27th Annual GUARDSMEN CELEBRITY DINNER & SPORTS AUCTION FEATURING HONORARY CHAIR, BARRY BONDS THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2015 THE FAIRMONT HOTEL SAN FRANCISCO ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT: 1 2 On behalf of The Guardsmen and the Giants Community Fund, we would like to welcome you to The Fairmont Hotel San Francisco and to our 27th Annual Celebrity Dinner & Sports Auction! This evening is a result of a decision by our two organizations to work together to produce a very memorable evening to benefit underserved Bay Area youth – a shared charitable pursuit. Tonight we are excited to have here with us many members of the San Francisco Giants organization, San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, and other local athletes. We thank them and their families for being here and for giving their time to help make this event both enjoyable and successful. Since 1947, The Guardsmen’s all-volunteer membership has raised millions of dollars to provide thousands of Bay Area children the opportunity to attend summer camps each year and to receive scholarships to attend local private grade schools and high schools. Since 1991, the Giants Community Fund has used baseball as a forum to encourage underserved youth and their families to live healthy, productive lives. With the support of individuals, businesses and community partners, the Fund has reached thousands of youth through the Junior Giants program and other community initiatives. Finally, we extend our special thanks to all of our generous sponsors and donors without whom this event would be significantly less beneficial to our kids, and to our volunteers, who have donated hundreds of hours of their valuable time to make of this event a reality. Please support these companies and thank these individuals. We hope you have a wonderful evening! Bidding: Upon registration at the check-in table, each guest will receive a program with an individual bidding “paddle number” on the back, and a device hosting BidPal Network software or access to BidPal Network software. Silent Auction bidding will be made electronically through BidPal Network software only, and Live Auction bidding will be by bidding paddle numbers only. Most important: Do not mislay your paddle. Guests are responsible for all purchases made by the paddle number assigned to them upon arrival. Silent Auction: All bids will be made electronically through BidPal Network software or device. When the silent auction closes, the highest bidder on each item identified through BidPal Network software or device will be considered purchaser of the item. Live Auction: The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. The auctioneer has the right to reject any bid and to advance the bid at his absolute discretion and, in any event of dispute between bidders, to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the article in dispute. Should there be any dispute after the sale, The Guardsmen record of sale shall be conclusive. On the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer, the buyer assumes the full risk and responsibility for the lot and will be required to sign a confirmation of purchase and pay the full purchase price. Receipt of payment shall be deemed the completion of sale. Notice: Most live auction packages require cooperative planning between the purchaser and The Guardsmen. We appreciate our buyers’ understanding of our efforts to secure quality packages given constraints for donated airline mileage and hotel awards. Timing and scheduling issues may arise as part of the planning of travel-related packages. We appreciate your cooperation. Amounts paid in excess of the fair market value may be deductible for federal income tax purposes. Bidders should consult their own tax advisors. Sales Tax: California requires that we charge sales tax on all personal property auctioned at this event.
