Will you help? Sunday School Teachers Sunday School Supervisor(s) Participates in the growth of Sunday School in the church through annual planning, communication, organization, and lead Sunday School meetings as needed. Promotes fellowship among youth class members and others on the leadership team Engages parents in fellowship and group activities. Collaborates with Sunday School Teachers to choose curriculum and ensure required resources are available. Provide support to Sunday School teachers. G R A CE Can’t commit to every Sunday? You can still participate by teaching as a part of a team. You and your fellow team members can make a schedule that works for you all. Do you have doubt about your ability to teach Sunday School? Think again. Our children need adults that care about them, encourage them, and — most importantly, let them know how important they are to God and to you. Curriculum is provided to minimize the time needed for class planning. Chancel Choir under new management--The Chancel Choir is now under the direction of Cherl Himes with Organist and Piano accompaniment by Eric Armstrong. Got Talent or Desire to Sing -- Contact Cherl Himes. No auditions required. Remember the Parable of the Talents? In Matthew 25: 14-30, Jesus talks about the Master who gave 3 different amounts of "Talents" to 3 servants to invest as they saw fit. The first two invested wisely and saw some return. The third servant buried his "talents" and as a result saw no return. The Master looking for a return and seeing none called the third servant wicked and lazy. So What is a Talent? When used in a monetary sense, the "talent" might be silver or gold. But what if that "talent" is in the sense of a special ability or spiritual gift? God is looking for a return on our "talent" when it comes to singing his praises. Many present members of the choir "noted" their love in actively participating in the worship service. Many also indicated that this love began at an early age with their start in a youth choir. (Parents Stay Tuned. Increased youth involvement in Bell Choir and Youth Choir is evolving.) A further "note", the Choir recently took their stewardship of music on the road by partnering with Christ Evangelical Lutheran, Beaver Falls, and Beaver Valley Choral Chamber Choir to help re-energize the music at the Beaver Falls Presbyterian Church, Beaver Falls. During the school year, the Chancel Choir practices each Wednesday evening starting at 7PM in Choir Room next to Fellowship Hall. Summer months will feature various choir members and guest artists. Singing in church is not limited to the choir. Do you sing in church? If not, why? G R A CE Make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Psalm 147:1 Page 10 POETRY CORNER Reflections at 94 I’m standing high upon a hill I see the scene below The stream reflects the images Of my life long ago. A child appears upon the bank Embracing all she can. Imagination makes her dream Of a peaceful, lovely land. I see her now, a different girl Filled with anticipation For she has pledged to climb the hill With great determination. As she has grown she meets the One Who cultivates her soul. Throughout her walk she clings to Him Ever seeking for the goal. The person that I am today Has climbed through joy and strife. At 94 I am His child I thank God for my life! We will study the word of God, share His love, and expand His kingdom by nurturing, sharing freely, and working together. INTERN PASTOR ANGELA SMITH We are the Church We have all heard the saying, “united we stand, divided we fall.” “The phrase has been attributed to the ancient Greek storyteller Aesop.”[1] It is the same idea that is conveyed in Mark 3:25, “And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.” The prevalence and legacy of its use must in some way convey its importance in our lives and the life of the Church. So what would it mean for the church to be united? What do you think about when you hear these words? Are you thinking about Grace Lutheran or the whole Christian church? The Association for Religious Archives reports that there are 81,805 people in Beaver County that do not claim any association with organized religion.[2] That is about 50% of the population. I hear these numbers and I wonder how might we work with each other and our brothers and sisters in Christ from the area to reach those that may have never had the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ? Please pray with me this month about ways we might share God’s Word with our neighbors. I would also like to invite you to share any ideas you may have with me. “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.”[3] [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_we_stand,_divided_we_fall [2] http://www.thearda.com/rcms2010/r/c/42/rcms2010_42007_county_name_2010.asp [3] NRSV, Ephesians 4:4-6.
