Excellence Awards It was an honour to represent Kāiti School recently at the Prime Ministers Education Excellence Awards. 89 schools entered the awards and 11 finalists were selected. Kāiti and Te Kura Reo Rua o Waikirikiri were lucky to be named finalists. While we were not successful in winning an award, as finalists we are very proud to be recognised for the work we do with our whānau ora families. I would like to acknowledge the success of these families who have made positive changes to their lifestyles which has in turn made a positive difference for their whānau. Congratulations too, to Gisborne Boys High School for being named supreme winners on the night. The mahi GBHS are doing with their Whakairo and Tū Tane programmes is phenomenal and has been developed over several years. How proud we were of the boys and Te Tairawhiti for being so well represented on the National Stage. Written by Aliszae Rm11 Positive Behaviour for learning ...Kia Tu Rangatira Every five weeks we measure how many incidents with behaviour that we have had in the playground and classrooms. It has been a good term and our data on behaviour has decreased. On the last measure we had 6 playground incidents recorded. All of these students who were involved in incidents are supported now with teacher aide and our current supervised playground programme Tū Pakari. In the final week of the term, we will be holding a special Kia Tū Rangatira assembly to acknowledge the inaugural Gold Zone learners and their families. Kings and Queens Proms To celebrate the term in Kings and Queens style it is time for the ball. Tickets are on sale next week for the Junior and Senior Winter Proms in the final week of the term. Junior prom is on Tuesday 30 June from 1 - 2.15pm. Senior Prom is on Wednesday from 1 to 2.15pm. Tickets are $3. Every child gets a sausage and sauce on the stick on the day. Kings and Queens goodie bags ($3) will be on sale at the ball/prom as well as drinks for ($2). There is a Bula Fiji meeting for all involved parents next Thursday evening at 6pm.
