In the event of inclement weather, the
Montessori Garden Academy may need to
delay or close the school for the safety of the
students and staff. Please review the
reminders below regarding the inclement
weather procedures.
1. MGA does not follow the Perry Township
closings and delays. In case of inclement
weather, the MGA administration will make a
decision to ensure the safety of students and
staff.
5. When IPS is closed, Crouching Tigers will
be closed.
6. Due to the extended school day schedule
offered at the Montessori Garden Academy,
snow make-up days will only be scheduled in
the event of three or more missed school days
during the academic year.
Please contact the school office (317) 7829990 with questions or concerns.
2. In case of closings or delays, MGA will post
updates with Fox 59. Weather announcements
are posted on the Fox 59 website:
www.fox59.com. Weather announcements are
also posted on the school’s Facebook page,
the school website and emailed to the parent
mailing list.
3. Because the Montessori Garden Academy
does not rely on buses for transportation, the
school will often be open when other schools
are not. Students that are absent during
inclement weather due to safety concerns will
not be penalized.
Important Dates:
January 19th-MLK Jr. Holiday
4. When Perry Township is closed, NO HOT
LUNCH will be delivered to the school.

Kids Kreations
MGA will be participating in
a Kids Kreations art activity
fundraiser again this year!
Kids Kreations allows each
participating student artist to
have artwork professionally
processed into a variety of
exclusive items that make
wonderful keepsakes and
gifts. Keepsakes include
keychains, phone covers,
mugs, vases, and many other
items that all feature the
student artist’s work. Kids
Kreations will be part of our
upcoming MGA Art Fair &
Auction event. Personalized
catalogues will go home with
students prior to the art fair.
All proceeds from this
fundraiser will benefit our
nonprofit school.

Dealing with Separation Anxiety at the Start of the Montessori School Year: Tips for Parents
 Create and establish peaceful (and happy) morning routines.
 Place “love notes” in your child’s lunchbox and a picture of his/her family in their backpack.
 Always say goodbye to your child and include a light hug and/or kiss. Tell him/her you’ll be
back when school is out. Prolonged goodbyes are harder on both child and parent.
 Allow the teacher to assist him/her in the classroom.
 Stay positive and enthusiastic at drop off. Children often pick up on adult anxieties.
 Don’t linger and peek through the classroom door or window.
 Don’t linger in the parking lot.
 Read books together about going to school.
 Be prompt at pick-up and provide your child with focused attention.
Separation anxiety can resurface in students of any age during the first days of school. This transition can be difficult for both parents and students. Please know MGA teachers and administrators are always available to provide updates and support.
