Study at the Conservatory of Naples "San Pietro a Majella" having for masters Mercadante and Serrao. Author of melodramas and romances mostly chamber, however, his name is linked to the Neapolitan song "Funiculi Funiculà" to music in 1880 in the lobby of the Hotel Stabia. This was the rst Neapolitan song that went around the world and still can ‘be said as emblematic of a city had been able to grasp why the quota for a universal: the desire to live, the exuberant enthusiasm of a people heir to a great past. The list in our archive is based on registration applications sent to our address or on public lists. 10 VIII INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS Rules of Performing section (piano-bows-wind instruments-canto-guitar-harp- percussions accordion-chamber music from duos to orchestras-jazz ancient music-bands-choirs) The competition is for young musicians of every nationality and is divided into 4 sections: Sect.1: SOLOISTS (violin, cello, wind instruments, guitar, piano, harp, canto, percussions, accordion) Sect.2: JUNIORES Sect.3: CHAMBER MUSIC (from duos to orchestras, choirs, jazz, ancient music, bands) Sect.4: FOUR HANDS Section n. 1 soloists is divided into: CAT. A: participants born in 2000-01-02. (max. 5 minutes) CAT. B: participants born in 1997-98-99. (max. 10 minutes) CAT.C: participants born in 1994-95-96. (max. 12 minutes) CAT. D: participants born in 1991-92-93. (max.15 minutes) CAT. E: participants born in 1988-89-90. (max.15 minutes) CAT. F: no age limits. (max.20 minutes). A candidate, together with the secretary of the jury, will draw a letter of the alphabet to determine the order of performers. 3) Before starting their performances, the candidates will be requested to exhibit an identity document, the list of pieces to be performed with relative duration and a copy of the scores of the mentioned pieces. 4) During performances the board of examiners can ask to listen to one or more of the pieces proposed, and has the faculty to interrupt performances at any moment or to ask for a repetition of the piece. The board’s judgement is final. 5) Classifications will be communicated at the end of each performance of the relative section. 6) Members of the board of examiners cannot be neither teachers nor relatives of candidates; should anyone inadvertently be, he/she will not take part in the voting, under penalty of loss of the possible award and of expulsion from the board. 7) Soloists can perform pieces with or without accompaniment: for pieces with accompaniment, the candidates have to personally find it. For candidates in need of an accompanying pianist, they can ask for the one provided by the organization sending the scores at least 15 days before the Competition, enclosing a suppletive fee of 50 euros. 8) Absolute winners of previous editions can compete, but not in the same section and group. 9) The board can decide not to award the prizes should the participants be unworthy. 10) All accompaniments will be certified on request. 11) All travelling and lodging expenses are charged to the candidates. Registrations will mean the automatic approval of these rules. 12) Candidates will have to use their own music stands, amplifiers, audio-visual backups, instrumental tracks and whatever necessary to their performance. 13) The Artistic Direction has the right to modify these rules. 14) Registrations are to be made within May 6th 2013 (date as postmark) at: Associazione Musicale “Le Camenae”, Via Crapolla II n° 75 – 80045, Pompei (NA), enclosing the following documents: 4 VIII INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS Rules for schools (Primary, middle school, secondary and Musical lyceums) 1) The section is reserved solely to primary and secondary school students and is divided in two categories: Cat A: Soloists (violin, cello, clarinet, guitar,wind instruments, piano, harp, canto, percussions, etc.). Free choice program up to 5 minutes. Cat B: Ensemble, from duos to orchestras, choirs. Free choice program up to 5 minutes (from duos to octets), up to 15 minutes (Choirs and orchestras). Categories A and B will be divided in classes. 2) Performances will be held on May 13th and 14th. Schedules to be decided with the Secretary of the Competition. 3) Registrations within May 6th 2013 at: Associazione Musicale “Le Camenae”, Via Crapolla II n° 75 – 80045, Pompei (NA), enclosing certificate of attendance, list of participants specifying Name, surname, instrument, kind of musical group, program for each participant. 4) The Board has the right to decide not to assign prizes should participants not be worthy. The forms stating merit and participation and the results of the absolute prizes will be communicated on May 18th, after the concert. 18) AWARDS: PERFORMANCE SECTION I absolute award 100/100 (mandatory performance on May 17th, h.17,00). I award 96-99/100 – II award 91-95/100 – III award 86-90/100. 19) All awarded musicians will receive a Merit Diploma during the gala evening. A: participants born in 2000-01-02. (max. 5 minutes) CAT. B: participants born in 1997-98-99. (max. 10 minutes) CAT.C: participants born in 1994-95-96. (max. 12 minutes) CAT. D: participants born in 1991-92-93. (max.15 minutes) CAT. E: participants born in 1988-89-90. (max.15 minutes) CAT. F: no age limits. (max.20 minutes). Study at the Conservatory of Naples "San Pietro a Majella" having for masters Mercadante and Serrao. Author of melodramas and romances mostly chamber, however, his name is linked to the Neapolitan song "Funiculi Funiculà" to music in 1880 in the lobby of the Hotel Stabia. This was the rst Neapolitan song that went around the world and still can ‘be said as emblematic of a city had been able to grasp why the quota for a universal: the desire to live, the exuberant enthusiasm of a people heir to a great past.
