BREAK - NETWORKING PAVILION “IT IN THE ‘AGE OF THE CUSTOMER’ - CIOS MUST LEAD TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGES OF THEIR IT DEPARTMENTS TO MAKE THEM FAST, FLEXIBLE, AND EFFECTIVE DRIVERS OF THE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES THAT ENABLE THEIR ORGANIZATIONS TO FOCUS ON THE CUSTOMER” Sponsored by: IPR International Moderated by: David McLaughlin, Executive Vice President, IPR International Panelists: Rod Ross, VP IT, Clemens Food Group Simon Samaha, MD, Physician leader in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Price Waterhouse Cooper Christopher Bouvier, Former CIO, KePro Simon Samaha Christopher Bouvier Discussion: Speed to market and technological differentiation are becoming increasingly important components in the creation of sustainable value. Unfortunately for many organizations, their existing infrastructure and organizational models aren’t built for speed or recognized differentiation, leaving their internal partners questioning IT’s value add. We will discuss the transformational efforts that some of the most successful CIOs are leading, examining the specific changes made and lessons learned. Today, as never before, the flexibility and agility of your IT solutions determine your competitive advantage. This panel will uncover precisely how some CIOs deliver that flexibility and agility. IPR’s Dave McLaughlin will lead a discussion examining the critical role of the right IT organizational model, roles, and skill sets. The value an organization derives from that mix can, and should, be an important driver in the ongoing success of a business. A stacked panel of technology leaders from across industries will tell the innovative ways they have taken control of their IT infrastructure and are shaping it to deliver the solutions that their customers demand. 4 10:15am - 11:15am Session 2 Independence South Sue Denchak DAY 1 Agenda for - Day 1: May 20th “IS SHAREPOINT YOUR DREAM COLLABORATIVE APP, OR YOUR COMPANY NIGHTMARE?” Sponsored by: VerisVisalign Moderated by: Sue Denchak, Senior Consultant & Practice Director, VerisVisalign Panelists: Pamela Paul, SVP, IT Infrastructure, The Jones Group Gurpreet Maini, Co-Founder, eConnectionSoft, Inc. Beverly Prohaska, VP, Global IT, West Pharmaceutical Services Thomas Lembck, CIO, ViroPharma Incorporated Pamela Paul Gurpreet Maini Beverly Prohaska Thomas Lembck Discussion: Almost every corporation now uses SharePoint. However, most are also not happy about the architecture and use (Misuse? Lack of use?) of their SharePoint environment. Years ago, someone in the organization put up a SharePoint site. Then someone else decided they needed one. Then another. The result, in most organizations, is a “cobbled together” set of individual SharePoint sites, which are at times duplicative, other times unused, and overall not effectively usable across the entire organization. This presentation will be a panel-style discussion about how some companies are turning their SharePoint nightmare into a dream application that is governed, used effectively and appropriately, searchable across the organization—in short, a true knowledge management environment. Session 3 Independence North Nabeel Nizar “KEEPING PACE WITH THE BUSINESS – MAKE IT AN ENABLER RATHER THAN A ROADBLOCK” Sponsored by: NetIQ Moderated by: Nabeel Nizar, Principal Strategist, NetIQ Panelists: Tom Crabb, Director of Product Management, NetIQ Daniel Srebnick, Executive Infosec Strategist, Technical Merits LLC Robert Kemp, Info. Security & Risk, Sheetz Peter Salvitti, Chief Technologist, Boston College Tom Crabb Daniel Srebnick Robert Kemp Peter Salvitti Discussion: Not too many years ago, IT was seen as innovative and helping to drive the business. Now, many organizations view IT as the “Department of NO” with processes and requirements that inhibit productivity and business agility. Business users want to take advantage of mobility, cloud, social networks and other technologies they use in their day to day lives outside of work and struggle to understand why things operate so differently in the office. Join us for a discussion around how you can leverage Identity and Access Management solutions to take advantage of mobile, cloud and social to strike the right balance between user convenience and acceptable business risk. PH. 503-821-7311 5 Agenda for 11:30am - 12:30pm Session 1 Freedom 3 Nigel Blower Day 1: May 20th “TRANSFORMING THE IT RELATIONSHIP WITH THE BUSINESS THROUGH SERVICE MANAGEMENT” Sponsored by: ServiceNow Moderated by: Nigel Blower, COO, InSource Technology Solutions Panelists: David Kaufman, CIO, Therakos John Heidelberger, Former VP & CIO, Guardian Life Insurance Kim A. Wismer, CIO, Ballard Spahr LLP Phil Bianco, CTO, The Bancorp David Kaufman John Heidelberger Kim A. Wismer Discussion: CIOs face a challenge of providing IT services to the business in a context where there is frequently a mismatch of expectations with business users. Additionally CIOs are pushed to make a direct contribution to business strategy and operations. This panel will explore the role of IT Service Management in setting clear expectations with the business, and how these services can transform the relationship between IT and the business by not only improving IT service levels, but by providing tools which enable general business services. Session 2 Independence South David Lingenfelter Session 3 Independence North Rick Clare 6 www.premiercio.com “PROTECTING CORPORATE DATA IN THE BYOD ERA” Sponsored by: FiberLink Presented by: David Lingenfelter, Security Officer, Fiberlink, an IBM company Discussion: Mobile devices have removed the boundaries between personal and business use of computing resources. Issues surrounding regulations, privacy, and policy require new approaches to establish the level of trust needed for a successful bring-your-owndevice program. Join us to discuss best practices which personnel can use to quickly protect corporate data and reduce risk, while adapting to this new model. “TOP 10 PROJECT DISCONNECTS BETWEEN YOU AND THE PROJECT TEAM” Sponsored by: ConsultUSA/PMCentersUSA Presented by: Rick Clare, Partner ConsultUSA & Practice Director PMCentersUSA Discussion: Using David Letterman’s Top Ten List format, this presentation will review the 10 most commonly observed miscommunications, misunderstandings, and missteps made by those responsible for delivery of IT projects. The Top Ten disconnects between executives and project teams are accompanied by suggested solutions to help bridge the gaps and increase the likelihood of IT project success. Join Rick Clare, Partner and Practitioner from ConsultUSA and PMCentersUSA, to hear his thought-provoking insights on some of the biggest issues faced between you and the project team. DAY 1 Agenda for - Day 1: May 20th 12:30pm - 2:00pm LUNCHEON KEYNOTE - “HOW BUSINESSES CAN EVALUATE MOVING TO THE CLOUD – AN APPROACH TO IMPLEMENT SUCCESSFULLY” Sponsored by RDA Corporation Presented by: Tom Cole, CEO, RDA Corporation Eric Tanenholtz, Director of Consulting Cloud Services Discussion: The Cloud has matured into a strategic resource enabling enterprises to enter new markets, outpace their competitors, and reduce costs. When moving to the cloud, executives must consider business objectives, existing infrastructure investments, and application capability and life cycle. The decision to leverage the cloud should be based on whether it will drive cost efficiencies and create business agility and flexibility. Freedom Ballroom Tom Cole Eric Tanenholtz So how does an enterprise work through the many alternatives and variables in order to make a sound business decision that leverages the resources available in the cloud? RDA will present and discuss a prescribed stepwise approach to evaluating the capabilities provided by the major Cloud platforms. During this session, we will drill into the analysis and design due diligence needed to make an informed decision, and develop a roadmap to rehost, revise, or rebuild applications to best meet your business objectives. 2:00pm - 2:30pm 2:30pm - 3:30pm Session 1 Freedom 3 Dan Falkenstein DESSERT - NETWORKING PAVILION “RECOGNIZING, IMPROVING & RETAINING LEADERSHIP” Moderated by: Dan Falkenstein, SVP & CIO, Reliance Standard Life Insurance Co. PH.. 503PH 50 503-821-7311 033-82 821 82 1-73 1-73 311 7 Agenda for - Day 1: May 20th Session 2 “HOW TO MAKE ‘CLOUD’ PROJECTS SUCCESSFUL…THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND WHAT MIGHT SURPRISE YOU” Moderated by: Stephen Fugale, Vice President & CIO, Villanova University Panelists: Anne Wilms, Former CIO, Shire Pharmaceuticals, Rohm & Haas James Mazarakis, EVP & CIO, WSFS Bank Lisa Guzzardo, VP & CIO, The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church Charles Wallace, VP & CIO, Keystone Foods Independence South Stephen Fugale Anne Wilms James Mazarakis Lisa Guzzardo Charles Wallace Discussion: The hype around cloud computing continues to grow. Vendors are increasingly using “cloud computing as a marketing label and a solution for every enterprise. Regardless of “hype” cloud computing is an important and disruptive long term force in the industry with potential impact on every area of IT. The “cloud” is shifting from an isolated project to a central strategic thrust. Gartner estimates total spending on cloud services will increase from $110 billion in 2012 to $210 billion in 2016… In today’s faster paced and rapidly evolving business and technology environments, let’s focus on what makes cloud projects successful. Recognizing business/user demand and expectations continue to grow, financial and budgetary uncertainty, and rapidly evolving and disruptive technologies, the pressure to deliver projects seems even higher, is the cloud part of the answer? Using examples and real experiences the panel will address how have they tackled and met strategic business problems and successfully executed cloud projects and initiatives. What should CIOs be concerned with or plan for? What about security, SLA’s, architecture, sourcing, etc.? Are there best practices for the cloud? Are there new and different challenges when we talk about the cloud? What works, what doesn’t, what to look out for? Session 3 Independence North Dave Kelble “INNOVATION – IS THE CIO SITTING & WAITING OR BEING PROACTIVE? IF PROACTIVE, HOW DO YOU DO IT?” Moderated by: Dave Kelble, Dir. IT, Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life Panelists: Michael Perilli, CIO, Ultra Hardware Robert Juliano, Former CIO, Brandywine Realty Trust Dale Polekoff, CIO, Jacob Stern & Sons, Inc. Michael Perilli Robert Juliano Dale Polekoff Discussion: In today’s IT world, you can’t afford to sit and wait for business operations to innovate and dictate your agenda. You have to partner with, and sometimes lead, operations to innovate. But how can you do that? Please join us as we explore these questions. 8 www.premiercio.com Day 1: May 20th 3:45pm - 5:00pm FEATURED CLOSING KEYNOTE - “VOICE OF THE CXO - HELPING CIO’S SUCCEED IN THE C-SUITE” Moderated by: Dan Roberts, President, Ouellette & Associates Panelists: Lucinda Duncalfe, Founder/CEO, Real Food Works Robert F. Whether an organization has been hacked to bits or lumped together, regardless of the nature of the deal, the CIO needs to sew together the pieces of cloth on the table into a successful, thriving, organization. There is no one way to do it as every merger, acquisition, divestiture is unique, but there are patterns for you to follow. Our panel of IT leaders facilitated by Kristen Lamoreaux will be discussing: • Approaches to take regarding employee selection (without angering HR) • Communication and transparency and timing • How to meld and mold two organizations into one team • Retention strategies and the positives and negatives of retention bonuses Though you may have taken Auto Shop instead of Sewing in school, our panelists will walk you through their various experiences – both successes and failures – to help you cobble together your own patchwork of talent! 10:15am - 11:00am 11:00am - 12:00pm Session 1 Independence South Dr. Margaret McManus BREAK - NETWORKING PAVILION “CIO CAREER GROWTH” Moderated by: Dr. Margaret McManus, Assoc. Provost for Graduate Studies, LaSalle Univ. Panelists: William Morgan, VP, HR Operations & Information Systems, Memorial SloanKettering Cancer Center Chuck Raudonis, Deputy Global CIO, Kantar Media Angelo Valletta, Northeast Region Executive Director, FIS William Morgan Chuck Raudonis Angelo Valletta Discussion: Set your navigation system to the destination of being a CIO. What route will you take? This panel will discuss the factors that could lead you either on a direct route on the ‘highway’ or an indirect route on ‘more scenic’ roads, such as educational background, management and leadership skills, technical expertise, and business acumen. But watch out for detours! The panel will also address how you could handle any unexpected ‘bumps in the road’, such as mergers and acquisitions, downsizing, or security threats. 10 www.premiercio.com Session 2 Independence North Tom Egan Day 2: May 22nd “IS THE CIO REALLY PART OF THE C-SUITE? Moderated by: Tom Egan, Associate Provost, Arcadia University Panelists: Joe Chandler, President, Managing Dir., Centennial Solutions Group; has served as a CEO, CFO and as a VP Brendan O’Malley, CIO, NSM Insurance Group Scott Megill, President & CEO, Coriell Institute for Medical Research Joe Chandler Brendan O’Malley DAY 2 Agenda for - Scott Megill Discussion: Are CIOs perceived the same as CFOs, COOs and other C-level executives? In what ways are they true business partners? Are they undervalued? Please join us for an honest, insightful panel discussion about the CIO / CTO role featuring veteran, non-IT, C-level executives. Topics to include … When the executive team meets, what do they talk about? Do you/should you have a seat at the table? If it is technology, what are they saying? Are they discussing the newest and greatest IT product / service? Are they discussing the role of IT or the CIO? Simply put, what are C’s expecting from IT? If you want to advance your career, or continue your employment, you need to know how your role is viewed by the executive team as well as their expectations. Consider joining us to learn more how IT leaders can contribute more to organization success and better collaborate with other functions. 12:00pm - 1:30pm Freedom Ballroom Tom Egan CLOSING LUNCHEON KEYNOTE - “ARE WE READY FOR IT?” Moderated by: Tom Egan, Associate Provost, Arcadia University Panelists: Suzanne Keenan, CIO, SVP of Information, Technology, and Process Solutions, Wawa, Inc. Stephen Andriole, Thomas G. Labrecque Professor of Business Technology at the Villanova School of Business; Former SVP & CTO of Safeguard Scientifics; Former CTO CIGNA Corporation John Carrow, Founder, Carrow Consulting; Former CIO Unisys Corp.; Former CIO, City of Philadelphia Suzanne Keenan Stephen Andriole John Carrow Discussion: Staying current is a challenge for even the most forward-thinking technology professionals and companies. Many technology professionals are already near-dead (or at least asleep) with little or no sense of where things will be in two to three – let alone five to seven – years. Many of them are still consumed by brush fires like “why does PowerPoint keep crashing?” “how do I use social media to discuss my products and services” and “how do I upgrade to the next version of SAP?” There are two vectors that must be tracked: (1) emerging business models and (2) emerging business technologies. The pace of change is so aggressive that it’s nearly impossible for teams and companies to stay current – not to mention anticipatory – about IT. The panel will explore several skills/competencies requirements and discuss ways to get business technology teams ready for what’s coming – as quickly as possible. 1:30pm - 2:00pm DESSERT & REFRESHMENTS - FINAL DRAWINGS - NETWORKING PAVILION PH. 503-821-7311 11 Participating Organizations The following participating organizations have appointed one or more senior level executives to attend The Philadelphia Premier CIO Forum. 21st Century Insurance Access Group, Inc.
