Make cherished memories and immerse
yourself in Polynesian culture at Maui’s most
exciting lu‘au! Drums of the Pacific Lu‘au has
delighted Maui visitors for more than thirty
years. Committed to our original vision, we
continue to perform authentic songs, chants
and dances from Hawai‘i and neighboring
Polynesian islands that have influenced
Hawaiian life and customs for centuries. We share
our gifts in hope that we may entertain, inspire and amaze
visitors for many generations to come.
TONGA - We celebrate the
people of Tonga through the
festive drums that brought the
village together and signaled
that a ceremony or celebration
was about to begin.
Delicious food and drink features the exotic flavors of native Polynesian
cuisine. Watch as the kalua pig is unearthed from the imu, a traditional
underground oven.
MAORI - New Zealand These Maori dances feature
the whirling of the poi, an
instrument used to improve
dexterity and flexibility of the
hands and the haka, the
dance of challenge displaying
courage and strength of the
village men.
OTE‘A - Tahiti The story of the ancient Hawaiian
ancestors’ journey navigating by the
wind, stars, clouds and ocean currents.
HALEAKALA HULA - Maui - Utilizing the
traditional ti leaf skirt called the la’I and
traditional Hawaiian implements called the
pu’ili or split bamboo our women perform
a proud name song for Maui’s great
mountain peak Haleakala.
RAROTONGA
The white tipped Tavake bird is known throughout
the Pacific as being the bird that led our ancient
navigators to new land.
MULTI MAN FIREKNIFE
DANCE - Rooted in the
traditional Samoan ailao,
or battle dance,
our warriors
come forward
twirling their
battle knives
in flames of
fire. Known as
the most dangerous dance
in all of Polynesia, this spectacular
three-man fireknife dance
incorporates ancient battle moves
using knives set ablaze.
KAHIKO - Ka’anapali, Maui
The spot where Sunset Terrace
sits, called Maka’iwa in ancient
times, was governed by the owl
goddess Wahine Pe’e who
reunited lovers separated
by battle.
