go everywhere I want to go. The chassis has been cut up, stitched, and been "well used" throughout its life, but once done, it should be a sweet rig that I wont worry as much about banging against a rock, or even rolling over.
