It is our pleasure, along with our conference partners, to welcome you to the thirteenth annual Premier CIO Forum
in Philadelphia.
With the Premier CIO Forum, attendees across the region have come to expect a dynamic agenda with relevant,
up-to-the-minute topics and exciting speakers who will share their wealth of knowledge and experience, helping you

Our partner, The Society for Information Management (SIM), is an organization intended for Senior IT Executives to

open forum, devoid of sales and marketing solicitations, for area executives with IT decision-making responsibility
to network and share their experiences. The Premier CIO Forum & Executive IT Summit adheres to all guidelines
which prohibit solicitation by anyone, except for the requested solution providers who have been hand-picked by the
Executive Advisory Council of CIOs and Senior IT Executives specific to this region.
We have worked diligently to put together a stimulating and focused agenda, bringing together experts, visionaries
and professionals from the IT industry. We look forward to sharing this exciting conference with you.

OPENING KEYNOTE - “FOLLOW THE LEADER: THE BALANCE OF POWER AND PROGRESS”
Presented by: Ann Schatz, Sports Broadcaster & Motivational Speaker
Discussion: At the heart of every great leader is an openness to learn and to be led. At the
heart of every success story in team athletics is a dynamic coach who embraces those same
vital principals. That coach, that leader, asks questions, invites feedback, and encourages
greatness. Join Ann in this fast paced session that reveals the genius behind inspired action
and personal triumphs. Who knew board rooms and locker rooms had so much in common?
BREAK - NETWORKING PAVILION

Discussion: Speed to market and technological differentiation are becoming increasingly
important components in the creation of sustainable value. Unfortunately for many
organizations, their existing infrastructure and organizational models aren’t built for speed
or recognized differentiation, leaving their internal partners questioning IT’s value add. We
will discuss the transformational efforts that some of the most successful CIOs are leading,
examining the specific changes made and lessons learned. Today, as never before, the
flexibility and agility of your IT solutions determine your competitive advantage. This panel
will uncover precisely how some CIOs deliver that flexibility and agility.
IPR’s Dave McLaughlin will lead a discussion examining the critical role of the right IT
organizational model, roles, and skill sets. The value an organization derives from that mix can,
and should, be an important driver in the ongoing success of a business. A stacked panel of
technology leaders from across industries will tell the innovative ways they have taken control of
their IT infrastructure and are shaping it to deliver the solutions that their customers demand.

Discussion: Almost every corporation now uses SharePoint. However, most are also
not happy about the architecture and use (Misuse? Lack of use?) of their SharePoint
environment. Years ago, someone in the organization put up a SharePoint site. Then
someone else decided they needed one. Then another. The result, in most organizations,
is a “cobbled together” set of individual SharePoint sites, which are at times duplicative,
other times unused, and overall not effectively usable across the entire organization.
This presentation will be a panel-style discussion about how some companies are turning
their SharePoint nightmare into a dream application that is governed, used effectively
and appropriately, searchable across the organization—in short, a true knowledge
management environment.

Discussion: Not too many years ago, IT was seen as innovative and helping to drive the
business. Now, many organizations view IT as the “Department of NO” with processes
and requirements that inhibit productivity and business agility. Business users want to
take advantage of mobility, cloud, social networks and other technologies they use in
their day to day lives outside of work and struggle to understand why things operate so
differently in the office. Join us for a discussion around how you can leverage Identity and
Access Management solutions to take advantage of mobile, cloud and social to strike the
right balance between user convenience and acceptable business risk.

where there is frequently a mismatch of expectations with business users. Additionally
CIOs are pushed to make a direct contribution to business strategy and operations. This
panel will explore the role of IT Service Management in setting clear expectations with
the business, and how these services can transform the relationship between IT and the
business by not only improving IT service levels, but by providing tools which enable general

LUNCHEON KEYNOTE - “HOW BUSINESSES CAN EVALUATE MOVING TO THE
CLOUD – AN APPROACH TO IMPLEMENT SUCCESSFULLY”
Sponsored by RDA Corporation
Presented by: Tom Cole, CEO, RDA Corporation
Eric Tanenholtz, Director of Consulting Cloud Services
Discussion: The Cloud has matured into a strategic resource enabling enterprises to enter
new markets, outpace their competitors, and reduce costs. When moving to the cloud,
executives must consider business objectives, existing infrastructure investments, and
application capability and life cycle. The decision to leverage the cloud should be based on
whether it will drive cost efficiencies and create business agility and flexibility.

Discussion: The hype around cloud computing continues to grow. Vendors are increasingly
using “cloud computing as a marketing label and a solution for every enterprise.
Regardless of “hype” cloud computing is an important and disruptive long term force in the
industry with potential impact on every area of IT. The “cloud” is shifting from an isolated
project to a central strategic thrust. Gartner estimates total spending on cloud services will
increase from $110 billion in 2012 to $210 billion in 2016… In today’s faster paced and
rapidly evolving business and technology environments, let’s focus on what makes cloud
projects successful. Recognizing business/user demand and expectations continue to
grow, financial and budgetary uncertainty, and rapidly evolving and disruptive technologies,
the pressure to deliver projects seems even higher, is the cloud part of the answer? Using
examples and real experiences the panel will address how have they tackled and met
strategic business problems and successfully executed cloud projects and initiatives.
What should CIOs be concerned with or plan for? What about security, SLA’s, architecture,
sourcing, etc.? Are there best practices for the cloud? Are there new and different
challenges when we talk about the cloud? What works, what doesn’t, what to look out for?

OPENING KEYNOTE - “PATCHWORK TALENT – CREATING COHESIVE ORGANIZATIONS
FROM M&A SITUATIONS”
Moderated by: Kristen Lamoreaux, Founder, SIM Women
Panelists:
Brian Lurie, Executive Leader & CIO
Barbara Prutzman, CEO, BB&E Consulting
Discussion: In today’s dog-merge-dog world, one of the greatest challenges is determining how
to weave together the IT talent. Whether an organization has been hacked to bits or lumped
together, regardless of the nature of the deal, the CIO needs to sew together the pieces of
cloth on the table into a successful, thriving, organization. There is no one way to do it as every
merger, acquisition, divestiture is unique, but there are patterns for you to follow. Our panel of
IT leaders facilitated by Kristen Lamoreaux will be discussing:
• Approaches to take regarding employee selection (without angering HR)
• Communication and transparency and timing
• How to meld and mold two organizations into one team
• Retention strategies and the positives and negatives of retention bonuses
Though you may have taken Auto Shop instead of Sewing in school, our panelists will walk you
through their various experiences – both successes and failures – to help you cobble together
your own patchwork of talent!

Discussion: Set your navigation system to the destination of being a CIO. What route will
you take? This panel will discuss the factors that could lead you either on a direct route on
the ‘highway’ or an indirect route on ‘more scenic’ roads, such as educational background,
management and leadership skills, technical expertise, and business acumen. But watch out
for detours! The panel will also address how you could handle any unexpected ‘bumps in the
road’, such as mergers and acquisitions, downsizing, or security threats.

Discussion: Are CIOs perceived the same as CFOs, COOs and other C-level executives? In what
ways are they true business partners? Are they undervalued? Please join us for an honest,
insightful panel discussion about the CIO / CTO role featuring veteran, non-IT, C-level executives.
Topics to include … When the executive team meets, what do they talk about? Do you/should
you have a seat at the table? If it is technology, what are they saying? Are they discussing
the newest and greatest IT product / service? Are they discussing the role of IT or the CIO?
Simply put, what are C’s expecting from IT? If you want to advance your career, or continue
your employment, you need to know how your role is viewed by the executive team as well as
their expectations. Consider joining us to learn more how IT leaders can contribute more to
organization success and better collaborate with other functions.

Discussion: Staying current is a challenge for even the most forward-thinking technology
professionals and companies. Many technology professionals are already near-dead (or at
least asleep) with little or no sense of where things will be in two to three – let alone five to
seven – years. Many of them are still consumed by brush fires like “why does PowerPoint keep
crashing?” “how do I use social media to discuss my products and services” and “how do I
upgrade to the next version of SAP?”
There are two vectors that must be tracked: (1) emerging business models and (2) emerging
business technologies. The pace of change is so aggressive that it’s nearly impossible for teams
and companies to stay current – not to mention anticipatory – about IT.
The panel will explore several skills/competencies requirements and discuss ways to get
business technology teams ready for what’s coming – as quickly as possible.
